INTRODUCTION
Innovation is necessary in today’s world and especially in enterprise. Innovation is required
for the long term survival of the enterprise. This report will discuss skills of HE learner and also
identify that how HE skills can be developed.
MAIN BODY
Identifying skills of higher education students.
Using Gibbs reflection model skills of HE students will be identified.
Gibbs reflection model:
Gibbs model is used for analysing reflection. It has five steps which are as follows:
Description:
To be the higher education learner, it requires certain skills which are as follows:
Communication skills: it is the important skills which is required everywhere and for higher
education learner it plays vital role. Through communication skills which include writing and
oral both, help in influencing other person. Effective communication skills are helpful in
achieving goals.
Problem solving skills: it is another vital skill. With the help of this skill higher education learner
can solve every problem which will come in their way.
Team working skills: this skill will guide us how to work in a team (Khan and et.al., 2017).
When work is done in a team then more effective and efficient work is done.
Presentation skills: presentation skills help in presenting the topic In front of audience. This skill
is also helpful in reducing audience fear.
Decision making skills: it is the most important skills. If this skill is poses by learner, then it will
help them in achieving higher growth. Effective decisions taken the learner protect them from
uncertainty.
Academic writing skills: by developing this skill, person learns to write in the professional
manner. It is helpful in university courses and also helpful in the career.
Feelings:
I feel that skills are very important for higher education learner. Through communication
skills higher education learner can communicate with other learners, with their teachers, clients
etc. if they have effective communication skills then they can convince other people easily.

Academic writing skills is also one of the main skills if talk about HE learner. In the higher
education projects have to be made and for that academic writing should be good because high
grade can be achieved through good academic writing only. Presentation skills are needed to HE
learner because they have to give presentation in class on the topic which is given them by their
tutor. in the future also this skill will help them because in the organisation they have to give
presentation on many topics.
Problem solving skills is important in the life and career of HE learner (Markkanen and
et.al., 2020). In their career they will feel and have to cross many problems. If they have problem
solving skills, then problem will be no more hurdle for them and they can face any difficult
problems because of the problem solving skills they have. Decision making skills which is
considered on of the vital skill. Effective decisions taken by the HE learner will contribute in
their growth whereas wrong decisions will take them in the wrong direction. So decisions
making skills will be helpful in taking effective decisions.
Evaluation:
I believe that I have communication skills which an HE learner should have. As I am able
to communicate effectively and through effective communication skills I am able to convince
other easily. I have written as well as oral communication skills (Gibbs' Reflective Cycle., 2021).
I think that communication skills in my strength. I found that I don’t have presentation skills.
Just because of absence of this skills I am not able to speak in front of public. I always fear of
speaking or addressing audience. My confidence is also shaken because I do not have
presentation skill. Another skill which I don’t have is the problem solving skill. This skill is
required so that tough or easy whatever problems are coming can be solved it effective.
As I don’t have this skill then I am not able to solve problem effectively. Problem is
creating hurdles in my growth. Decision making skills which an HE learner should have, I also
have this skill. With the help of decision making skill I am able to take effective decisions. if
decisions are taken wisely then goals can be accomplished in less time. IT skills which are
important in nowadays. With the help of this skills I can able to adopt advanced technology
easily. I does not have IT skill but I want to build this so that it will enhance my career.
Conclusion:
HE skills which I have built are the problem solving skills, presentation skills and
academic writing skills. I realised that problem solving skill is very important and I should have

this skill. I learnt from the course and build this skill into myself (Adeani and et.al., 2021). By
going through the course I have realised that I don’t have presentation skills and I also
understood the importance of presentation skill. I realised that how this skill can be helpful in
reducing audience fear. I developed academic writing skill which I will use in writing academic
report.
Action:
Earlier when I don’t have presentation skills and many other skills my performance was
not good at the time of giving presentation. After I had learnt from the course about the skill and
then I build the skill.

skills. Report has also accessed my own skills against HE learner. Report has also evaluated
skills which I had built and also given PDP at the end of report.
