By considering the Guest Speaker's Session, it is analysed that studied hotel industry is
belongs from 3 stars and has limited options in their hotels. Despite from this, they offer 24*7
kitchen services because sometimes guests arrive at night and demand for food. They also has
different types of policies which changes according to insiders and outsiders. Moreover, they
offer pizza services at 24 hours which is provided by front office staff to their arriving guests but
there is a betrayal as it is the duty of kitchen staff to provide food and also need to understand
suitable tips to work in kitchen.
What are the importance of requisite skills in facilities management in hotel industry as
explained by Guest Speaker?
From this Session, it is analysed that requisite skills are significant to learn things in an
effective manner. By evaluating the staff of hotel, it is identified that they are skilled and
knowledgeable and because of their skills they can perform many tasks at one time. For example,
in many hotels, front office department pursue duties of kitchen staff. Apart from this, hotels has
small conference rooms in which they conduct events and parties at small level and here, kitchen
department plays an essential role in serving food and beverages to guests (La Barbera and et.
al., 2017).

hotel industry?
This session impacted the knowledge concerned with hotel industry as there are various
kinds of hotels who offer limited services. To perform required tasks and functions, training and
development plays an important role as knowledgeable individual perform functions in an
effective manner (Carle and Schweiggert, 2016). Additionally, property management system is
also significant in reducing the wastage from hotel. It also enhanced our knowledge regarding
the hotel as 3 stars hotels does not offer cocktails as it is provided on special request of
customers and alcohol is served in their bars and lounges.

I am pursuing this course and on the basis of my determination, I came to know that
hotels has skilled and knowledgeable staff who can pursue many functions at same time. For

this, experience plays an important role and their values concerning to their professional life is
important to learn many information related to hotel industry. Customers take reservation in
hotels as sometimes there is no vacant place and also has limited available options.
Based on your self appraisal, what would you do improve on these skills?
By analysing the self appraisal, it is a very good experience to gain knowledge which is
concerned with hotel industry but I think that there is lack of practical experience within the
employees. As individuals has lot of theoretical knowledge but they does not get suitable
platform on which they can apply their knowledge.
How has this Guest Speaker's Session shape your understanding of facilities management in
hotel industry?
By considering this session, it is analysed that here are various kinds of food, menu,
kitchen and related equipments. Hotel industry offer different services which are fast and English
and also changes according to their respective guests (Mattarozzi and et. al., 2017). For this,
hotels need experienced and skilled employees and after all this, they offer extra training to their
employees which is helpful in reducing waste and improves the performance of employees.
