This essay critically analyzes the role and power of the Australian media in influencing healthcare within a multicultural Australian society. It examines the social, political, cultural, and economic factors that shape health-related broadcasts, supported by a critical analysis of two media articles—one positive and one negative—to demonstrate media's potential impact on cultural safety. The essay discusses how media serves as a conduit for government health policies, influences public attitudes, and highlights the importance of accurate and culturally sensitive health reporting. It also explores the potential for both positive and negative impacts on public health awareness and behavior, emphasizing the need for credible, evidence-based information and responsible journalism. The analysis incorporates relevant academic literature published between 2007 and 2017, aligning with concepts from HEA230.
