LITERATURE REVIEW
It is the second chapter in the research which is used by the researcher to answer their research
question in sound manner. This section holds past publish information about the topic and the
data is collected from various secondary sources such as books, journal, online site and many
more.
Explain the concept and need of Halal food labelling within Samyang, a Korean Ramen brand?
As per the view of Alzeer, Rieder and Abou Hadeed (2018), Halal food labelling
generally states that particular food or the products are permissible or allowable for the people of
Islam and the procedure will be used no haram while processing and manufacturing food
products. The concept of Halal food labelling in the Samyang which is regarded as a Korean
Ramen brand simply means that food products are permitted in the Islamic law which generally
states that it will not contain any type of thing which is unlawful in the statement of the law.
Label is defined as an identification which makes the product visible in the market and makes
people recognize by the power of the brand that need attention. Halal food labelling is considered
as a safety for Muslims people so that they can also consume the product which helps in
managing and eliminating the negative image of the Muslim products so that they can preserve
and eat freely. The awareness of Muslims is generally marked by the knowledge of the process
of food packaging, slaughtering, and food hygiene on the basis of the Islamic law. Halal food
labelling products awareness has a significant impact on the purchasing interest and capability of
the consumer for a particular choice of food product. Ingredients related to the food are the main
elements that helps in increasing the interest of how the consumers will portray the image of the
product in the minds of Muslim. The buying behaviour is mainly depended on the choice and
taste of consumers in buying things by taking into consideration all the food ingredients and
items as the top priority (Purwanto and et. al., 2020). The number of food items that are
restricted from the Islamic law are mostly less in number as with the technology advancement
the processing and manufacturing products has gained importance as it helps in producing high
quality tasty food for buying new products by the Muslim people.

What is the impact of Halal food labelling on international sale of Samyang, a Korean Ramen
brand?
As per the view of Wahyuni, Vanany and Ciptomulyono (2019), food labelling is
considered as an important tool of communication for the varied manufactures and retailers of
food because it helps in delivering important information for customers and also assists and
guides them in taking purchase decisions. For the most of the Muslim customers, the label of
Halal food is mandatory as it helps in ensuring them that they are purchasing the good quality
meat products and are approved from the Islamic law. The Halal food labelling impacts the
international sale of products of Samyang positively and which is defined below:
Increase in the sale of food products – When the food is packaged by the Halal food
labelling, it helps in increasing the sale of meat products in international markets also.
Halal food labelling on the products helps in building a sense of trust in the minds of
customers that they are purchasing and eating quality products.
Positive image in the customer mind – The Halal food labelling has a positive image in
the mind of customers which indirectly impacts the performance of the sale of products
in the international market (Chandra, Liaqat and Sharma, 2019). This helps in curing the
image of the customers as they are getting reliable and good quality food which helps in
increasing the trust regarding food products.
Food safety and reliability – Halal food labelling helps in giving a food safety and
reliability which makes sure that food quality is good quality and is ready to eat (Muflih
and Juliana, 2020). This helps the Muslim people in gaining good quality food
ingredients in the packaged food and gives a sense of satisfaction among the variability
of the customers. This helps in increasing the motivation among the food that they are
eating good food in the international market as they are supplying better products to the
customers.
What are the challenges and issues that would be faced by Samyang, a Korean Ramen brand in
Halal implementation?
As per the view of (Aniqoh and Hanastiana, 2020), there are many challenges and issues
related to Halal implementation. It includes awareness, authority, market competitiveness, supply
chain management and cost. The halal certification implementation is one of the major task
which is needed to be followed by hospitality and different hotels. The lack of awareness is the

biggest issue which is concerned related with food accommodation within hotelier. Halal
implementation is the new phenomena in which quality assurance is needed to be taken and in
this manner healthy choice is considered by the people. This aspect is related with safety,
hygiene and quality assurance so that selection food can be given to customers and in appropriate
manner and in this manner effective food management process can be executed. These challenges
are explained below in a detailed manner:
Authority: There are many issues in the procedure of Halal Certificate applications which are
created by business owners and the authority such as Halal Development Corporation. From the
side of applicant, not having appropriate understanding of the Halal process is one of the issues
that generally arise. But sometimes due to ignorance of business owners even though data on the
Halal procedure is available (Purwanto, Ardiyanto and Sudargini, 2021). If the business owners
are committed in applying Halal certification, they sometimes delay in submitting supporting
documents required for the proposed application.
