Introduction
Behind every crime, some possible reasons/forces are there. It has been noted that racism plays it
is a vital role in the crime society. The social ill selected to discuss in this report is "Hate Crime."
Hate crime can be understood as a crime, which is motivated by sexual, racial or other prejudice
and involves violence (Ferro, 2017). Although racism is not the only factor in a hate crime, yet
the focus of the report will be the same. In the presented report, followings will be discussed:-
Why the issue is a problem
Impact of the issue
Solution to fix the problem
Why hate crime is a problem?
Every year thousands of people brutally attacked due to a hate crime. Such crime
incidents not only affect the victims but also put the negative impact on the thoughts of others.
Anyone can become the victim of racist hate incidents. For instance, a person can commit a
crime against you if you belong to a particular race or region. The scope of hate crime is much
extended as it includes all kind of incidents that involve violence and are motivated by racism.
Obviously, a hate crime, which is motivated by racism, is an issue for society. It limits the right
of free-living of citizens. In many of the countries, racism is an issue, which further enhances the
issue of hate crime. Racial groups are the main target under a hate crime when it comes to the
perspective of race. These groups are a group of people who are explained by reference of their

colour, race, and national origin (Yourdictionary.com, 2018). People from racial groups have to
face incidents such as physical abuse, bullying, online abuse, damage to property and threatening
behavior. These incidents do count in hate crimes when the same becomes a criminal offense.
After reviewing the incidents of hate crime motivated by racism, it is seen that the same is a
serious social problem. It is an issue that consists hate of a criminal at a great level.
A person can be the victim of racist hate incident in his/her home, near home, or in
school. Many times other students use violence in against of racism group. The issue becomes
more serious when the protectors of the law, i.e. police stars doing such crimes. Many of the
incidents have reported where police used the power against innocent people just because of the
race of a person and breached the State's Hate Crime Law. It would be wrongful to state that only
people with black skin color are the victim of such crime but in many of the countries, situations
are reversed. Therefore, whoever can be the victim but has to face dangerous impact, as these
victims are mostly innocent and have to face the consequences just because of their race.
Impact of the issue
The hate crime led many of the damages in the past and is expected to lead the same in
the future if to talk about data, this is to mention that according to the data presented by Bureau
of Justice Statistics in the year 2010, the black incarceration rate was 3,161 per 100,000. Further,
according to a study of Pew Research Center, in the year 2010, black men were 6 times more
likely to be incarcerated in comparison to white men in America (Drake, 2013). The statistic
shows that how serious the subjective issue is. According to the FBI, in the year 2016, the race
was continued to be a most important and common category of hate crimes comprising 57

percent of total hate crimes in the US (Levin, Nolan & Reitzel, 2018). Recently, in Chicago, a
policeman killed a black man who was suspected of carrying a gun (Bbc.com, 2018). The
incident was one of the examples of racist hate crimes. This is not the first incident itself. Before
this too, different people of different nations faced such issues either by the side of police or
private parties. One of the Minnesota students viciously had beaten his black teacher. However
the same was walked free cause of some privilege (Newsone.com, 2018). Apart from the past,
the future also seems to be in danger. There are possibilities of the happening of such more
incidents related to racist hate crimes in the future as the steps were taken by the authorities are
not enough to prevent the issue. Further because of migration of people from one nation to
another, the danger of racist hate crime seems to be increased.
Solution to prevent the issue
The issue is not permanent and can be prevented by using some of the tactics. To stop the
issue of racism hates crime, there must be proper law and legislation in every nation. Apart from
the legislation, the other aspect which is really needed to identify here is criminological theories
behind the hate crime. Behind every crime, certain theories are there. In a similar manner social
control and strain theories act behind the mind of the racist hate criminals (Walters, 2011). To
resolve this issue from it is roots, it is necessary that the development of children must be in a
healthy and positive environment, as they do in future what they do learn in presence. To spread
the fear in others and to control the issue, government and respective government has to take a
charge. They are required to take a harsh decision in against of such criminal so the same can
bring a lesson for others. People must be aware of their rights so that they can report any related
incident if happened ever.

Conclusion
To conclude the topic discussed here, this is to mention that hate crime is an issue in
every perspective but the same is more dangerous in relation to race. The issue is crucial as many
of the incidents reporting there on the daily basis and the issue can be prevented by using the
methods as mentioned above.
