INTRODUCTION
Health promotion is process of creating awareness in the community about the health and
well-being. It comes under behavioural social science that assist in promotion of health so that
people can prevent themselves from diseases, disabilities, premature death etc. For this, various
health care organizations are now taking initiative in this direction by using various modes and
channels. The aim of health promotion is improving quality of life of people by creating awareness
related to diseases and their consequences on health (Goodson,2010). The present research is based
on health promotion and to understand its importance, some case studies will take into the
consideration. The objectives cover under the current study will impact of socio-economic on
health, models of health promotion, factors affecting health promotion and plan of health promotion
campaigning.
TASK 1
1. Impacts of socio-economic situations on health
As per the given case scenario, it has clearly understand that a health promotion plan has
needed to be developed. There are many socio-economic factors that affect on health of the
community. These elements are as follows:
Unemployment: When a person is remain unemployed for the long time, it makes impact of
his health (Mackay and et.al., 2012). Health issues that may be faced by him either physical or
mental such as increase weight , depressive symptoms, increased consumption of alcohol, mental
disorders etc. Because of long term unemployment, he not able to avail health facilities in the
situation of illness.
Discrimination: Evidence shows that the radical discrimination with the persona has
affected his health (Nordgren, 2011). Increase rejections in terms of any kind of negligence has
increased health problems such as anxiety, sadness, emptiness, depression etc.
Selection of lifestyle: Adoption of life style by a person has also came under socio-economic
factor that affect his health. Selection of diet, relaxation techniques, healthy sleep etc impact on
health of individual either in positive or negative.
2. Significance of government resources of information in assessment of health inequalities
There are various source of information available by which health inequalities information
can be assess. Significance of these government resources of information are as follows:
Black Report DHSS 1980: It has published in 1980 by Health and Society Security department of
UK government (Satterlund, Travis and et al., 2011). The following resource helps in get details

about level of distribution of illness and death among population of Britain. Along with this, it can
be easily determine those factors which are responsible for health inequalities such as education,
income, diet, working conditions etc.
Acheson Report 'Independent Inquiry in Inequalities in Health' 1998: The following report
delivers the information about independent inquiry in inequalities in health (VanVactor, 2012). With
the help of this, users can clearly understand about health disparities and their relationship with
social class. Evidence of this report shows that downward trend in health inequalities in upper social
class.
Health Survey for England (HSFE): HSFE report allows users to understand health behaviour of
the people who are living in England from long time ago (Anderson and McFarlane, 2010).
Significance of this resource of information is it help in formulation of new health services and
policies.
3. Reasons for barriers to accessing healthcare facilities
At the time of getting the services of health care organization, services users have faced
several barriers. In this context, first is physical barriers where some of the people have not able to
avail health facilities because of any kind of physical disabilities. Due to this, they have not able to
move from one place to another. On the other hand, psychological barrier is one of them that hinder
service users to get medical facilities (Slyne, Phillips and Parkes, 2012). For example, some of
people have phobia regarding injection and because of this, they do not want to visit hospital at any
cost. Further, financial barrier is another where many of the families not afford medical services
because they have not financially strong. So, these are some barriers that prohibit service users to
access healthcare facilities.
TASK 2
1. Explain health promotion models
The Western Scientific Model of health: It defines health with the negative connotation in
the aspect to absence of illness or diseases. According to this, model, majority of log term of
diseases raise from social dimensions (Stretch, 2012). With the help of this, it can be easily analyse
how health is assumed by be most important for human being. Along with this, it assist in to know
what are the reasons of illness of people. It defines that mind and body, both are separate entities
and help the person to understand its working.
Holistic model of Health: The following model of health promotion shows state of well-
being of person. On the basis of three stage: psychological, physical and social, a complete well-
being state of human being can be define d in effective manner.

2. Government health strategies for health education at the regional level and analysis of the link
between government strategies and model analysed
At regional level, UK government follow health strategies for health education. For
example, to create awareness in the community about HIV, they have adopted different tactics such
as health promotion, campaigning, poster, conference etc conduct. By doing this, it can be easy to
deliver health education to the society (Syson and Bond, 2010).
With the help of above stated health promotional model, government strategies can be linked
in effective manner. It assist in to promote health and well-being in the community in more
appropriate manner.
3. Role of health professionals in health promotion and importance of establishing routines for
healthy living
Health professionals of health care organizations play an important role in promoting health
in the community. For example, UK government wants to reduce the rate of smoking death by 10%
on year basis (VanVactor, 2013). For this, it starts Anti-smoking campaigning in the nation. In this
context, health professionals explain the importance of well-being and absence of illness in the life
to the services users. Along with this, they also influence patients to left smoking habits by
explaining its consequences on health.
On the other hand, with the help of adopting good routines for healthy living, a schedule of
day to day activities can be arranged and managed. With the help of this, some good healthy living
habits can be developed. It leads to the raise the efficiency of the body and stay healthy for the long
time. For example, by consuming fresh, healthy and complete nutritional food, it can be easy to live
a good and healthy life.
TASK 3
1. Concept of health belief and examine different health beliefs present in UK community
Health belief is a concept of the psychological health behaviour change. It explain and
predict health related behaviour of the services users on the basis of available health services. In this
regards, the first health belief of UK community is health as functional capacity. Under this, they
think that health as the absence of diseases (Examples Health & lifestyle surveys, 2015). On the
other hand, another health belief is health as emotional well being. In this, some of the human think
that if a person is emotionally weak then he will get ill very soon. Further, some of the people
related health belief to the lifestyle which they are currently following. According to them, if they
follow right lifestyle then they will live for long time. So, all UK society people have different
health beliefs because of their views to understand the importance and meaning of health.

2. Assessment of health beliefs based on two health behaviour models
With the application of Health Belief Model and Theory of Reasoned Action model, the
above stated three health beliefs of UK people have assessed. From the first framework, it has found
that it has defined their health behaviour issues. Along with this, people have different perceptions
behind adopting different health beliefs (Health Belief Model (HBM), 2013). When any kind of
health issues they have faced, they take actions for this to minimize the impact on thee health. On
the other hand, second health behaviour model shows that how belief of the person change
according to the health situations. In addition to this, there are various factors that influenced the
health of people of UK in different aspects.
3. Impact of political positions on different health promotion strategies and explain the relevance of
providing relevant health information to the public through schools, workplace and
neighbourhoods
Political positions of UK government made both positive and negative impact on different
health promotion strategies. For example, the aim of health care organization is to decrease the
death from alcohol by 15% on per year basis. In this situation, the existing government assist them
in different aspects such as providing funds, resources etc (VanVactor, 2013). On the other hand, it
is important to provide relevant information about well-being in public via schools, workplace and
neighbourhoods. For instance, to create awareness in the community related to the consequences of
smoking, the healthcare professionals and other supportive welfare NGO's contact with the schools,
workplace and neighbourhoods. With the help of different modes of communication, they can
spread important message to public.
CONCLUSION
From the above research, it can be concluded that health promotion has important aspect of
health and social care. Different kinds of socio-economic factors have influenced the health of the
people. Further, various health promotional models have used with the aim of promoting health and
well-being in the community.
