AI Summary
This report discusses the increasing pressure on healthcare systems worldwide to improve performance and deliver high-quality services while controlling costs. One significant reform is the shift from paper records to electronic health records (EHR) accessible via smartphones and tablets. The report highlights applications like Meditech ambulatory EHR, Spok mobile, and Airstrip Cardiology, detailing their functionalities and benefits for clinical staff, hospital communication, and patient care, particularly for cardiac patients. It also addresses the potential costs associated with implementing these technologies, including infrastructure, training, and maintenance. Despite the costs, the report emphasizes the advantages of space-saving, ease of use, data security, and improved accessibility. Health Care Management
All over the world, the system for the delivery of health care has been under high
pressure to upgrade performance to offer high-quality services to the patient and also reduces and
control the cost of running the existing systems. One of the significant reforms in the healthcare
is the transformation is the use of electronic records by use of smartphones and tablets from the
ancient paper records/ bookkeeping. The data base application system contains data stored and
well organized, can be accessed at ease and cab be easier retrieved (Zang, Zhang, & Zhu, 2015).
The Meditech ambulatory EHR is an application designed for clinical staffs and can
access information from any location at any time. It is also integrated which ensures there exist
only a single record file in the hospital thus enhancing safety and efficiency.
Spok mobile is an application which offers a secure app for hospital smartphones or
tablets. This is a texting app which is upgrades and provides an effective communication channel
among the staffs in the hospital thus ensuring that they deliver better and safe care. It also allows
the senior officers of hospital access private records and have a secure consultation by the use of
their device.
On the other hand, airstrip cardiology is a mobile application designed for patients with
heart problems that assist physicians to make manage the health of the patient by editing from
any location. It aids in the cardiac treatment as this treatment requires immediate decisions.
In term of costs, these applications may be expensive as compared to the manual records
as power is required to run them. The health facility maybe also find it valuable to install them as
they may be required to buy electronic gadgets such as computers. The facility will also employ
technicians to operate the machines thus additional cost. More cost will be incurred on training

the hospital staffs on how to use the application system. This additional cost maybe be a
financial burden for the healthcare thus may prefer not to adapt to it.
Highly trained personnel are required for the installation/ implementation of healthcare
mobile application. These applications also need to be purchased from the authorized dealers to
avoid a faulty system which may lead to data loss. For the application to fully implement a
reliable internet source is required. The main advantage of the installation is that saves space
which have been used for storing the files and cabinets' for the paper data.
The easy to understand and use as one is only required to enter the necessary
information. Other health workers are can also access information easily as the information is
safe and secure. In most instances, Heath care applications meet the users' satisfaction since the
user is aware that the data stored is secure and can retrieve it at any point in time.it also relieves
the user burden of carrying documents and saves them on the time they could have used in
search of a particular document since it is fast.
There is a recommendation for Meditech's ambulatory EHR, to improve their app to
enable clinical communication among the health professionals thus ensuring there is integration
among all the departments in the hospitals (Myers, Jones, & Sittig, 2015)..
