Executive summary
The aim of this report is to discuss about computer user interface and several features regarding
the websites. The main attraction of the websites is its appearance and the accessibility. The
customers should be asked for several feedbacks from the organisation and there should be
several options to interact with the users. The outline of the websites of Amazon and JB hifi are
drawn in order to understand the features related to the organisations interface. It is
recommended to create a user friendly and secured computer user interface for the customers.

Introduction
A website is consisted with several features which help to act like the interface between
the user and the organisation. Website is also the gateway for the transaction of several
information and money. A website must look professional and should have several important
features like navigation, attractive homepage and proper user friendly environment (Baecker
2014). The websites should follow the HCI design principles in order to maintain a continuous
and faster response to the users.
In this report the main outline of the discussion is drawn on the basis of the two websites
www.jbhifi.com.au and www.amazon.com. All the features of the websites are discussed in
order to understand the background of the websites (Hsu 2015). All the features related to the
accessibility, navigation, homepage pre-test are discussed in details. The websites are also
compared with the standard HCI design principles.
Overview and description of the nominated websites
In this report the two nominated websites are www.jbhifi.com.au and www.amazon.com.
Both of these websites deal with online business and also responsible for online transactions of
money and public information.

famous and fastest growing websites in this market (Helander 2014). It collects almost $4 billion

Amazon is also a global online retailer which is considered as the biggest online business
in the world. Amazon was initially based on United States and now it does business all over the

and also various kinds of dresses. It has a very user-friendly interface in the website and also
provides faster and reliable response to the customers. In the following figure the hompage of the

Identification and elaboration of the main features of the websites
It is important to make the websites in such a manner so that the websites provide a good
first impression to the customers. It is a very popular concept that first impression is the last
impression. In the figure 1 and in the figure 2 both the outlines of the homepages of the two
famous online retailing organisations are given (Polson and Richardson 2013). It looks clearly
very attractive in the first few looks and the user gets a clear idea about the products and offers
given by the retailer. It is important to create the website in such a way so that the users like it

and it is very important to connect with the user’s emotion (Rautaray and Agrawal 2015). The
accessibility of the website is also an important factor which should be very fluent and it also
helps the people to get the response of the website in a faster way. After creating the first layer
for the websites it is very important to make a proper navigation system for the websites so that
the users get proper idea about the places and the website can provides actual images of the maps
of any location (Walsh, Steckel and Daems 2015). In case of online retailers it is also very
important to create the navigations as to deliver the products to the customers. There should be
several buttons or options which clearly lead the customers to make the proper identification of
the locations. The website should be designed in such a way so that the customers can easily
scroll the up or down and zoom in or out the page to get the actual idea about the any image
related to navigation pr products. The homepage pre-test is also an important factor in case of
understanding the features of the websites. In the homepage pre-test the first thing is to do about
the identification test. In the identification test the main concepts about the organisation’s name
and the products features are to be understood from the organisation’s website.
Compare and contrast the two websites against the HCI design principles
There are 6 factors in the HCI design principles and the principles and those are visibility,
consistency, feedback, affordance, mapping and constraint. Based on these 6 factors Amazon and
JB hi fi are compared. In most of the cases Amazon is superior to JB hi fi (Yu and Kong 2016).
Although the visibility is looked well in case of JB hi fi, the other features are better settled in
case of Amazon. The constraints are also an important factor in case of Amazon.

Recommendations
For the betterment of the webpage interface designing it is important to follow the
recommendations which can be utilised to get a better human computer interface.
The visibility and the first appearance are good enough in both the online
WebPages. But it is seen that there are lots of unwanted advertisements which are
sometime irritating to the users (Walsh, Steckel and Daems 2015). The unwanted
ads must not be appeared at the websites.
The security is an important factor in case of the website designing. In case of
online retailing websites a huge number of public data is collected. It should be
kept confidential and the users account must be maintained with better privacy
options.
There are few feedback options in the websites (Patterson and Hennessy, 2017).
The number of the feedback options should be increased so that the view of the
public can be understood about the organizational functionality and services.
Conclusion
From the above discussion it is concluded that the human computer interface is an
important feature regarding the online services. The websites should be designed in a well
structured way with better visibility and accessibility. The security of the websites should be
taken care of for public reliability. Well designed Human computer interface can make the online
business and service more advanced.
