Communication
Introduction- Communication is the way of sharing and exchanging information from
one person to another. It is essential for individuals to share effective and complete
message to the receiver (Dessouky and et. al., 2018). There are various challenges for
effective communication and these challenges can be mitigated by few of the effective
strategies. Hay travel is a well known travelling agency in UK which is founded in the
year 1980 by John Hays. The company is headquartered in Sunderland, England, UK.
The following leaflet is covers challenges of effective communication and strategies to
mitigate these challenges.
In context of Hays travels, they are required to maintain that condition of their flights
and follow all legal laws and regulations which are required at the time of COVID pandemic.
They are also suggested to convey the clean and effective condition of their flight to their
customers properly.
To overcome with emotional barrier of the company, they will try to influence
customers to travel by attracting them toward the destinations which they offer. It is essential
for Hay travel to analyse the needs and wants of their customers and the emotional factors
which can impact upon their purchasing process for the travel and tourism industry. Hence,
they must try to promote only those destinations to customers which can regenerate their
habits to travel again.
On the other hand, the barrier of culture can be mitigated by collecting information
about the customers that where they want to travel and then research about the government
laws and regulations of the country which is targeted by their customers. Providing
appropriate information about government regulations and quarantine rules of a country to
their customer is beneficial for the company (Wamsler and et. al., 2020).
Effective strategies to overcome communication barriers
Physical barrier- COVID pandemic is ongoing global pandemic which
impacts the world in negative way. In context of Hays travels, their customers are
worried about the condition within the flights and hotels provided by the company to
them. They are worried whether the flights are following social distancing or not.
Emotional barrier- It is another communication barrier which impacts the
easy flow of communication between Hays travels and their customers. Here,
customers of the companies are out of the habit for travelling and they are now feeling
anxious to travel from one destination to another.
Culture barrier- Customers are also unaware about the government policies
and regulations which can change on timely basis for the country where they wish to
travel (Ramlan and et. al., 2018). Customers of the company have no idea that for how
many days they need to quarantine if required.
Conclusion- From the above information it is concluded that communication is the way of
sharing and exchanging information from person to person. Companies like travel agencies
are required to pay appropriate attention to the communication barriers which can impact
their success and growth. Hence, communication barriers like physical barrier, emotional
barrier and many other barriers can be mitigated by effective communication strategies.
