Education is the most important requirement of the people, especially to the younger
population. It is within such an education system that people are able to learn and grow in their
life (Smith et al., 2017). When a child is born, during that time the individual is without any
knowledge or experiences. With the gradual increase in the age of the individual, he or she gets
to know about various things in life. Such learnings either take place with the aid of personal
experiences or with the formal education that one receives in the schools (Kruss et al., 2015). In
this essay, the factor of education has been discussed. In this respect, the impact of failing grades
on the life of a student is judged. The essay tries to understand the question that should the
teachers be allowed to give failing grades to the students or should the policy of awarding no-
failing grades to the students be upheld.
Schools are a formalized place where education is imparted to the students. This
education imparts knowledge in various fields such as teaching the students about math, the
historical significance of the country where the student resides in, the political relations that the
country shares with the other nation states of the world and also about the geographical location
of the concerned country (Hulten, 2017). All of these information are valuable for the student as
it makes him or her aware about the country that they live in. Furthermore, they also gain an idea
about the other things which exists out of their reach in the other countries of the world, but such
elements are present and have an important bearing on the lives of the people (Harackiewicz,
Smith & Priniski, 2016). In this sense, the significance of the field of education can be observed
as it enables people to be aware of many things in life.
The awareness of such things is important as it aids in the psychological development of
the individual (Schiller, 2018). The cognitive development of a person occurs as they gather
more information and utilizes them in the course of his or her life so that they can deal

effectively with their personal experiences. Thus, from this it can be observed that when the
different learnings of education are efficiently imbibed within an individual, then they will be
able to understand how to tackle the various events of life in an effectively manner (McCormick
& James, 2018). This necessitates education in the life of an individual and guides them through
their life span.
In this context, the issue of failed grades can be discussed. The imparting of education
within the formal structure of a school does not occur in a generalized form. Within a school,
there are teachers and staff members who try to ensure that lessons are given to the students in an
effective manner (Felver et al., 2016). In order to judge that such lessons of different fields are
properly learnt by the students, the administration of different schools have developed the system
of evaluation. Under such a system of evaluation, the teachers are required to hold continuous
form of tests and examinations whereby the knowledge gained by the students are evaluated.
Such examinations occur at regular intervals after a significant amount of information is
imparted to them.
Examinations are considered to be essential for the students as it makes the teachers
aware about how much information and knowledge a particular individuals been able to imbibe
within himself or herself (Taylor & Richards, 2018). This is important as a student utilizes such
information in order to deal with personal issues. For instance, the values that a person learns
from the learning of sociology makes him or her understand about the traditions and customs of
the society. The adherence to such values of the community would ensure the approval of the
elders within that society. Similarly, learning about the cultural differences makes an individual
tolerant towards the beliefs that are held by the other people of the society.

In this sense, it can be seen that the different tests that are conducted by the schools
should be judged in a proper manner. This is only possible when the students are evaluated based
on the marks they receive in such tests that are conducted by the school. If the students fail to
achieve a particular mark, then they should be marked as fail. This line would be able to prove to
the teachers the students who are in need of additional help and guidance. Furthermore, the
students would get to know the places where they are lacking and seek professional help. If the
students are not not given failed grades, then they would become relaxed with their education.
They would not give it a priority and instead would think that no matter if they do not study, they
would be given passing marks by the teachers (Taylor & Richards, 2018). As a result, the field of
education would lose its significance. It would be reduced to merely a sphere where a student has
to pass and not be aware about his or her shot comings. In this sense, it is important that the
failing grades are given to the children. They would be more concerned with their education and
learn their lessons in a serious manner. The failing grades would prove to them that they need to
learn more effectively. It is such learnings which would help them to tackle their daily personal
issues.
In conclusion it can be observed that failing grades are important for the students and
teachers both. The students are able to realize the different fields were they lack and need help.
Similarly, the teachers would be able to pin point the students who would need their help and
guidance. If the failing grade policy is followed, then the students would lose out on the
significance of education and not take their lessons in a serious manner, instead would become
dependable on the fact that they would be passed no matter the circumstances.
