INTRODUCTION
The scope of employment in the areas of marketing has increased in last two decades.
Marketing department of a team is responsible for business development. This career option is
chosen because earning capacity in this field is very high. This job is related to finding needs of
the customers and providing them various facilities like after sales service. Advertising sector
has seen remarkable growth in last 4-5 years and according to my opinion, making career in this
industry will help me in earning more money. Convincing people to buy a particular product is
significant part of promotion. This report will discuss about employment trends which affect
graduates, required knowledge and experience for making career in marketing will also become
part of this assignment.
General Employment trends in the graduate market
If the education sector is analysed than it is observed that each year almost 350000
students leave colleges as a graduate. If the ratio is compared with the availability of job
opportunities for them than the result is that there are less number of jobs available which results
into increase in the rate of unemployment. This increases both competition and pressure for the
graduates to get an equivalent job profile for them as it is important that after investing time and
money in education the expected returns are received (Carrer, 2011). The most demanding or
important sectors for these students are of media, marketing, banking, HR sales accounting etc.
in order to get these jobs it is necessary that an applicant has capacity to stand out from others
and show his capacity to perform a particular job. The latest trends in the graduation employment
market gives a detail knowledge about what is the starting salary of person who has just
completed his college and like factors. It is observed that now the options with graduate has
increased as globalisation has brought with it various platforms which create demand in the
labour market. The rate of total wages has also raised as in order to meet the excess of
competition companies wish to employ more skilled employ for which they have to pay higher
salaries. It is expected that in the coming time due to the continuous increase in competition
more strict recruitments will be done which will effect the morale of a new candidate who is new
to the professional life (Carrer and et. al., 2010).

A graduate in marketing has immense options with him as it is an effective tool which is
being used in almost all type of organisations. An important role has to be performed by the
candidate applying for this job which includes promoting the name of brand you are working
with, establishing interaction with the customers etc. it also include career opportunities in
digital marketing, e- marketing mobile marketing etc. different sectors which are demanding
graduates from this department are the textile market, electronics and the recreation sectors as
advertisement and commercialisation is of great importance to them (Von and Carrer, 2014). To
earn higher revenues it is important for them Xiaomi is an organisation which deals in the
mobile phones. With its new launch of Redmi wish to promote its product in the market for
which it has vacancy in its marketing department. A graduate can apply for this job profile and
can help the brand in increasing its total sales. It is important to have complete knowledge about
the brand and product so that customers can be influenced to choose the same. There are various
modes through which this company is attracting applicants to apply for the job. Online
placement sites, print media are the most common platforms where the advertisement regarding
the same job profile is given (Carrer and et. al., 2015).
Required skills and knowledge
Most of the people think that getting a job in marketing field is easy. Graduate students
can be placed in a big corporation but their salary will be low at initial stage. Various
organisations refuse to pay high wages in starting, they ask new employee to focus on incentives.
They want novice workers to enhance sales of the company and earn more remuneration.
Different kind of skills are needed in making career in marketing field but innovative thinking is
the most important. At the time of making plan for advertising a product, an individual has to
give some creative ideas to the team so they can target more customers in short time and in an
effective manner. Knowledge about commodity and market is very important. If a graduate do
not have any information about market then they cannot do proper marketing.
Most of the organisations like to recruit a person who has some working experience.
Applicant must have some ground knowledge, they can attain at the time of internship. Good
communication skills is essential in the field of marketing. An enterprise may ignore other
shortcomings of new graduate at the time of interview but if they fail to find this talent in the

with better and latest skills. Applicants must possess good and latest knowledge about

possess in their personality. Inexperienced people may face bigger challenges in the beginning of
their job. If they have good ability to analyse a situation then they can cross various hurdles. This
quality is essential at this stage of life. Their are many students who did not attain success in
their career because they fail to come up with new ideas in short period of time.

For good workforce management practices every company focus on future development
as well as career plans of employees continuously on regular basis to provide them more career
growth opportunity so that they retain for long period of time with company. The regular
meetings of management provide various opportunity to new graduate employees across work
area. The vacancy arises in organisation of marketing manager which consider employees with
overall mix workforce abilities and capabilities. Marketing required high skilled graduate
students who can help to enhance the growth level of company (Carrer and et. al., 2015).
Organisation give advertisement through T.V, newspaper, social media etc. to call more and
more candidate for the interview for marketing position. It is responsibility of HR to recruiting
and selecting right person for the right place in right time. HR play very significant role in
success and development of company by hiring new talented and young minded people who can
help in achieving desired goals and objectives in fixed time period. When company hire
employees for any vacant position they face many problem and challenges to find qualified
person in competitive business environment. With the help of internet HR calls many candidate
for vacant position so that company get large pool of people through which they select best one

for their company. In marketing sector there is so many career opportunity for graduate students
who have some required skills and knowledge which is necessary in this sector. Company hire

abilities. Also, discussed various modes used by company to attract more and more applicants to
apply for vacant job position. Through online social sites, T.V, print media and many more are
