ACTIVITY 1A
List three (3) needs a group may have that affect their activity? Briefly explain each one.
1. Physical or medical problems: These are related to the physical features of the
group members. It can be a physical disability or everything that defines their
interaction with their surroundings (Jhangiani and Tarry, 2019).
2. Cognitive problems: This pertains to the inability to make decisions. This can be due
to hindrance in the growth of brain by birth or any brain damage that affects the
mental skills (Jhangiani and Tarry, 2019).
3. Mental health problems: People suffering from anxiety or depression find it difficult
to interact with others. It affects their mood, personality, motivation level and so on
(Jhangiani and Tarry, 2019).
ACTIVITY 1B
State three (3) considerations when generating ideas in group work.
Generation and sharing of ideas is the main goal of group activities. Following should be taken
into account:
1. Group wishes: Group members shows interest in those activities they wish to do. Taking
their wish into consideration and adapting them in the activities keeps their enthusiasm
level high (UNSW teaching, 2019).
2. Venues and equipment: The atmosphere in which the group members are working has a
huge impact on efficiency. A clean environment with proper equipment helps in raising
and maintaining their interest levels high (UNSW teaching, 2019).
3. Requirements: Group members might have their way of doing things and for that, they
might need certain things. Taking this into consideration keeps their interest up and
makes them feel valued (UNSW teaching, 2019).

ACTIVITY 1C
Choose one (1) group activity you could organise and give an example of a venue, piece of
equipment and information material that would be required.
Taking the example of trekking, where a group of people with few volunteers and a leader get
together and explore places in the wild.
1. Venue: It will be the place where the trekking will be done. The place should be safe and
easy to trek with minimum dangers of the wild. The trek can be long or short depending
upon the length of the trek and time slots of different activities.
2. Equipment: Certain equipment that is required while trekking like trekking shoes, ropes,
harnesses, walkie-talkie, dagger and many more along with other essentials like food,
drinking water and medical supplies.
3. Information material: Information material of trekking may include safety measures,
precautions, dos and don’ts, schedule and timing details, details about the venue,
checkpoint and other such information.
ACTIVITY 1D
State one (1) strategy you can use if some of the resources are not available when required.
Taking trekking into consideration, there are times when the appropriate resources are not
available at the time of need, in such cases, the leader has to use the resources available. For
example, in the absence of clean drinking water, the water available in the streams, lakes or
ponds nearby can be purified using sands and other such granules of different grain size to
purify the impurities and it can be boiled further to get rid of micro-impurities as well. One can
also use the technique of evaporation to evaporate the clean water from a container and later
collect it on the cover of the container, leaving the impurities in the container.

List three (3) organisational procedures that apply when organising resources.
The 3 examples of organizational procedures for organizing resources are:
1. Human resource: The employees are first recruited based on interviews/exams, then
their skills are tested and assessed, then they are giving proper training and depending
upon the skills they have learned, they are accordingly positioned/organized for the
work they are best suited for.
2. Raw material: First the organization places the order for the raw material required, then
the order is received and placed according to their shelf life and in an appropriate
condition, they are arranged in such a way that the departments who need them can
find it easily and in less time.
3. Monetary resources: First the data provided by the accounting department is gathered,
then based on it, the budget is created for each department and the monetary resources
are allocated according to it.
ACTIVITY 2A
Define strengths-based practice.
Also known as asset-based approach pertains to the ability of the people to solve their
problems using their own skills and knowledge. It can be applied to group activities also
where the people are in-charge of the task assigned by them and problems occurring
while its execution. People should be allowed to show and further polish their skills by
using it in a challenging situation. Different people possess different skills and integrated
collaboration of these skills can be of great use to achieve their common goal. For this,
they should be encouraged to show their skills and appreciated for making the efforts
(Stoerkel, 2019).
List three (3) key activities involved in collaborative planning.
The 3 key activities of collaborative planning are:
Document Page
1. Asking the opinion of each team member to reach a common ground of conclusion
so that each member feels appreciated and included.
2. Asking each member to generate ideas for an issue/problem or to create a new
procedure for a task, this way their talents and skills are properly utilized.
3. Acknowledging the aims and objectives of each group member by each-other helps
to create a stronger bond within them, this helps in more effective collaborative
planning.
ACTIVITY 2B
A group has requested that you organise a coffee morning or a similar event. They would like
it to be conducted in the town centre and the venue must be accessible by wheelchair.
Identify three (3) possible needs and expectations. Rank them in order of priority and explain
why you ordered these as you did.
1. Enough room/space for everyone: The first and foremost need/expectation of the
attenders will be enough room for everyone who is attending so that they can sit and
communicate comfortably.
2. Facilities like clean washroom, medical supplies: This comes secondary and it makes
sure that people don’t feel any discomfort at the time of emergency and stay for long.
3. Ambience: As these coffee mornings are usually held to raise funds for charity, it is
important to take care of the ambience because it affects their mood and
consecutively their decision making.
ACTIVITY 2C
Give one (1) example of a SMART objective for a group activity of your choice.
Taking the example of a food donation program, its SMART assessment will be as follows:
Specific: The success of a food donation program is measured by the reach, the number
of people or villages benefited.
Measurable: The team have a target of distributing a specific amount of food or

