AI Summary
This report details the research methodology employed in a study of the Hadhil dialect, covering linguistic, social, and historical aspects. The study adopts a positivism research paradigm and a deductive research approach to explore the language's characteristics and its relationship with Arabic. The research utilizes both qualitative and quantitative methods, including surveys and interviews, to gather data from 100 native Hadhil speakers. Participants are divided into bilingual and monolingual groups to provide comprehensive insights. The methodology section also outlines ethical considerations, ensuring the protection of participant data and adherence to ethical guidelines. The report provides a clear explanation of the research methods, data collection procedures, and ethical considerations used to investigate the Hadhil dialect.

Chapter 3: Research Methodology
Introduction
Research style is mainly referred to as the methods used for collecting relevant and proper
information for the current study of research. The methods help the researcher in collecting the
required data for the research in a proper manner to make the research successful. It is mainly
defined as the processes involved in the entire procedure of data collection for completing the
current research study in a successful note. Research methodology includes several methods in
the data collection procedure, which are, Research paradigm, Research approach, Research
purpose, Sample selection, Data analysis plan and lastly it will discuss the Ethical considerations
for the current research.
Research paradigm
There are primarily three types of research pattern, Interpretive, Positivism, and Realism.
However, for the current study, the research has selected the Positivism research paradigm. It
will help the researcher to have a view on the entire topic of the research, and it is referred to as
the shared understanding regarding reality. It will assist the researcher in exploring the Hadhil
speaking dialect and the areas the language is spoken and its relation with Arabic. The research
paradigm even helps the researcher in finding out the issues associated with the current topic of
research regarding the translation of the Hadhil dialect. It also enables the researcher in
identifying the variables for the particular case of study. The research paradigm helps the
researcher in gaining research experience along with scope for evaluation of the information. The
researcher will be able to collect the information productively. On the other hand, it is also
important to mention that the research paradigm is generally referred to as the philosophy
undertaken for the research. Hence, the researcher has selected the philosophy of positivism, as it
will help the researcher in analyzing the data in a positive manner.
Research approach
There are mostly two types of investigate approaches that the researchers use for the purpose of
completing particular research successfully. The two types of research approaches are Deductive
and Inductive research approaches. For this particular research, the researcher has selected the
Deductive research approach. The deductive approach helps the researcher in developing a

Deductive research approach. The deductive approach helps the researcher in developing a

hypothesis based on the theory used for the current study and along with that a research strategy
is said to be designed for the purpose of examining the hypothesis that was designed. A
deductive approach to research is mainly defined as the reasoning of the topic of the research
from a general point of view. It also enables the researcher to develop new imaginative thoughts
and theories based on the deductive approach of the research. It will help the researcher in
identifying the need for the interpreters between Standard Arabic and the Hadhil dialect (Lewis,
2015).
Research purpose
The researchers generally use three main types of study purposes, which are, Explanatory,
Exploratory and Descriptive. The researcher has chosen the Descriptive research purpose for
the current study as it helps in shedding light on the current issues regarding the research topic
through the process in which the researcher is collecting the relevant information (Flick, 2015).
This is done to identify the issues concerning the translation of the Hadhil dialect and the
relationship between the Hadhil dialect and Standard Arabic. The Descriptive purpose makes it
easier for the researcher to explain the current issues associated with the topic of the current
study.
Sample selection
Sample selection is defined as the procedure involved in selecting the respondents and the
participants for the current study of research. The sample size is said to be the number of
participants or respondents selected for the current research and sample population is defined as
the total number of people involved in the research procedure, including the researcher and the
respondents. The participants selected for the current study is around 100 native speakers of
Hadhil language, the respondents need to be of 25 years or above. The researcher will divide the
25 participants into two major groups, X and Y. In the group X, the speakers need to be
bilingual, that is they are required to know Hadhil language and some other language also. On
the other hand, the Y group will contain the respondents who are monolingual and are only able
to speak Hadhil, and they need to have profound knowledge on the language so that it becomes
easier for the researcher to collect authentic data for the research.
Data analysis plan
For the current case of study, the researcher has selected both Qualitative and Quantitative
research methods. The researcher has selected the quantitative method to explore the knowledge
hypothesis based on the theory used for the current study and along with that a research strategy
is said to be designed for the purpose of examining the hypothesis that was designed. A
deductive approach to research is mainly defined as the reasoning of the topic of the research

among the respondents regarding the Hadhil language. On the other hand, the qualitative method
will be used by the researcher for collecting feedback from the respondents selected for the
research.
Data collection tools
For the data collection procedure, the researcher has selected both the methods of survey and
interview. Through survey and interviews, the researcher will be able to gather proper and
authentic data from the respondents and will be able to complete the research successfully. This
will help the researcher in resolving the issues concerned with the current research topic.
Ethical consideration
The researcher is required to maintain some ethics in the process of collecting data for the study
(Mackeyand Gass, 2015). The researcher is required to behave politely with the respondents, and
they cannot ask any personal questions to the respondents that would hurt them or offend them,
and they need to protect the data gathered for the study under the Data Protection Act (1998).
Again, before commencing of the work, the researcher is required to get consent from the
respondents.
Conclusion
The methodology section mainly discusses regarding the methods that are required to be used for
the current research and provides the researcher with a detailed thoughtful regarding the methods
that are concerned with the current research procedure. The chapter was explained properly and
