INTRODUCTION
Health and social care is a term which is used in services that is provided by health and
social care providers in different care home. In the present report, it will discuss about roles and
responsibility of Care Quality Commission and their essential standards of quality and safety in
care homes. Different types of care which is given in care home is also explained in this report.
In last, it will talk about giving recommendation to a client about her accommodation service and
which professionals could be involved in her care respectively.
MAIN BODY
1. Role of the Care Quality Commission and explain the purpose of the essential standards of
quality and safety
The main purpose of care quality commission or CQC is that they help in maintaining
quality standards of the care home by ensuring that they are following all rules and regulation
properly. They also help in encouraging care providers to improve their services as well (Care
Quality Commission, 2018). There are many roles which care quality commission follows, such
as:
CQC measures all the standards and regulation of quality and safety which is mandatory
for any care home to follow.
They assist in registering new care providers in the care home.
Care Quality Commission helps in monitoring, inspecting and rating the services of care
home to check whether they are working effectively and properly or not.
They also take care of the people who are taking services of these care home to protect
them from any harm or abuse (Duties of the Care Quality Commission (CQC), 2018).
CQC interact with different people to analyze any issue which might occur in the care
home so that they can resolve it as early as possible.
Purpose of these essential standards of quality and safety is very crucial for any care
home as it helps them to work effectively. There are various standards that are included in this.
For example, care and welfare of people who uses their services, safeguarding their customers
from any harm and abuse, making care home neat and clean, etc (Aveyard, 2014). All these
standards are mandatory for them to apply in their system. This will help them in increasing their
popularity and standards.

2. Explaining induction standards in health and social care and its importance
Induction standards are planned to help social care providers to improve their services. It
can include various aspects, such as, personal care of their customers, health and safety
measures, care duty from their providers, etc. There are several areas which are included in this
induction standards in health and social care, such as,
Health and social care provider's roles and responsibility is very crucial which has to be
managed properly by care homes.
Personal Development of their care providers plays an important role in improving their
overall service (What are common induction standards, 2017).
It is very important for care providers to communicate with their customers effectively as
this will help them in understanding their issues and problems more precisely and
properly.
For health and social care, it is very crucial to follow all rules and regulations that are
mandatory for them as this will help them work smoothly.
Another induction standard is principle of implementing duty of care in these care home.
It has to be done properly and all the providers should know their responsibility towards
their organization (Brett and et.al., 2014). There are different approaches which can be used by them, such as, Person-centered
support, which helps them in focusing on individual person that are staying in the care
home. This process helps in getting touch with them understand their issues and
problems.
Importance of induction standards in health and social care
There is a huge importance of induction standards in HSC as it helps them in maintaining
their quality and standard. It guides about standards and codes of practice that is related to work
role in care home.
3. Type of care provided in the care home
There are various types of services which are being provided in the care home for their
customers providing personal care, the home providing nursing care, and sheltered
accommodation. Some care provided in care home is described below:
In-Home care: In this type of care, services is being provided in customer's personal
home only. It is usually done by family members, relatives, and friends or by professional

care providers as well. In this in-home care service, it basically includes helping them in
daily routine work, for example, cooking, cleaning, etc (Types of Care, 2018).
Skilled Nursing Care: These are basically known as nursing homes which provides 24
hours services to them. They help in balancing quality of care and life of their customers
by providing them the best services according to their requirements. Their services can be
divided in three different sections, i.e., nursing, medical and personal care.
Medical Care: This type of care helps in providing services related to medical assistance.
These includes professionals who are working in medical field. They basically work with
staff, residents and families to develop care plans for them which can help them in giving
medical facilities.
Personal Care: This type of care helps in providing services related to their customer's
daily work routine. This can include, giving them in getting ready, walking, bathing,
eating, etc. These can be given at their home or at care home (Types of Care, 2018).
Dementia Care: This is the common term which is used to describe a set of symptoms
which has a huge impact on the social and intellectual ability of a person, for example,
loss of memory, communication problem, etc. In this, special care is being provided to
them in the care home by their providers to help them.
4. Give recommendation to Mrs Freeman for her accommodation and which professionals could
be involved in her care
As per the given case, Mrs. Freeman has leg ulcer and being frail is unable to live on its
own. It is recommended that she can take residential care home service in which it will help her
in providing 24 hours services and will also regularly monitoring her to check the overall
progress (Cameron and et.al., 2014). Apart from this, she can also appoint a medical professional
which can assist her in giving personal medical care of her problem as well. These
recommendations can be very useful for Mrs. Freeman if they use it.
CONCLUSION
From the above report, it can be concluded that it is very important for health and social
care to maintain their standards and quality of work. By implementing different principles and
measures which can help them in improving their services. In addition to these topics, this report

recommendation to Mrs. Freeman about their problem.
