The Great Barrier Reef is considered as one of the seven wonders of the natural world. This
will actually provide a luxurious and adventurous experience of the tourists due to its underwater
experience which is imaginable. It has the impressive coral gardens which have been revealing
the wonderful underwater attractions which have the sets of corals. It has around 1500 species,
more than 200 types of birds and around 20 types of reptiles were found from the last 120 years
of its history (greatbarrierreef.org 2018). It is recognized as the world heritage site by UNESCO
in the year 1981. The other place in Australia is basically Whit Sundays Island. It is located on
the north coast of Queensland (australianethical.com.au 2018). It has around 74 islands and they
are made up of beautiful landscapes which are embodied with the largest coral reef in this world
(abc.net.au 2018). It has around 30 certified eco tourism products. They have the eco friendly
accommodation to be developed for providing the best of the experiences for the tourists. The
article will be focusing on the hospitality business in Great Barrier Reef and on Whit Sundays
Island.
Analysis of the article
The chosen article is focusing on the hospitality sector. This will be involving Beddara
beach house which is the close point to the Great Barrier Reef. This is the holiday rental houses
where they have been providing accommodation services for the tourists coming from all over
the world.

Discussion of the importance of the chosen business segment
The importance of the hospitality business segment chosen in this article has been very high.
With the accommodation services to be given to the tourists coming from all over the world,
there is the generation of revenue for the Beddara Beach house (australianethical.com.au 2018).
This will help in the economic growth of the country. This will help in improving the local
communities as with the economic development there is the rise of the income level of the local
people takes place which results in improving the per capital income of the country
(gbrmpa.gov.au 2018). The hospitality business will also help in providing employment
opportunities for the local people with the different jobs to be given to them. The tourists also
come from all over the world helps in generating high profitability for the Great Barrier Reef.
Influence of environmental factors on the business segment
Political- The political factor is low in this business. The local community should be raising
the voice politically in conserving the ref in such a way that they should get the political help
from the government of Australia regarding the hospitality business to be developed there.
Social- The hospitality business in Great Barrier Reef will make the local people educates
how to protect and conserve the reef which involves conserving the different species living in
this planet (greatbarrierreef.org 2018). There is funding to be given from the government for
protecting the reef which helps in educating the communities and the local people living in the
location.
Ecological- It is seen that the many fishers are connected with recreational fishing in the reef
which is hampering the lifestyle of the species living inside the water and they are getting

affected (gbrmpa.gov.au 2018). The use of bleaching agents is also affecting the aquatic
environment in the reef.
International- Due to the hospitality business in Great Barrier Reef there is improvement of
the performance of the country to be taken place.
Legal- There should be legal policies to be developed by the government of Australia
regarding the protection and conservation of the marine life in the reef.
Technological- It is seen that her are boats arranged by the Australian government where the
government officials has been doing the monitoring the reef and providing innovative solutions
due to the technologies. This is helping in changing the customer needs.
Evaluation of the factors to the business
The business is reacting positively with these factors as the business is helping to improve
the performance of the hospitality business in the reef (prd.com.au 2018). The customer needs
and demands are met with all legal and economic requirements were met.
Conclusion
The article concludes with the fact that there are responsible sustainable practices needs to
be involved in improving the performance of the hospitality business. It also concludes with the
fact that the Australian government and the local communities need to take actions for
conserving this reef in the future.
