Grammar is a subject which might reflect confusion for learners who find complexities in
using correct grammar techniques in their writing (Arnold, 2017). Being a student who shows
significant interest in English linguistics, I found few areas which requires refurbishment to help
me progress successfully in this domain of education. By delving into my areas of weaknesses, I
have identified 3 goals, which I must achieve namely, reviewing basics, proof reading and
acknowledge feedback. Since classes in English linguistics and writing have been one of my
areas of interests, I must spend substantial amount of time in reviewing the basic principles of
grammar. To attain this goal, I would require conduct extensive research on the basic parts of
speech and common grammatical errors which I often tend to make. Proof reading enables
students to re-read documents which they have written which often enable their brains to fill in
the gaps of missing information as well as knowledge. However, by drawing relevance to this
strategy, I must critically evaluate my writing by others, who can efficiently review my writing
and identify errors which I might overlook while self-proof reading. In academic and
professional domain, acknowledging feedback besides being responsive are highly crucial to
gain competence in the particular area (Harwood, 2018). I must, consistently acknowledge
feedback from my tutor and supervisor regarding run-on sentences or in specific areas of
complications such as subject-verb agreement while writing lengthy assignments. Thus, I must
create individual modified checklist of strategies to achieve while writing.