donating to a targeted amount of people or villages within the time allotted.
Attractive: Donation is way so that the people can practice the art of giving, generosity
and gratitude which have scientifically proven benefits like improved mood, mental
health, self-esteem, aggression reduction and many more.
Reasonable: Donation doesn’t take much skill except for the management team. The
management team needs to keep a track of time, accounting the activity, making sure
everyone is safe and the food reaches the right hands.
Time-sensitive: The food donation programs have a time limit, decided on the basis of
every volunteer’s comfort, their ability to travel, food decay and more such factors.
ACTIVITY 2D
You are interacting with a client whose beliefs are fundamentally different to your own. Give
three (3) strategies you would use to minimise any impacts of this.
Culture: People usually have cultural differences between them. By making them realize
the benefits of unity and group work through proper leadership skills, its effect can be
minimized (Zav, 2019).
Communication: People have different linguistic preferences. Using a common well-
known language or by educating/training them to communicate more efficiently them
can help. One can also use an interpreter (Zav, 2019).
Procedure: Everyone has their own unique way of doing things which may cause
conflicts. Following strict principles like they should be respectful, have the opportunity
to contribute and assessment of their procedures, a common way can be found (Zav,
2019).
ACTIVITY 2E
Explain what is meant by empathetic responding and how you can demonstrate it.
Empathetic responding means showing empathy to somebody's concern or issue. It is done to
make people feel that they are understood, valued and respected. It can be done by listening to
Document Page
them patiently, try to solve or guide through the problem, help them, leaning towards them
while listening and making eye contact (Click, 2017).
Define the authoritarian style of leadership.
It is a type of leadership where the leaders give strict orders as an authority without considering
the individual feeling of the members. This type of leadership is effective when there is a
constant flow of new members or little time available to complete tasks but is ineffective in
those teams where unity and strong bonding is the concern (Janse, 2019).
ACTIVITY 3A
Difference between Open and Closed Communication
In open communication, allow all the member of the group to communicate openly and give their
opinions in making decisions. It also motivates the team members to give best at the workplace by using
various motivational techniques. Closed communication is present when a member of the group
dominating the other member of the group (Foulkes, 2018).
Stages of Group Development
Forming This Stage, explain people come at a different level of organization than make a group to
complete the task. In this stage, the roles and responsibilities of the group set (Carper, 2017).
Storming: In this stage, some members of the group create conflicts and members have clear knowledge
about their responsibilities. If conflict resolve than group comes in the next stage.
Norming: In Norming, stage team members can trust each other and complete the work by using their
skill and knowledge according to need (Carper, 2017).
Performing: In the Performing stage, the team increases productivity because they trust each other and
making their efforts for completing the task without creating problems.
Adjourning: In Adjourning, group goals should achieve and the team members leave the group and go to
another group for the success of another project (Carper, 2017).

