Introduction
Background to the Study
The study revolves round the local Hispanic community and their health issues like
mental disorders , HIV and heart issues. Hispanic community people frequently suffer from
severe to chronic mental disorder problems which are being increasingly linked to heart
diseases like stroke. The lack of awareness in this respect is striking. In the community,
naturally this has lead to death and disability in many young to middle aged people creating a
disruption in the flow of income. Nearly one-fourth of the U.S population is comprised of
Hispanic people suffering from a number of untreated health diseases owing to their socio-
cultural factors.

According to Bridges et al., (2014) integrated mental health care services can be
implemented to handle the increasing rate of mental degeneration leading to social alienation
amongst the Hispanics. Health care facilities like free checkup and counseling could be used
for reducing the rate of stigmatization that prevents the people to come up openly and talk
about their depression. The paper has provided an extensive research into the factors that has
accentuated the rate of health diseases like mental problems, cardiovascular problems and
HIV. Lack of resources and education as well as their alienation from the mainstream society
has resulted in the increase of these health factors. Although a number of healthcare facilities
have been set up to deal with the proliferation of health diseases , community people do not
attend these due to work. Consequently the health issues go undetected resulting in more

number of serious consequences and premature death. Therefore a growing number of health
problems have emerged from the racial minorities. At this juncture, the integrated behavioral
health care facility would reduce racial inequalities and address the major issues that are
damaging the community health. The system would automatically reduce demographic
disparities and result in a community with equal access to healthcare systems.

Very little is known about the outcome of treatment of HIV among the Hispanic
immigrant due to HIV infection. Thus, a study conducted that compares the documented and
the undocumented patients that are undergoing a 12 months HIV care.
Methodology- A retrospective cohort study was conducted for the patients that are 18
years older and the attended the Thomas Street Health Centre located in Houston. The
population selected for the study was 1620 adults infected with HIV.
Results- the undocumented patients showed a lower median initial in comparison to
the documented patients and the white patients. After entering into the HIV care, the
Hispanics that are undocumented depicted similar results in comparison to the undocumented
white and the Hispanics.
Conclusion- the undocumented Hispanics are more likely to enter into the HIV infection care
that is having the advanced diseases than in comparison to the Hispanics that are
documented. The study has shown that the undocumented Hispanics are showing better
outcomes in comparison to the other ethnic groups (Poon et al., 2013).

Among the Hispanics in the United States, the burden of the cardiovascular diseases is
assessed through this study. The study also deals with the health issues of the Hispanics and it
includes the potential treatment and the prevention strategies.
Methods- AHA’s Manuscript Oversight Committee nominated some writing members
and the group of people selected with respect to the Hispanics that are having the
cardiovascular diseases. The committee conducted a comprehensive literature review that
summarized the existing evidence and data. The literature review was conducted form the
online databases like PubMed as a primary resource, and the Cochrane Library Reviews, US
census data, and the centres for Disease Control and prevention. The data collection was
based on the cardiovascular disease outcomes, risks, treatment response, prevalence,
incidences.
Results- the finds depicted that the knowledge of the Hispanics regarding the cardiovascular
diseases and the other sociocultural issues that potentially impact the Hispanics communities.
The information further suggests that there is a need to increase the understanding of the
impact of the public health regarding the cardiovascular diseases within the US population.
The Authors provided the recommendations within the 9 domains that actually provide
support and the development of the Hispanics population.
Conclusion- healthcare researchers and the professionals need to positively consider
the impact of the ethnicity and the culture along with the measurement of the behaviour of the

1. Have you gone through periods of mental depression? Or phrases where you felt more
psychological discomfort?
2. What did you experience during those phrases? How long did it take you to realize the
problems you are facing on frequent basis?
3. Have you considered for mental checkup? If not why?
4. How did the people around you react to your crisis? Did it create an impact on you?
Interviewee A
1: Yes.
2: I have experienced symptoms like bouts of irritation and thoughts of suicide. It took
me 2-3 days to realize something is different with me.
3: No I have not, because I cannot afford a mental checkup since I have to feed five
people in my home. Counseling sessions are quite costly.
4: My family members thought it is normal and go away with time. My neighbors were
dubious about it restricted their communications with me.
