2.1 Explain the implementation of policies, legislation, regulations and codes of practices
From case study it can be analysed that the implementation of policies and regulations
were not proper in fleetwood hallome (Dickinson and O'Flynn, 2016 ). There are many acts
which has to be followed and imposed by UK government. These are as follows :-
Health and social care act 2012- It is included in legislation which consists of several acts and
laws. It ensures that changes in policies are made as per ethics, background, etc of population. It
contains standards of how to deliver care and services to patients. In context of case study, care
services were not delivered properly to both men and women. staff was not properly trained as
well.
Mental capacity act 2005- In this there are many policies included related to procurement of
medicines. The medicines have to stored and records must be maintained properly. With
reference to case study, it can be identified that patients were not given medicines as per their
needs. Also, medicines were not stored and audited as per mental capacity act 2005.
Care standard act 2000- It gives right to patient and included codes of practices which are
required in maintaining records of patients. It ensures that patient data and information must be
kept secured and protected by management. From case study, it can be analysed that patient data
was not recorded properly. This led to non availability of staff to each patient. There was
shortage of staff to attend patients and their family members.
It can be stated that there was a high impact of codes of practices and policy on fleetwood
hallome. during inspection of CQC, it was identified that according to structure of care home
policies were not implemented in proper way. In addition to it, policy and practices ensures that
care are delivered in effective way. also, it set guidelines for staff on how to deal with situation.
With help of it. local authority can control operations of care home. Besides it, changes in
practices can be made with regards to policy (Gradinger and et.al., 2015). Therefore, there is
high impact of policy on fleetwood hallome. The care will be provided to both men and women
separately as per their needs. Staff will be provided advance and proper training on how to adopt
best practices for health care. the medicine will be stored and managed in proper way. the care

This can be determined by that both men and women were having common bathrooms.
There was no system of managing an incident. Moreover, as per mental capacity act 2005,
medicines were not stored properly (Krachler and Greer, 2015). These all impacted in health of
individuals in negative way. women were not feeling safe. so, it impacted on their mental health.

There are several methods through which policies and procedure can be developed in
fleetwood hallome. There are some steps through which policies are developed. They are as
follows :-
Working with care organization - They can work with other care organization to develop
procedures. This will allow them to identify what process are followed to determine needs of
patients (Glasby and Dickinson, 2014). With help of it, policies can be developed in Fleetwood

Risk assessment- The manager of care home can do risk assessment. It will be useful in finding
out weak areas and policies can be developed. It will also be beneficial in mitigating risk through
monitoring of policies. Then, accordingly policies can be developed

can be determined. Thus, staff can be involved in decision making and policy development.
Hence, accordingly documents can be prepared by consulting it with stakeholders. It can be
customized with change in national policy.
2.3 Evaluate the impact of policy, legislation and codes of practices
It can be stated from case study that due to non following of policies and legislation in
proper way, it impacted highly on quality of care. The code of conduct was not followed while
giving medicines to patient. This impacted in negative way on their health. It led to numerous
errors in storing of medicines. Besides this, care standard act 2000 was not followed. Due to this
staff and patient record was not maintained properly. So, proper care plan was not developed and
patient needs were not fulfilled. Thus, there was not enough staff to attend patients. Furthermore,
it can be analysed that there were no separate bathrooms for men and women. This was due to
