Diabetes can be defined as the metabolic disorders that can be caused due to various type
of tensions, hybrid problems, sugar level being lifted up and the level of metabolism charged
during the course of life. Now a days it is considered as the most important and prominent
disease as every 1 in 5 persons are suffering from it and many new and innovative ways of doing
treatment are being adopted each and every day. It is considered as the most expensive health
medicine as it covers entirely half the amount of cost of hospitality and treatment expenses
caused to the patients and they didn't get compensation of it in return as it is a heavy charge
which every company cannot afford to return it to the patients (Marmot and et. al., 2012).
Various socio economic factors that affect the health of patients include;-
Measures are considered to be the important element of diabetes for Peter who is
suffering from type 2 diabetes needs to take care of lot of measures in taking proper and
critical cares at every stage of its treatment so that in case its gets increased then also the
patient doesn't suffer from any internal loss of blood or injury caused to all other organs

indirectly linked on the part of an individual to check its internal and external mental
ability, health, weight, hair loss, etc. that can result in a loss of persons life from internal
weakness and depression. As far as peter is concerned he is suffering from type 2
diabetes so he would need to take care of all the losses that can incubate his internal
weakness as well as trouble on the part of his family and living standards.
Social Factor: As Peter lives in refugee camp and he belongs to Sudan so he is having a
so much pressure of this situation, he is not having any relatives and friends which can
help them in this situation.
Economical factor: As he is having six children and no resources of earning it is making a
huge financial pressure on him, as he is living in refugee camp so it is a type of relaxation
which is provided by government to them.
Poverty: This is the main element which has a huge impact on the Peter and Sarah, they
are living as a refugee in the UK and they are not having enough money to take a better
medication which has decreased his health.
Education: Peter and Sarah both are not properly educated that's why they does not took
diabetes type 2 seriously.
Income: They are living in U.K. as refugees so hence they do it have any source of
income. Thus they mainly depends on social benefits so that they can earn some money.

in a good condition. So due to this factor also it has huge impact on health conditions of
both Peter and Sarah.
Education: They have not gain much eduction as they had not get employment anywhere.
So thus due to thus they cannot start any small businesses and cannot earn money for
their livelihood. Hence it leads to reducing their health. It also reduces concentration
level and behaviour of peter and Sarah both. Most important reason is that without
getting good and proper education they do not get job or employment anywhere. Thus
they do not have income. Hence slowly and slowly they cannot get food items to eat.
They can live ion worse conditions. Due to this it has adverse impact on health.
1.2 Relevance of reports and research in reporting inequalities
Inequalities in health care are related to all the external factors that caters to the way in
which any disease can be removed from stage 1 to its last or 4th stage on the urge of making all
the arrangements for providing all the facilities to the different sections of society and making
them the best available resources at low cost or affordable cost. Inequalities are generated on the
basis of various factors that can be adopted so that every person can be analysed and identified
on the part of making the patient available all the facilities.;-
Social Standings:- It means that all the social respect an individual has in the society that can
affect the treatment of the individual in respect of education as well as the risk of poverty can
affect the individual from getting better treatment and better services (Kuo, Mac Bird and
Tilford, 2011). Peter and Sarah being an unproductive persons are not able to utilize all the basic
and health facilities that can affect the way their heath can be controlled.
Behavioural Factors:- These are the factors that can cause the behaviour, mindset of the people
to change in different situations in way that each and every person has different types of believes
and values that can affect their health on the part of recovery and then they can develop and
grow better. In the case study Peter and Sarah both were in such a mind stage that created the
loss of their recovery due to their own internal weakness and inner problems.
Psychological Factors'- These are those factors that can cause the person to take stress,
hypertension, and various other pressures that can create individual loss of life and various other
types of losses in respect to various health, monetary issues.

Research reports and journals published by government has a play a major role in
providing informations regarding to inequalities. By this people can know what are their rights
and how they can use it. As Peter is suffering from diabetes type 2 so it is essential for him to
know how much financial support he can get by insurance companies as a medical. Also by this
these people can get information regarding to equality in between poor and rich people. Acheson
report has provided enough details about type of inequalities in the health sector on which
government can work which can support to provide better health provisions to those people
which are having need of proper treatment.
There are many reports which have severe impact on inequalities on health conditions.
Reports created by Govt. are-
Black report: This repost had been created to reduce the health inequalities. This is
created so that it can improve conditions of public. Thus through report it can improve health
inequalities. It covers following points:
There is a lecture which is given by Sir John Brother stone and they have said to improve
working conditions of health.

achieve objectives such as collecting relevant data of differences in health among all
people and problems which helps in promoting them.
Research can be dine so that they can find health status and can take step to remove the
health inequalities among all people.
It has 3 parts basically. 5 chapters helps in telling inequalities and they measure health

