Green Supply Chain Management: Construction Sector in the UAE Context

This report, based on a study published in Production Planning & Control, investigates green supply chain management (GSCM) within the construction sector, specifically in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It highlights the significant environmental impact of construction and the need for GSCM to address it. The study explores green practices, drivers, barriers, and performance implications across key stakeholders (Developers, Architects/Consultants, Contractors, and Suppliers). The research emphasizes the fragmented nature of previous studies and the importance of a comprehensive, sector-wide approach. It also provides insights into the UAE context, a region experiencing rapid construction growth and an increasing focus on green building practices, and discusses the existing literature, research methodology, and findings, including implications, limitations, and suggestions for future work. The study aims to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of greening the construction sector by understanding the perspectives of each stakeholder.
