The report discusses the impact of gun control laws on crime rates, referencing government claims of decreased homicide rates. GUN CONTROL
Gun Control (Firearms regulation) is being considered as number of laws/policies which
keeps it control on manufacturing, sales, transfer, modifications, possession and use of guns or
firearms done by common people (Spitzer, R. J. 2015). In United States, ample number of cases
came in front in past few years which made central government to formulate different policies
and laws so that cases can be reduced to minimal. Whole report will focus on Gun Control based
on the thesis “An Analysis of State Gun Control Laws and their Effect on Violent Crime”. In
past few years, mass shooting cases that has been carried out in front of the government that has
been done at Sandy Hook Elementary School in New town, Connecticut and Century Theatre in
Aurora, Colorado, which made whole environment hot and have became an intense section for a
political debate related to gun control laws (8 facts about gun control in the US, 2018). Statement
is continuously showing that most of the political debates on gun control raised a number of
conflicts among both political parties and civilians. Here, it has been critically analysed that what
author have mentioned was somewhat right because gun control is a sensitive topic which cannot
be discussed over any media. On the other hand, it is also argumented that any modifications
needs to be discussed in front of civilians as they should be aware of current facts and figures
related to the topic.
After implementation of the law in united states regarding the gun control the rate of
crime and murder is decreased to the certain level. In fact the government of united stats claims
that the rate of homicide is the lowest in the last 15 years (Xia and et. al., 2014). The above line
concludes that the law has made the positive impact safety and security of people in united
states. After tolerating severe attacks on the innocent people in early the law making authority of
US had passed the agreement. In which US government had banned the use of highly

damageable weapons and also taken strict action on the licensing policies of guns and the US
government also initiated the buyback programs of the prohibited guns through which large
number of guns were being collected from the civilians of US and this made the real positive
impact to decrease the rate of crime plus people of united states were also feeling safe and
secure in their own country (Clarke, 2017).

Away with this, it has also been found that a good percentage of civilians who were
already being charged for any crime like murder with the help of gun and in other assault cases
were against the Gun Control Laws. They have mentioned that why they cannot get licence for a
Firearms when they have already got the punishment for the wrong act they have done in the
past. After when proper analysis of report that has been developed by government of United
States, it can easily be said that crime rates related to ammunition got reduced in previous years.
Therefore, rules should be same but strict for every one like person i.e. a past criminal or a

common civilian who have never been charged before (Rossi, 2017). Away with this, if it is
talked about mass killing then, it can be said that in past few years, number of shooting cases
raised up spread fear among Americans and most of the cases were found in schools and
universities that took place.
Considering both the positive and negative aspects, one can say that a person can have
the license to possess a gun but there needs to be a check on such possession. Keeping guns can
be seen as a measure of defence for yourself, family and your home. But a person who has
previously been charged of any crime or held guilty by the Government and fined for the same
should be given the possession after some regulatory check (Jena, Sun and Prasad, 2014). But, it
is important that there should be more strict laws against those who have previously been held
guilty by the Government of United States because there is a high possibility that they might
commit a crime again in near future depending on their mental status. There should be a higher
imposition of fine or punishments against them than the punishments levied if a person is first
held guilty.
From the above study, it can be concluded that treating all individuals equally as per Gun
laws in United States have both pros and cons at the same time. Allowing license for possessing

a gun to a person can be legal only when it is kept for self or family defence. Prohibition of this
law is only for those who already being charged for attempt any crime.
