1.2 Introduction
Business refers to activities which helps to make money for living by producing and selling
products and service (Bidmon, and Knab, 2018). It consist different functions like finance,
marketing, purchase, human resources and many more. This project report analyse Function
of Unilever Plc which is UK based multinational organisation. Unilever Plc is one of largest
company which was established in he 1929 by William Lever. This project report includes
study of different function of business and their link.
1.3 Marketing
Marketing is one of important function of business which helps in promoting buying and
selling of products and service. It consist different activities like advertisement, selling as
well as delivery of products and service. Unilever Plc is advertising their products at large
level for increasing awareness. It is conducting marketing research and develop products as
per requirement of customers.
1.4 Finance
Finance is another function which is concerned with planning and control of financial
resources (Curtis, 2020). It consist acquiring as well as utilisation of funds required for
effective operation. Unilever Plc is a large organisation operating at international level and
require huge funds. There are different ways through which this organisation can raise their
funds like bank loan, shareholdings, debt capital funds.

Human resource is another function which is concerned with maximising productivity of
employees and protecting companies from different issues which may arise within workforce.
In Unilever Plc, human resource function is concerned with benefits and compensation,
firing, recruitment and keeping different laws up to date which can create impact on company
and its employees.

Operation is another important function in an organisation which is responsible for purpose
of transformation of raw material into finished goods. It helps to manage process which is

1.7 How Business Functions link Together
There are different business function in business for growth and success of company. Main
aim of these functions is to attain business goals and objectives (Donthu, Kumar and Pattnaik,
2020). These functions are purchase, marketing, operation, human resource and many more
which are interlinked in many ways. For instance, marketing is one of function which helps
to increase awareness of products and service whereas operation function is concerned with
increase in productivity of organisation. Marketing function ensure selling of products and
service developed in production department. In same way, human resource and finance
function is also interlinked as human resource is concerned with hiring of new candidate for
available place in organisation and finance is concerned with raising funds for company.
Human resource function is depended on finance for providing salary to employees.

function for successfully carry out their operation in market place. These function ensure
