SUSTAINABILITY AND CSR THROUGH GREEN SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT
1. Problem Statement
It has been observed in the current researches that consumers in the current time period
and the corporate stakeholders are becoming conscious in accordance to the society and the
environment. It is due to this fact that various business organizations, specially the companies
functioning in the manufacturing industry are looking for an effective way to take care of their
supply chain in order to socially responsible.
According to Hsueh, (2015), supply chain management needs to be taken care of in a
planned manner and needs to be placed in the core of the competitive assessment of an
organization. As the organizations are not able to attain the objective of lowering expenses or
enhancing the profit by managing their supply chain management with the help of their partners
and therefore they look to become competitive entirely within their industry by taking care of
their supply chain management.
The strategic importance of supply chain management even focuses on the fact that
supply chain management and its network is swiftly enhancing as the organizations and the
suppliers within the supply chain are working together very closely (Bhardwaj, 2016). Therefore,
green supply chain management is becoming a matter of inter-company more than a standalone
issue for any one company. The modern business environment that is competitive in nature is in
need of sustainability of the supply chain and product greenness.
It is due to this fact that most of the organizations have already undertaken strategic
alterations and movements towards green supply chain by redefining the product and service
concepts, redesigning the process of supply chain activities and product life cycle and
incorporate the current international standards (Paulraj et al., 2017).
