Dear Mr. Darwin,
The foundation board at New Leaf writes this letter to inquire about your possible interest
in supporting the work that is done at New Leaf, a social service organization based in Houston,
Texas, seeks funding to initiate a new program known as “United We Stand”. This program is
specifically aimed at providing assistance to adult support groups in the Houston community;
support groups which render economic, social and moral support to aged and single adults, living
entirely on their own without the protection of family members, partners or children, and who
stand at the risk of suffering from isolation and depression as a consequence of having to fend
for themselves all on their own. With the funds acquired, New Leaf hopes to provide major adult
support groups in Houston with the financial disbursements that they need to introduce plans,

programs and activities that are aimed at making the lives of single and older isolated adults,
more secure and positive.
New Leaf is a civil society organization that has been operating in the American city of
Houston for a significant length of time now and which is dedicated to providing the community
members with the support and the aid that they need in order to be able to engage in quality
living on a day to day basis. New Leaf as an organization takes cognizance of the fact that not all
community members are well to do, and even in the event that they are financially secure, there
are still support services that need to be made available to community members who do for
instance, stay all on their own, who do not have family members to look after them or to look in
on them and see if they are doing alright, and who could do with support given in the form of
having daily tasks or chores performed for them, being given emergency medical assistance etc.
The latter constitutes the type of aid and assistance that is usually made available by support
groups and while there are many support groups in Houston already, most of these are severely
short of funds or financial strength. New Leaf is an organization that is dedicated to promoting
the work that is undertaken by the adult support groups in Houston particularly those that are
dedicated to improving the lives of senior citizens in Houston as also the lives of middle aged
adults who are on their own, without partners or family and who do not have anyone to care for
them other than themselves. The work of the adult support groups is something that New Leaf
intends on facilitating by providing them with the funds that they need in order to be able to meet
their goals and objectives and also to provide them with the manpower which they require to
meet their goals and objectives. This includes initiating programs, policies and actions that will
entail looking up on the adults who are in need of support on a day to day basis over and above
providing them with counseling, engaging with them on a one to one basis to find out what it is

that they need or require from the community and to find out how they may be best assisted to
ensure that they do not feel ass lonely as they happen to be. New Leaf is an organization which
takes cognizance of the fact that depression is a killer disease and that people should not be
allowed to be left uncared for or to fend for themselves, in the event that they do not have friends
or family, especially the latter, to look up on them. New Leaf thus finds it worthwhile to offer
support to the type of services that are performed by the adult support groups in Houston and is
presently soliciting funds in order to be able to help such groups, in the most effective way that is
possible.
An active campaign is in place for creating endowments that will support the work done
by the adult support groups. If invited at all to present a full-fledged proposal, New Leaf will
request $ 50,000 to undertake support and rehabilitation work for vulnerable adults in Houston,
over a period of one year. With the funds provided, the following actions will be undertaken by
New Leaf in order to ensure that the money is disbursed in the right manner and to the correct
people so that the funds and the efforts of New Leaf to raise such funds is not seen to go in vain.
The adult support groups will be accumulated in a certain location in Houston where New Leaf
will address them personally and find out what they propose to do in order to help the vulnerable
and older members of the community. New Leaf will ask representatives of the adult support
groups to explain to them in a detailed and structured manner what it is that intends on being
done with the funds that are acquired. After hearing the proposed plan of action, New Leaf will
take a decision whether or not to grant the funds. Adult support groups that are sanctioned funds
by New Leaf will be asked to provide a daily, weekly and monthly report of the work that they
undertake. The reports will require them to detail the number of home visits that they make every
month, and details also of the type of assistance that is being made available to the more

vulnerable members of the community. These reports will be read and reviewed in detail by New
Leaf to determine whether or not the adult support groups are making full use of the funds that
they have been provided to them.
Additionally, an attempt will be made by New Leaf to look in on the persons who are likely
to be at the receiving end of the support services that are provided by the adult support groups.
This will enable the organization to check and see how effective the actions of the support
groups are and if there are any areas that are lacking with regard to the work that is done by
them. New Leaf is whole heartedly committed to supporting such groups but will cross check
and verify the work that is being done by them to ensure that the funds granted are not misused.
Every attempt shall also be made by New Leaf to ensure that there are no difficulties that are
experienced in the disbursement of funds. All funds that are sought from New Leaf by the adult
support groups will be disbursed at one go, in order to facilitate their work. Efforts shall be made
by New Leaf to encourage the adult support groups to do their work in a way that may not be
regarded as discriminatory in nature. Any adult support groups that engage in discriminatory
activities will fail to receive funding and other support from New Leaf any longer.
Finally, New Leaf is an organization that will commit itself to soliciting more funds in the
future to assist and aid the work that is done by the adult support groups. Apart from following
up on the actions of such support groups, New Leaf will undertake all the measures that are
necessary to acquire as much aid as possible in order to ensure that the work that is done by the
support groups is not something that goes in vain and that they can rely on a plentiful supply of
funding provided they are able to show good work for the funds they are given.
