INTRODUCTION
Business management can be understood as an integral understanding of the business
operations where fundamental decisions are analysed by focusing on marketing, finance
operations, production and human resources. Sainsbury is one of the largest retail brand of UK
with numerous stores and large variety of products and services catering to the advanced
preferences of customers. This report analysis explains the importance of management functions
and how they enable business managers in Sainsbury to operate with high efficiency standards.
Marketing operations
Sainsbury company lays high emphasis to marketing function of management as the big
retail brand has large business scale regulations in products and services where it aims to reach
the set company performance goals (Barrena‐Martinez,López‐Fernández and Romero‐
Fernández,2019).The brand uses innovative technology to promote the products and services on
global scale, along with partnerships among new brands coming up who have been able to
positively impact customers. Strong marketing enables Sainsbuty to deliver customer satisfaction
services with large efficiency standards and maintain the established brand goodwill.
Finance operations
Sainsbury finance department lays high importance to planning and allocation of
resources and utilization of funds for reaching the set benchmarks with strong efficiency. The
company has large number of stores in domestic as well as international market where the
finance operations has huge role to employ appropriate resources into all functional areas and
regulate the operations with established goals and benchmarks. Finance operations determine the
key areas where company will invest in future and what percentage of capital needs to be
deployed for increased profit margins (Davis, and Comeau,2020).
Productions operations
Production is one of the most crucial area where Sainsbury lays importance by bringing
in more innovative products and services where advanced technology and equipments are used in
production. Proper training of advanced skills are given to employee working in production
department which enables company to establish cost-effectiveness and bring efficient quality
products. Sainsbury aims to deliver innovative products according to changing preferences of
customers for establishing firm position in the industry and entering into new sectors of business.

Human resources are the most vital department of Sainsbury as the company lays high
importance to deliver customers satisfaction services with efficiency and recruit talented
employees with advanced skills. The human resource department has the role to keep ethical
working conditions for employees and keep them motivated with intrinsic as well as extrinsic
factors. Leaders in Sainsbury take training sessions of employees where they are encouraged to
use modernized technology and equipments with efficiency and reach the set company goals
along with profitability margins (Myers, 2019).
CONCLUSION
Marketing, finance operations, production and human resources are the most important
functional areas of management in Sainsbury which allows top business management to take
strong business expansion decisions. Effective completion of these functions with high
performance standards enable Sainsbury to establish as competitive brand with high goodwill in
dynamic business culture among other competitors brand in world.