ACTIVITY 3B
What should consider to Diverse Participants
People in a group task have different in gender, skills, capabilities from each other. Leader of the group
has a responsibility to encourage the team members to behave properly and understand each other
sentiments and beliefs. Member of the group always wants the team members and the leader of the
group respects him (Detry and Ma, 2016).
ACTIVITY 3C
Explain five ways compromising can prevent conflicts
Compromising is away, which helps in resolving the conflicts. Leader of the group tries to agree the
person of the group make some compromises if members are different from each other in their
behavior and opinion and encourage the team members to make efforts for achieving the group goals
(Wallensteen, 2018).
One way voting prevent conflicts
Voting is a method, which allows all the team members to share their opinion by giving votes and the
person whose opinion wins are accepted by the other members. All the members should agree with the
opinion of that person. It is the best way to resolve conflicts and use by many organizations
(Wallensteen, 2018).
ACTIVITY 3D
Positive conflicts can give challenges to group members and creates a
competitive environment.
Positive Conflicts gives some benefits they are:
Positive conflicts encourage team members to do work in a creative manner (Salas et
al., 2015).
Positive conflict encourages team members to focus on work, not on the persons.
Positive conflict encourages the member to give new ideas and opinions (Salas et al.,
2015).

ACTIVITY 3E
Define People Responsibilities in Work Place and how can you motivate them?
It is the responsibility of the people working in a team to give respect to each other and their opinions
and solves the problem related to the task can be solved by group discussion. In the conflict, the
situation leader should encourage the team members to complete the task by actively participate in
group activities (Lizzo, 2019).
How the Opinions of participants affect the Conflicts
Encourage team members to behave in a good way at the workplace.
To listen to the thoughts and opinions of other people reduce conflicts situation (Lizzo,
2019).
Group members should make some compromise for completing the task on time.
To encourage the team member’s involvement in in-group discussion to reduce conflicts
(Lizzo, 2019).
To motivate peoples to understand the behavior of others.
ACTIVITY 3F
Explain the benefits of Debriefing
Debriefing is a tool and technique, which give information to the participants about what
reason for which conflicts arise (Fabijan et al., 2015).
Debriefing helps the members to make an analysis of conflicts and collect information
about why conflicts happen.
Debriefing helps the members to resolve the conflicts, which arise by listening and
communicating with each other (Fabijan et al., 2015).
ACTIVITY 4A
Explain techniques of feedback on how you can develop this technique
To resolve the conflicts leader of the team get continuous feedback about the completion of the task
and group goals. This could done by the following technique (Rowley and Hartley, 2017).
Firstly, members of the group have knowledge of aims and objectives and the leader can take
continuous feedback from employees for the completion of work.
One should get the feedback from the group discussion so that the group discussion can give good
results and this will help in making good communication between members of the group (Rowley and
Hartley, 2017)
Document Page
One should receive feedback on the work from the participant about what time they achieve group
goals and what improvement are see after the resolution of conflicts (Rowley and Hartley, 2017).
ACTIVITY 4B
Explain three ways to get feedback from own performance
For receiving the feedback, employees should evaluate and measure the progress of
work done by them (Resendes et al., 2015).
Feedback should receive to compare the behavior of members of a group from past
behavior to present behavior.
Feedback should receive by analyzing the attitude of group members towards their work
(Resendes et al., 2015).
Explain two aspects of work performance to receive feedback
Leadership Style: For seeking the feedback, it should remembered that the leadership style gives good
result and its importance in the present situation.
Communication Skill: Feedback of the work should receive by making communication with the team
members about the problems and progress of work for good results (Resendes et al., 2015).
ACTIVITY 4C
Explain three procedure of organization, which used in documenting
information
Some organizational procedure used for documenting information they are:
Accuracy: It is important to all the members to give accurate information about the work (Whyte et al.,
2016).
Complete Documents: There is a need for the organization that employees give all the information
about the group and work in proper documents.
Confidentiality: Information about the group activity is confidential so the members give correct data so
that this information (Whyte et al., 2016).
