2) Issues faced by Greggs :
Greggs is one of the most famous and the largest bakery chains in the UK known best for their
sausage rolls and pastry. The most recent problem faced by Greggs at the beginning of 2019 is
that they are not able to keep up with the demand of the consumers, their latest product “the new
sausage rolls( vegan) has been doing great business and hitting off immediately and flying out of
the shelves. These vegan rolls are priced £1 and it has taken the management by surprise because
of its popularity almost immediately after its launch causing the depletion of the stocks. With a
lot of consumers being Inclined towards the Trend of veganism or vegetarianism, this is the
highest selling Greggs product in past 6years.
In the wake of this demand, the management decided to increase its production. With the
increase in production, they have been able to supply it adequately to all the retail chains that
have been selling Greggs products. To suit the changing demand of the consumers they have
worked towards changing the taste and also the overall packaging quality of the item. There are
about 2000 Greggs stores altogether. With the crisis of Brexit, they had to inadvertently shut
down 50 stores last year but slowly as their products are gaining more popularity they plan to
open 100 outlets every year till they make it to 2500 mark throughout the country. With the
action from the management, they were able to overcome this issue almost immediately and have
been meeting the customer needs and doing a great business.
3) Linking CSR to strategy:
Being in a Business or being the owner of an organisation, it is equally important to be good for
the world. It is very important to link corporate social responsibility to strategy, few benefits are
given below.
● United design thinking approaches
Keeping the business very close to the market is very important and this approach helps in
bringing new and different innovative information into the process. The combined design
thinking approach helps to get new and innovative ideas from various different minds making the
end product different and more likeable by the public.
● A sustainable and strong partnership
Different individuals have expertise in different fields. Through partners, we get to know the
capabilities of other networks. Rather than creating their own opportunities connecting to
partners help companies to develop a meaningful corporate social responsibility (Carey, 2016).

While minimising the impact on the environment, Greggs is committed to making good food and
delivering freshly prepared food to the customers. To have a positive impact on people’s lives
Greggs has come up with a lot of environmentally friendly ways. They came up with the vegan
rolls which are completely dairy-free and cruelty-free which was an instant hit immediately.
Apart from this, there are many other ways and many other projects taken up by Greggs which
has directly or indirectly or indirectly benefited the society and the future generations to come.
3) Impact of Brexit on Greggs:
There are many speculations toBrexit. There are optimistic predictions by the campaigners of
Brexit about the growth of businesses meanwhile some feel that leaving the EU has been the
biggest mistake of Britain. Brexit has affected Greggs and these are some of the examples
● The exporting of products and items can become expensive as the tariffs will hike
automatically making the products more expensive.
● It will impact employment and labour as the migrants will start looking for jobs and
work outside the UK. Unemployment will see a drastic rise and it can increase due to
recession and changes in the labour law. The company might have to give away its
best and most resourceful employees.
● This is one of the positive impacts, the regulations and obligations will be lesser.
Greggs will be able to trade and negotiate freely following its own terms and
conditions with all other countries globally. The employment opportunities or
prospects also have a chance of increasing and not just limiting to EU.
The Mentioned points are a few of the impact that Brexit will have on Greggs. There will be both
negative and positive impact but all businesses will work on improving the prospects (Amos,
2018).
4) Experience working as a team:
It was a very good experience working as a team. We as team members were divided into groups
of two and every group had their own task and information to be gathered, eventually, all the
information that was gathered by us was displayed and made it into a presentation. The most
important part of as a team was to communicate, it made us aware what the other members were
up to and how much progress they had done so far. We needed to communicate also to clear any
confusion or doubts. The other important thing was Listening, to be able to understand

something or someone it is very important to listen and understand what the other person is
saying (Abed, 2015).
There are a lot of benefits from working as a team.
● Creativity – We become more creative in a group and get to share ideas and suggestions.
● Conflict management skills- As a team, we are not just individuals working for a goal,
we are like a family and if there tends to be a conflict or a misunderstanding we need to
clear it immediately.
● Healthy risk-taking- If there is a risk involved, it will be a group decision to take that
risk and go ahead or not, thus making it simpler for everyone as a team and no blame
game involved.
Skill areas I need to develop
I need to develop my public speaking skills. Not just delivering a presentation, this skill comes to
play in many different ways. With experience and with the help of this excellent team I will
definitely be able to improve it even more. Practice will make it perfect (Abed, 2016).