Through Acheson report steps are taken for family and improving conditions of poor. So
hence it leads to reducing inequality and improving conditions of Peter and Sarah.
1.3 Potential barriers in providing health care to Peter and Sarah
The main barriers that are related to Peter and Sarah are:-
Financial Barriers;- All the barriers that can help the individuals to adopt various policies and
can affect the health of individuals in the manner that people who cannot afford to buy heath
services can have to suffer due to high quality and high cost of the services. In the case being
poor persons the peter and Sarah also are not are not able to recover from their illness due to
lack of finance with them. And this can affect their mental health also that can be taken from the
level of depression to death.
Mental Weakness: The mental weakness of an individual affects the health of an individual in
the manner that if the person who is suffering from any disease creates mental pressure or morale

government.si is k,
Financial problems: It is required for any person to have a better financial stability to survive in
any condition as Peter and Sarah are not having good economical conditions so it is creating an
internal depression in them.
Geographical barrier: It can also be a barrier if there is distance between home and
hospital. If they are well cleaned and good roads then many people can easily get treatment and
can take services of health care. If there are no communication medium then people cannot
interact with their friends or hospital then they cannot get medical treatment very easily. So in
thus case Peter and Sarah are both are poor persons. They are living in U.K. They do not have
much money to deliver in luxury house. In almost developed countries good medical hospitals
are at distance and care home is at some distance. So hence it takes time to reach at that place
and thus they cannot access to health care services. They do not have money to bear expenses of
care home. Due to this barrier they cannot get medical facilities.
Availability: There are longer waiting hours and limited time of opening and closing
hospitals of care home. So poor people have to wait for longer hours. Hence Peter and Sarah
have to wait for longer hours as there can be big que in care home. There is also a limited time of
giving health care services. So due to this they cannot access to health care services. As a result
they do get treatment.
Acceptability: There is a time consuming process as it takes huge time of getting
services. So hence Peter and Sarah are poor people. So they have to fill documents in care home.
They have to wait for many hours. They have to get number and then only the can get treatment
for health services. So hence it is time consuming and complex process. So it is barrier for both
in getting health care services.
Due to these barriers both Peter and Sarah cannot get access to health care services.

TASK 2
2.1 Relation in between government strategies and Betties model of health promotion
Health promotion is a way which enables people to improve their health and also have
control over their health. But in case of Peter and Sarah they both are not aware of healthy living
so that they were suffering from type 2 diabetes. That time there were not much sources tom
promote healthy living (Korda and Itani, 2013). So that the people were not having knowledge
about the healthy living and healthy diet etc. After these type of cases government started
making strategies regarding healthy living and health promotions. The main objective of health
promotion is to help people or group to reach a state of physical, social and mental well being. It
includes individual and group who are being capable of:
Identify aspirations
Satisfy their needs
Change with the environment
Health promotion help people to increase control over their health so that they can
improve their health. Health promotion promotes a range of activities which are as follows:
Community based work
Environmental health
Health education
Economic regulatory based activities
Public Policies
Organisational development
Preventive health services
All levels of government local, state and federal play a very important role in health
promotion. To assist and direct countries in achieving the better health for the citizens many
health organisations are established such as The Unite Nations, World Health Organisations and
United Nations Children's Fund (Kirmayer and et. al., 2011). All these are working for the health
promotion.
Beattie’s model of health promotion: This model of health promotion is a very complex model
that shows that health promotion is inserted in wider social and cultural practices. This model

and generate new strategies for successful health promotion. This model is consist of four factors
which represents the health promotion in different ways by professionals, government and
individuals. In the cases like Peter and Sarah the Beattie's model of health promotion helps
people to analyse the present and past strategies made for healthy living. It also helps them to
achieve a healthy life and a life free of diseases. Government and professionals works in top
down approach through legislative action and health promotion techniques. The main object of
this approach is to protect individual and communities. The personal counselling approach helps
to enhance the knowledge and skills. Health promotion can be improved by using Betties model:
Health persuasion: Government has to increase health promotions to create focus of their
citizen on hazards. As Peter is suffering from Diabetes type 2 so it is essential for the
government to take people's focus on this.
Legislative action: Legislation has provides rights to people to use services for the betterment of
health and make their support in GDP.
Personal counselling: It is essential for people which are suffering from a critical disease as
Peter who has a need of proper care personal counselling.
Community development: This an liability of government to make a proper change in
community development by making a better change in legislation.
2.2 Role of different professionals in health and social care to attain the health promotion targets
Peter and Sarah both are not habitual of living in a healthy environment. They both are
refugee in UK came from Sudan (Hodge and Horvath, 2011). They were send to a care home
which will help them to live a healthy life. The care home members help them in living a better
life but they both are habitual of drinking and smoking. They were not aware of diseases. But
now a days health care professionals performs a very important role in achieving healthy living.
There has been a increase in public awareness regarding diseases and demand for
information and assistance regarding diet and disease relationships. Good nutritional practices
are very important factor to prevent and control many diseases and in promoting health. Health
care professionals must respond to these increasing needs. To promote health, health care
professionals must perform many roles such as education, modelling, organizing, advisory and

Now a days several voluntary organisations, government agencies and private agencies
help health professionals to expand their role towards health promotion. They help them to
inform consumers to improve their dietary practices. They help them to improve the health of the
people. However it enhanced cooperation among these organisations needed to perform complex
task effectively. Here are some professionals which are having a huge role in health and social

depression just because of not getting job so they depend upon the social benefits as income. Just
because of not having any money they din not follow any kind of healthy routine (Gleghorn and
