Humanities: Eudaimonia
Eudaimonia can be described as a happy spirit (Dean 508). It is life satisfaction in simple
terms. It comprised the key element of Classical Greek ethics. Eudaimonia offered guidance in
the household, expanded art as well as governed the political system. It initiated the beginning
of the Golden Age in Athens, Greece. It promoted cooperation within families which enforced
wellbeing as well as good spirits (Dean 508). It is this expression of ethics that improved future
relations with political powers. It was the idea of eudaimonia that supported the Athenian
through of democracy. They promoted equality for all citizens through social expression that led
to the expansion of fine arts. The concept of Eudaimonia played a big role in the development of
arts which entailed sculptures, music, and drama during the Golden Age. It must be noted that
most of the great works of Plato and Homer were developed during this age. To implement such
an idea in modern society people should start to respect each other. This will create social
rapports and improve our relationship. Furthermore, we should support unity and correlation in
our households since they promote self-sufficiency. The government, on the other hand, should
support as well as promote social wellbeing of its citizens.
