Green man is an international art and music festival which is performed on the annual
basis, the following report will be focusing about the issues which are faced during the execution
of the Green man festival, and how the process of the conduction takes place during the festival.
The report will provide critical thinking on the action along with the critical literature review on
the whole event.
The Critical thinking is the process of skilled conceptualizing, along with analysing,
applying, evaluating and synthesising which is based on intellectual disciplined. Critical thinking
skills can be used for the exposing of bad reasoning and misconception (Laing and Frost, 2010).
This can also play very important roles in constructive tasks and the reasoning to the cooperative

TASK 1
In order to successfully conduct art and music festival, I had formulated a potential team
which will be working in direction to assist in carrying out the management and the functioning
of Green man Festival. This event festival is a legendary function for four days which is
conducted annually in August at Weish Countryside. This is worlds one of the major art and
music independent event, and for the successful conduction of this festival there were various
issues which was faced by me and my team such as, At initial level its was hard to find the
investors for the festival, in order to attract the investors our team has to show them the whole
investment criteria and assure them about succession of festival and about the profit to their
investment. Other than that our team also faced the insufficiency of the resources and problem
regarding to setting up and the selection of Venue (Laing and Frost, 2010).
There were also other management business issues faced by our team such as, Bad Cell
and internet services because of huge rush in the network, their people were unable to scroll their
Facebook and twitter and for this our team works focusing to promote the event festival at social
media and other to attract more visitors, which result in non-management of our set budget and
for this we have to manage our other investment activities. Along with all these the major issues
which were faced by our team was to the management of our budget because of addition
expenses such as Crowd Controlling and other security measures.

TASK 2
Green Man Festival is a very popular music and art festival event which is held on the
annual basis, also this is one of the major independent music and art festival well known for its
ethical approach in Brecon Beacons. This festival had evolved since 2003, with the celebration
of independent pop groups like Rock, Pop, folk and other from almost all over the world
(Stewart, 2010). Along with all these, this festival is also very much famous for its other forms of
entertainment including films, food and literature activities.
Green man Festival can be very easily reached with the help of public transports and cars.
This is the festival in lush Usk valley which began with only small fireside folk festival which
latter changed into huge event and grown to the capacity of 15,000. In 2012 the festival took
place with the theme of mud bath, the theme on this festival changes regularly to encourage
people's interest and to maintain the uniqueness of the event (Belk, Price and Peñaloza eds.,
2013). In order for the conduction of the event there are several issues which were faced such as,
Being Memorable during the whole event it was our major focus that this event will be
memorable and the guests who visit in this festival will remind this and talk about it, in order to
this our team applies simple solutions such as encouraging guest to have photographs and
appointing professional photographers at the event and promoting at social media and other
sources of the promotion, also with the help of these sites the communication of important
information can also be delivered to the peoples (Yeoman and eds., 2012).
Other major business issue which were faced by us was the Shrinking Budget, In this we
have to provide our client with our creative solutions to combat shrinking budgets and to deals
with economic downturn in the event we have to provide even tighter budgets for our
functioning. Other problems such as short Lead time issues in which our team has to face
delayed payment for the investors and delayed resource's availability, In this matter our
management team has to extend their budgets limits and needed to develop other budgets for this
type of emergencies. In order for the success of the event our team also has to work on issues
like Cost risings, for this we have to accustom to the venue and the suppliers by offering clever
and creative ensuring for their better return on their investment.
Other, Issues such as Environment issues in which our event management team has to
work in progressive direction that the adverse impacts of this festival on the environment can be
reduced as much as possible (Matheson, Rimmer and Tinsley, 2014). For this we have to expose

many of the green initiatives and other processes to manage the cleaning of the venue after the
event. Many of the issues were also faced by the team in order to deal with the technology such
as, it was little hard to manage the communication problems with the peoples and barriers which
arises during the storage of confidential data. For to carry out the event smoothly it was essential
to focus on the advancement of technology which can provide cost efficiency and resources to
implement digital solutions, communication and other internal processes to carry out the Event
more effectively but again in this process lack of investment and money was faced by our team.
At initial it was also very much difficult for us in the selection of team to carry the
festival, that is selection process which consist of appointing right people at appropriately right
position. In this the Event manager need to have the full visibility into the workload and required
skills to carry out the event successfully by managing my resources, vendors, outsourcers and
contractors (Dumas and et.al., 2013). Even after knowing all the capabilities of everyone it also
little hard for me to appoint most appropriate team (Pollard‐Urquhart, 2017). In addition to this,
to keep the constant changing and development in the festival, many of the action were taken by
the system to provide the resources to us such as reducing the cost of travelling to the venue, this
step taken by the system was helpful for the visitors but also puts some adverse effects on the
income to the travel agencies and other sponsors who had invested to make the profit from the
festival. During the management of an event many of the business issues like event security and
the increase in the boundations by the Government, in this context our many of the changes were
made to follow the instructions by the system of the country, these changes in the festival results
in demotivating and the visitors and reduces the interest of people to visit the festivals.
During the Art and Music festival many of the other conflicts also arises such as, the
promotion of Art at such big level encourages the artist to become the best at the festivals and
this kind of thinking develops a sense of competition in between the artists which was reducing
the transparency and fun environment in the festivals. Current it is seen that the people of Green
Man weren't happy because of Ryan Adams didn't perform his Robin Hood song and others
conflicts, these type of activities may put adverse effects on the mentality of visitors which
reduces the rate of visiting to the festival and also this may aggressively motivate people to take
action against these types of activities (Etzion, Niblett and Luckham, 2011). Many of the issues

continuously has to work on the security factors and management of such huge crowd (Ulrich
and Sarasin eds., 2012).
In the festival of Green Man, along with the Art activities the most attracting source to
the visitors form all over the world is their Music Functions. People from all around the world
visit the festival just because to enjoy the music concerts and to present their skills, this festival
for individual also acts as the resource by which they are able to perform and explore their skills
and talent to the whole world. It is also a threat for the event management to check and provide
resources and satisfaction to the visitors which will increases the image and popularity of the
Green Man Festival (Weiss, 2014).
After the foundation of Green man Festival also their were many of the conflicts and
business issues arises within the stakeholders of the festival and other money landers. As this
Event Festival was founded by the Daniel and Josephine Hagan In 2003, who were able to
successfully organise first three festival events taking the help and support from Kenneth Lower.
Later after 2005, some conflicts started to arise in between the stakeholders of the festival which
was breaking their unity ad they started moving out from the Green man by selling their shares
(Khurana, 2010). In 2005, Fiona Stewart was taken to assist the organisation infrastructure and
the company was formulated to this which saw the Hagans holding that is 23.5% each, this
company was formed to take care the management of Event's development and in this Fiona
Stewart was holding 48% of the share and Kenneth lower was holding their 5%. But later at the
time of 2009, the investors found they were not getting good amount of profit of their investment
they started moving out from the company and selling their shares to others, in 2009 Kenneth left
the company by selling his shares to the other stakeholder (Stokes, Wilson and Wilson, 2010). In
2011, the Hagans sold their company shares to Fiona Stewart and he also left the company. This
continuous back-stepping by the investors was acting as the major business Issue which was
arising in the conduction of the Green Man Festival.
In order to deal with this type of continuous back stepping by the potential stakeholder
and investors of event our team was also working to provide huge amount of the profit to the
Stakeholder, in relation to this we had developed even better and developed budgetary plans for
the processing of the event. For this we had reduced the best possible costing in the processing of
the Event and developed other sources of income from the event. Such as tickets rates,
performance charges and others (Sadgrove, 2016). We had also arranged the music concerts
