AI Summary
This report provides an in-depth analysis of the hospitality and tourism market within the Great Barrier Reef region. It begins with an introduction to the Great Barrier Reef and its significance, followed by an examination of the importance of the tourism sector to the local community, including job creation, economic contribution, and customer segments. The report then delves into the environmental factors impacting the region, such as water quality, climate change, and legal and technological influences. It discusses how businesses are protecting the area through innovation and technology, referencing the Great Barrier Reef Marine Act and government initiatives. The report concludes by emphasizing the collaborative efforts of local groups, clubs, and the government in preserving the Great Barrier Reef for future tourism and research, highlighting the implementation of a comprehensive management strategy.

1THE HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM MARKET
Introduction
The Great Barrier Reef is one of the world’s largest coral reef system which consists of
more than 2900 individual reefs, over 900 islands which stretches for over more than 2300 kilo
meters(Ainsworth et al., 2016). The particular place is very famous for tourist who enjoy their
holidays with the family. The Great Barrier Reef can be seen from the outer space and it is
known to be the world’s largest structure which is fully made b the animals and sea creatures.
The million of tiny creatures are known as coral polyps which are found here in abundance.
According to the author Wolanski (2018) tourism is one of the most important factor in the Great
Barrier Reef region. Approximately more than two million people are known to visit the place
each and every year. However, the area also contributes more than $504 billion to the Australian
Government.
Importance of The Great Barrier Reef to the local community
According to the author Foxwell-Norton and Lester (2017) tourism is one of the most
important factor in the Great Barrier Reef region. Approximately more than two million people
are known to visit the place each and every year. However, the area also contributes more than
$504 billion to the Australian Government and to the economy. It also employs approximately
70,000 people. The place is known to satisfy the customers with the large beautiful places which
consists of hotels, bungalows, islands and natural beauty spots. However the author Wolanski
(2018) says that accordi0ng to the survey it has been found out that the customer segment of the
tourist are mostly backpackers or interstate tourists. International visitors come from North
America, Europe and Asia.

The environmental factors which are affecting the place are affecting the place are
decreased water quality of the islands the climatic changes like increase in the temperature, hot
and dry weather climates. These environmental changes are affecting the coastal development
that is impacting the fishing industry in that area. The reef is also threatened by the uncertain
storms and coral rains along with the ocean acidification. This impacts the living water bodies
living there. Regarding the legal and the technological factors which are affecting the place
mainly include the much availability of the internet in 40% of the place (Ainsworth et al., 2016).
The local government has also approved for the buildings from the year 2008. The total valuation
of the income from the approval of building near the coastal line is around $5.9 million. The
increase in the amount of the money is helping both the government bodies as well as the local
segments to take better care of the place. When talking about the improvement of the local
segments in that area it can be said that there has been an increase in the employment from the
year 2009 top 2019 b 36% (Goldberg et al. 2018). In that area the average amount of
employment is 89,000 people. According to the authors Kroon, Sch0affelke and Whitten (2016)
there has been an increase in the educational quality that is there are at p[resent more than 1000
schools which holds more than 37,000 students.
How business is protecting the place with innovation and technology.
According to Authority, G.B.R.M.P., (2016) the Australian government has made it a
point to protect the place which should be the primary objective for them. The Great Barrier Reef
Marine Act 2017 consist of the legislations that establishes a clear hierarchy with the objectives
of protecting and conserving the place. The plan also includes various types of laws and planned
drafts to restore the old values that have degraded from time to time. The values which ahs
degraded from time to time are the deterioration of the corals, seagrass, dugon, marine turtles and

taking care of the big sea birds. The draft plan also states of preservation of the water from
getting acidification and destroying the living creatures in the water (Hughes and Brodie 2016).
The place has been lined up with minimum amount of port development areas which will protect
the areas and further investigate the acidification of the water by checking the pH level.
Conclusion
In order to conclude the above research paper it can be said that both the local clubs,
group and government is working very hard to protect the place for the future visits of the
tourists. They have made up a plan which provides an overarching strategy for the management
of the Great Barrier Reef.
