Introduction
Background of study
Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
are gaining prominence in the healthcare sector as
the hospitals start to take up new technology in their
premises. The healthcare industry is providing
quality services with the aid of ICT. The study
focuses on the deployment of Healthcare Information
System (HIS) in the healthcare industry. The HIS in
the hospitals is used for data storing, data accessing
and data processing (Akbulut, Terekli & Yıldırım,
2012). There are several HIS systems like e-Public
Health Information Systems and Community Health
Information Network (CHIN). Guney Hastanesi
Hospital currently adopts HIS in their premise and is
facing issues associated with the security, privacy
and confidentiality. The study explains model by
which the hospital can carry out business activities
effectively by mitigating all the risks and issues.

The study aims for an advanced
business process model for Guney
Hastanesi Hospital so that they can conduct
the business activities effectively and
efficiently. The entire business process
model will be built from scratch. It is
expected the new model will resolve all the
issues related to security that they are
facing right now.

Literature Review
System Theories and Health Information Systems (HIS)
HIS facilitates decision making in the healthcare sector. It eases data storage,
data access and data process. HIS cam provides accurate and reliable results if
implied in an appropriate manner in the health sector (Cinaroglu & Baser,
2017). However, Guney Hastanesi Hospital has struggled with the security,
privacy and the confidential data issues.
Types
The study elaborates three types of health information system, one is the
Clinical Information System (CIS), the second one is the Community Health
Information Network (CHIN) and the third one is the e-Public health
information systems (Suder & Durucu, 2015).
Technologies used in the HIS
There are various kinds of tools that are used alongside technology in creating
and managing the Health Information System (HIS) (Olcay, 2013). The study
demonstrates the use of tools- semantic web, web services, health grid and
VOIP.

are the project management tools that are helpful in

get an effective outcome. Critical path ensures that the
project will be completed within the stipulated deadline

structure divides all the project activities in a hierarchical
structure. The project stakeholders can know their
responsibilities, they can know the deadline for the tasks.
Agile project management tools, PRINCE2 project
management tools and SCRUM model can enhance the
hospital's business activities.

Critical Review
Benefits of HIS
The HIS can provide multiple benefits to Guney Hastanesi Hospital.
The hospital can store data, access and process patients' data well and
thus can serve the patients well. Guney Hastanesi Hospital can record
the patients' feedback with the help of HIS. Thus the feedback will help
them to know how they can serve the patients (Aksu, et al., 2015). The
patients with the aid of the HIS can be able to choose their lifestyle
proactively, they can take any critical decision to make their life
healthy.
Limitations of HIS
The healthcare sectors are more focussed on HIS rather on
workers. The HIS is capable to provide fast, effective and accurate
solutions that is why the healthcare sectors are preferring HIS. Guney
Hastanesi Hospital is no exception (Groves, et al., 2013). The workers
are losing jobs for the increasing trends of HIS.

Discussion
The study focuses on both functional and non-
functional requirements for the Guney Hastanesi
Hospital. Registration of patients, the creation of
MYSQL database, building user interface,
hardware interface, software interface are all
functional requirements (Kirimlioglu, 2017). The
non-functional requirements are good system
performance, security, software quality,
availability and maintainability that have been
explained in the report.

Soft Sytems Methodology is applicable
in understanding all the security issues in
details. The hospital can get to know how

The hackers can hack the
database and the system of the hospital
and can get access the sensitive
information of the database. The hackers
modify the data and delete the data as
well. The antivirus software gets
tampered sometimes lead to leakage of
the patients’ data. The documentation
errors also lead to data loss. The intruders
get access to the system by hacking
password. The stakeholders and the
patients carelessness also lead to data
breaches. The business operations of the
hospital are getting disrupted due to the
data security and privacy.

strength and opportunities that soft systems methodology
(SSM) presents to Guney Hastanesi Hospital. The hospital has
the strength to offer impeccable services to the patients, on the

has the opportunity to use HIS effectively to gain public
awareness (Sun & Reddy, 2013). The hospital has threats
regarding data loss and data breaches.
Poor management, poor technology and worse decision
making can lead to project failure, for this risks assessment
has been conducted as well. The study also focuses on
