1GUN PROBLEMS OF AMERICA
The present-day scenario within the American territories reveal that the control over the
guns is a serious issue. There are several views regarding this raging issue in the American
society. A certain section of the society opine that the guns should be used by the citizens in
order to maintain their own safety within the given country. On the contrary, another section of
the society claims that the free access to the guns and the control over the usage of the guns and
other such artillery (Stimson). However, it is a widely accepted fact that the American society
has been facing a plethora of problems due to the use of the guns. The following paper attempts
to shed light on the gun control issues that are presented in the United States of America. The
control of the availability of guns among the residents of the country is often considered to be
helpful in the reduction of the various crimes that have been taking place in the country in the
recent times.
The supporters of the National Rifle Association state that the availability of the guns is
useful for the enhancement of the self-protection. The experts of this view highlight the fact
availability and the freedom in the use of the guns tend to help in the maintenance of the security
of the concerned individuals. The modern-day situation reveals that the country has been witness
to a plethora of crimes that involved the use of firearms and especially guns. There have been
various assaults and other such incidents that had taken place in the country. Goodman and Perry
opine that a majority of these incidents could be avoided with the help of the proper use of
firearms by the victims as well. The lack of the licensed and approved possession of the guns at
the hands of the victim.

majority of the issues regarding the gun control and the other incidents have been an outcome of
the carelessness and inattentiveness of the parents. The experts suggest that the guns are not an
easy access for the children since they are generally kept under safety conditions. The experts are
generally of the opinion that the majority of the issues generally arise from lack of the
attentiveness on the part of the parents as well as the other mentor figures like the teachers and
educators.
The other factors that should be considered alongside the control of the guns refers to the
detection of the mental health issues that are faced by the children. The mental health issues that
are highlighted among the children often lead to the various conditions wherein they get
proactively involved in the usage of guns. The children as well as the other learners should be
provided with proper counselling and other such therapies in order to help them in dealing with
their mental issues (Filindra and Kaplan 265). The lack of the proper discussion on the ill-effects
of bullying and other such activities in order to deal in the matters that might lead to the
development of the aggressiveness among the children. The other factor that have been leading
to the increase in the criminal activities involving guns refer to the freedom that is granted by the
American governmental policies in terms of procurement of guns (Fairchild 20). The increase in
the buying of guns and firearms by one of the citizens often encourage the others to follow suit.
This in turn might be considered to be a supportive step in the increase of the criminal activities
that have been taking place in the country. These in turn leads to the decrease in the maintenance
of the safety and the security of the residents of the country (Goss 462). Thus, the governmental
policies should be improvised in dealing with the issues of gun control that is present within the
country.
