Personal Statement
The profession of nursing is a noble one, and I am immensely inspired by Florence Nightingale.
This personal statement includes my interests in the profession of nursing, as I plan to take up a
3-year undergraduate MSc nursing course. I have completed my studies in Business
Administration and I see a lot of opportunity in the career of nursing and aim to take up a
professional role. This personal statement focuses on the reason behind selecting the profession
and some information regarding my interests.
A career in nursing has tremendous opportunities in the UK, hence I aimed to take up a
profession in nursing. The subjects which are included in the nursing course includes knowledge
relative to medicine, health, social policies and many more. These subjects attract my interests
and I want to focus on public health policy at a later stage of the course. This would allow me to
attain a position as a public health nursing expert by taking responsibility in reducing the
incidence of public health diseases and providing vaccination to children effectively. I have gone
through several job portal websites and found there is a high demand for nurses in public health.
The profession provides immense opportunities for growth and also there is an option to apply at
the NHS. Not only I will be able to enhance my career but I will also be able to contribute to the
community. I am passionate about taking care of sick patients as I can create an impact on
patient’s life. Through this profession, I will be directly able to contribute to society, which is
one of the major reason for selecting this career and making a transition from international
business management course. I want to bring about a change to my community by joining as a
professional nurse and serving people. Earlier as I had worked as a unit clerk and the learning I
had can be accommodated in the nursing profession. My future plans after completion of the
program of nursing will be to join either the NHS or a leading healthcare organization, from
where I can learn first handedly. With the knowledge of nursing that I gain I will be able to serve
the ailing patients of my country and bring about an effective management system within
healthcare with my existing skills and capabilities.
Having seen patient suffering from very close, have impacted me and moved me. Due to which I
want to reduce patient suffering through continuously supporting them and counseling them
psychologically. I wanted to undertake a challenging career and bring about difference in

people’s lives daily. As a nurse there is bound to be variety in the routine in patient care, I feel I
will be able to undertake it. Helping patient and their families through a difficult time period will
be extremely satisfying for me. I have seen my aunt, who is a nurse, the satisfaction that she gets
everyday by helping people. My aunt inspired me tremendously and I wanted to do something
special in my life.
The domain of healthcare is rapidly changing and transforming, a nurse’s role is considered to be
integral in contributing efficacy and effectiveness in healthcare. I possess leadership ability and
problem-solving skills with enthusiasm to participate and work in teams. I feel I can emerge as
an effective team player in the domain of public health nursing. I have analytical capabilities also
with which I can easily arrive at a solution to a problem. Therefore, as a professional nurse, I will
easily be able to solve patient-oriented problems. I have interests in reading and interacting with
people, which can easily transcend and help me bring about an impact in the profession of
nursing.
Having enthusiasm for taking part in a course might not be sufficient for emerging as a
successful professional nurse. Through dedication, hard work and commitment it is possible to
become an efficient professional nurse. I will continue in a dedicated manner in my studies and
emerge as a successful professional.
