Following are different resources that are available for self learning and study:
Text books:
The text books are generally designed in accordance to the curriculum or syllabus
recommended by some education institute, board, college or university. In other words, the
text books are an important knowledge source for learners and students in different colleges,
schools and universities. Main purpose of designing text books is to facilitate critical learning
among students through reading skills and critical thinking skills about any topic (Ritter et al.,
2018). The text books also help students to achieve learning effectiveness and motivation.
Apart from these, the text book is a major source of self learning and study through
facilitation of generic skills, learning strategies, values and attitudes among students.
Reference Books and Other Printed Materials:
The tutors and module leaders in different colleges and universities encourages the students
to take into account wide range of learning resources including reference books for greater
level of knowledge and learning. In general, the reference books are not designed according
to syllabus or curriculum of a particular college or universities (Prytherch, 2016). But these
reference books contain different topics and content that is highly relevant to some of the
concepts that are parts of curriculum of the colleges and universities. Example of some
authentic resources of self learning that are recommended by colleges and universities
includes posters, songs, magazines, pamphlets and leaflets.
Multimedia Resources:
Example of multimedia resources of self learning includes online learning platforms,
computer software packages, audio visual presentations, video tutorials and other web based
online learning materials. Multimedia resources of learning are considered as more effective
in terms of enhancing knowledge and learning of students. It is so because they carry out

Evaluation of Three Note Taking Techniques:
Linear: Linear note taking technique can be defined as the technique, in which a person
records the information or data in same order, in which it was received. Under linear note
taking, there is proper order and sequence of note taking or preparing any document. Linear
note taking in easiest technique of note taking, as all the facts and data are required on simple
paper or in computers according to sequence of happening of the events (Royal, 2013). This
technique is simple as compared to other note taking techniques such as mind mapping and
graphical organizer, as the nota taker does not need to identify any specific cause effect
analysis.
Mind Mapping: Under mind mapping technique, the mind maps are prepared for presenting
different types of interactions or flows of information/ resources for a system. For creation of
learning resources for myself learning such as text books, reference materials, online

mind map, the central idea or system is putted in centre. Branches for supporting this idea are
linked to this central idea. Mind mapping technique is a superior method as compared to
linear note taking. It is so because this technique presents the information and data in visual
format that is easier for potential audience or users of the data/ facts (Royal, 2013). Mind
mapping technique can save time of potential users of information, as it is easy for the
readers to understand different factors or sub-elements that are responsible behind occurrence
of a particular event. But it is a complicated task to draw mind maps, as these can be drawn
through use of some software.
Graphical Organizer: In this technique, the notes are written or taken in graphical format.
These graphs may include lines, boxes, or any shapes. It is easier to draw graphs as compared
to drawing the mind maps (McKnight, 2010). The graphs developed through graph organizer
technique is more effective as compared to linear note taking technique but less effective as
compared to mind mapping technique to communicate any information.
Task 2 Impact of Life style choices on Individual health
Summary of Journal Article:
As per the analysis of journal article produced by Farhud (2015), the life style of a person
significantly affects the health of person. In general, the life style can be defined as way that

person. Medication is a part of life for everyone (Farhud, 2015). There are many people that

for every health issue. As per the findings of this article, 10 percent of such people (those
who believe in self medication) face health complications like drug allergy, drug resistance.
This kind of issue sometimes can result into even death of the person.