Cost: The other challenge faced by food business operators in the Halal implementation is the
cost incurred with the motive of ensuring overall implemetation (Ahmad and et. al., 2018). The
consistent rise in operating and manufacturing cost has become of the challenges why there are
companies who are coming forward to apply for the certification of Halal. Thus, companies who
have limited financial resources think twice or thrice for pursuing Halal certification.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Research methodology is the third chapter in the overall dissertation which helps in
identifying, analysing and interpreting the data as per the topic. This section helps the
investigator to attain the aim and objective inn valuable manner. In this section data is being
analysed and gathered as per various philosophies, approaches, choices and many more.
Research methodology also helps the researcher to gain answer for their two question which are
how data will be collected and how it will be analysed (Shields, 2019). The reader also evaluates
the validity and reliability of the information so that they can complete rely on the investigation
in sound manner. Research methodology is further divided into sub components which are
discussed below with the help of Saunders research onion framework.
Research philosophy: Research philosophy is the set of belief which tells about the
phenomenon to gather, analyses and used data. It is divided into two forms that are positivism
and interpretivism. Positivism philosophy is based on objective data and interpretivism is based
on subjective information. In the current investigation, investigator will use positivism
philosophy. The reason for choosing this is it will gather and analyse quantitative information.
Using this philosophy helps in knowing the current trend and pattern.
Research approach: Research approach can be defined as the planned process to test the
hypothesis and theories. It is used by the researcher so that they can achieve aim with the
evaluation of theories. They are classifies into two parts which are deductive and inductive
approach. Deductive approach evaluates theories with the help of quantitative information and
inductive approach measures hypothesise on the basis of qualitative data. In the present
investigation, researcher will be choosing deductive approach (Thomas, 2021). The benefit of
using this is evaluation of existing theories will be made rather than developing new hypothesis.
This also provides the relationship between the two variables with one another.
Research strategy: It is step by step taking the investigator in order to provide path to the
thoughts and idea of the researcher. There are various ways through which data can be collected
some of them are survey, systematic literature review, case study, action researcher. As per the
current investigation researcher will be selecting survey research strategy. The advantage to use
this strategy is large amount of information can be gather in single time. As well as it is one of
the cost effective approach to obtained data from mass population.
Document Page
Research choice: quantitative and qualitative are the two research choice. Quantitative is
the process of collecting and analysing numerical information. On the other hand, qualitative
research is the procedure of gathering and evaluating non numerical information. In the current
research, investigator will be choosing quantitative method (Iovino and Tsitsianis, 2020). The
main reason for this it will gather data in numbers and figures. Analysing information in
numerical is much easier than any other way. As well this data can be obtained easily without
any difficulty. Quantitative research methodology also helps in attaining aim and objective in
valuable manner.
Time horizon: It is the time framework which is used to know the investing time for
collecting data. Cross sectional and longitudinal are the two time horizons. Cross sectional
gathers data in shorter time whereas longitudinal collects information for longer time duration.
As per the current investigation, cross sectional time horizon will be using by researcher. The
benefits are that data will be gather as per the scenario and will covers shorter duration data. It
will also observe multiple variables as well in short span of time
Data collection: Data collection is the process of collecting and measuring information.
There are two data collection method that are primary and secondary. Primary data collection is
the process of gathering fresh information. Secondary data collection is the method of collecting
second hand information. In the current investigation, researcher will be using both primary and
secondary data to carry out information (Sileyew, 2019). Primary data is used in data analysis
part and secondary data will be used literature review. The research instrument used for
collecting primary data is questionnaire and secondary data will be books, online site, books etc.
Sampling: It is the technique to select sample from large population. There are two
sampling method which is probability sampling and non probability sampling. Probability
sampling select the sample by providing equal opportunity to the participant to get selected and
non probability sampling respondent are chosen in non bias manner (Daniel, 2018). In the
current investigation probability sampling will be used by the researcher. Further in that random
sampling method is used to select sample. The sample size will be 10 employee of Samyang, a
Korean Ramen brand.
Ethical consideration: It is the collection of values and belief which is followed by
researcher while gathering data from society. Some of the values which need to obey are
honesty, openness, transparency, consent form and many other (Knottnerus and Tugwell, 2018).
