Events are the planned social or public occasions. In tourism, events are the key
motivator and figure importantly in the growth and marketing plans of most destinations (Zoran
& Sasko 2013, p.80). This paper will discuss the festivals associated with professional music.
This event would cover all the famous music stars in the world who would perform in an open-
air stage. It would also include other attractions like dance, crafts and performance art. Music
festivals are among the events which attract people from different parts because many wish to
come and see their favorite artist perform live and get to interact with them. In this case,
targeting famous world music stars would attract many people from different countries hence
increasing destination competitiveness.
This event has several attractions which make many people attend the festival. Many
guests tend to follow artists but not the actual events (Karlsen 2018, p.90). This means, when
advertising this music festivals, putting those famous musicians in the headline of the adverts
would help attract even those hardcore guest. Using famous musicians in the headline of your
band would help attract more people in the event than when advertising the event alone.
Another thing which made the event attractive is the freedom to come with a friend even
if they have not purchased the ticket. If one person had purchased the ticket and his or her
partner did not, they were allowed to come to the festival. People say that having more than one
friend attending the festivals would encourage them to purchase the tickets (Aaron 2012, p.95). It
would also make their stay at the event more enjoyable and be forced to stay long hours hence
increasing the event competitiveness. When a person attends an event without his or her close
friends it reaches a time when he or she finds it boring and decides to leave the venue. People

leaving the event before time means that the event does not meet their expectations and this is
one major cause of its failures.
Creating of VIP services was also another source of attractiveness to the event. Most
people say that having VIP services like lounges, bathrooms, free drinks and sitting in front seats
was essential to them (Colleen & Mark 2010, p.100) Most people feel they are more superior and
they don’t like sharing same platforms with the ordinary people. Therefore, creating these
services for them would attract them because they are willing to pay more for this. To increase
the competitiveness of the event, one should not assume these people instead should create these
services for them.
Also, the hours set for this festival made it attract many people because they would
enable them to realize the value for their money. This event would take two days and therefore it
would attract many people to Purchase tickets because no one would like spending money on the
event which does not entertain them fully (Jasmina & Nikola 2014, p.60). People would be
interested to attend the festival because the time set would be enough to socialize with their
favorite musicians and also help those aspiring to be like them gain skills. Also, many people
like socializing and extending the event days would enable them to socialize and make friends
from different regions.
This music festival falls under the form of the cultural event because culture is an entity
that characterizes people and society (Karlsen 2018, p.78). It also shows people about their
values, traditions and modern perspectives. The basis of cultural events is people’s interest to
discover what is new and to study. In this case, this music festival would provide all these basis
of learning and experiencing new things. This event would be held in Sydney city because it
