organising, controlling as well as that of leadership. Planning is that function of management
which is involved with the setting of objectives and the determination of a course of action for
the achievement of these specific objectives. Planning comprises of managers being aware of the
environmental conditions which their organisation is faced with in order to forecast future
conditions. Organising is that function of management which is concerned with the development
of an organisational structure and the design of individual jobs within the organisation. Leading
is concerned with the social and informal sources of influence which help people take action that
is inspired by others. Controlling is concerned with the fact that the level of performance does
not deviate from the existing standards. There are also several methods by which the
performance can be measured (Shafritz, Ott & Jang, 2015).
It often happens however, that when an organisation grows there is huge difficulty in the
effective management and handling of the company operations.
