Scenario description
The business that I have decided to choose for my project is the Health Gym. This business itself
is a well-equipped gym that has the facilities to meet an individual needs. The Health Gym
consists of a gym that people can use on losing weight, gaining mass, stress relief, meditating
etc. The gym has several of equipment’s that are used on developing people’s strengths of their
body and of their skeleton muscles. These equipment’s are the triceps Bar, Benches, Dumbbells,
Preacher Bench, Rowing machine, treadmill, Sauna Machine included as this helps on resting the
sore muscles or flushing toxins from your body. The Health Gym is there to help each
individuals accomplish their goals.

Websites
This is one of the key factors of operations, as the website would be used on collecting valuable
information from clients. This is demonstrated when the clients apply for a membership at the
Health Gym, all of their details are up on the system, therefore the clients valuable information
such as billing address, phone number, email and bank details can all be filled up on the website
by the clients, this is then easily accessed by the administration team of the Health Gym and then
get processed on giving the membership to the client. The website is also used on updating
customer’s regularity about any discounts or offers etc. This is done by allowing customers on
having the access on seeing all of the up to date information of the gym and regularly informing
clients of any changes that may occur.
Administrative/ Management
The administration is the main asset of the business as this help the Health Gym on managing
each of their departments and handling the business by helping with the decision making that
takes place on running the business. The Administrative are a main asset to the business because
they ensure that all the departments within the Health Gym are in place and are running smoothly
Customer service support
Another key factor of operations is customer service support. These is because it is important on
interacting with the customers as if they have any enquiries, or have a complaint then the
customer service support can help them with their enquiries. This is demonstrated when a
customer is enquiring about the different types of services that Health Gym provides then the
customer service support can give the client the suitable service that would meet the customers
need or requirements.

Functions
 Membership- this is a function of the business as it offers clients on joining up the gym
monthly with included facilities such as sauna which help reliefs any sore muscles of the
body, beauty suite included which offers clients the range of the beauty treatments and
health assessments can be offered to clients that may have concerning issues such as heart
health and helping the client on seeing what health balance is suitable for them. These
services are there to provide customers with the best facilities their membership has to
offer.
 Providing equipment’s for clients to use- this is a key function as the Health Gym provide
their customers will all the high quality of equipment for them to use.
 New customers- This is there for new existing customers on joining up with the Health
Gym as they can see all the offers and facilities that the Health Gym has to offer.
 Providing one to one training- Health Gym can provide clients with personal training by
having one to one session with a qualified onsite personal trainer on helping them to be
motivated on achieving their goals. In addition having a personal trainer can help the
clients in Health Gym by creating a tailored program which the trainer can help the client
on working with their abilities or needs, this can then help the clients on developing their
skills.
The role of your proposed BIS for the business
The business information system that I have decided to use for my business is database. This is
beneficial for Health Gym as having a database for the business can help on storing out
information quickly and easily. For example in the Health Gym, the client’s details can be easily
stores within the data on storing the client’s valuable information. One of the benefits that
database will have on the business is by checking a member of the Health Gyms history without
having the hassle on logging in to the program as the database will have the clients recent history
of their concession membership and their booking which are instantly recognize when they visit
the Health Gym. In addition, the access control of the database can help on monitoring each
clients as well as making sure of any problems on occurring and can be quickly fixed, rather than
being not noticeable on fixing. The database can be a real asset towards the business as this can
help on alerting the staff members of what clients that have missed their payments or simply help
deny them access if the clients have become too far overdue. Moreover, the database system can
be easily used on directly accessing a client’s membership record.

Brief overview of BIS methods
BIS is the Business Information System. BIS stands for – B – Business, I – Information, S –
System.
The Business Information System (BIS) transform the raw data into the information. It takes
input and gives the output in the correct form.
There are some methods that help the Business Information System like below-
1. Efficiency – it shows the measure of what is produced divided by the performed data.
2. Complexity – it shows the complexity between the modules of the system.
3. Performance – it shows the main objective of the system.
4. Control- the capability of the information system to work under the controlled
environment.
Components of computer-based Information Systems
Hardware- this is the main machinery,
which includes the computer itself

Data- This is important to the computer-based information because without the third element of
the CBI (Computer based information) the software is not able to function without the key data.
This would be use for my business as I would require the raw data information of my clients
(Clients address, phone number, email address, bank details etc) this is important as it helps
collecting the data and maintain each clients membership of the Health Gym.
Human- Every computer based information require people on creating the system. This is the
most important element of the computer based information system.
Procedures- This is there to show how it will be process. This is because procedures are the main
policy that operates a computer system. This is important for my business as I can access which
client’s lives closer to the Health Gym by processing and this is then processed the data into
information.

Weather/ location- This factor can affect the business environment, for example if a business
allocates a location then they would need to find the right location which has access to all the
resources such as the raw materials, labor, transportation etc. The weather therefore can affect
the business because for instant transportation, costs may be higher or the labor cost may not be
available because of the location of the business. In addition, this may also restrict the growth of
the business.
General environment
Economic factors- the factors that have an effect on my business are the inflation rate, interest
rates, fiscal policies and monetary. For a business like Health Gym, this will have a major impact
on the demand and prices to their services. If there is an increase to the interest rates than this,

mean people will have less money on spending on leisure. This factor can affect my business as
if client’s have less money to spend then they will only have enough on spending for necessities
and not using the money for leisure activities. This then can lead to Health Gym closing down as
there are less people joining up and less revenue coming in the business.
Legislation- this can be a factor affecting the business as legislation are changing from time to
time so this means all business must follow the legislation that takes place and this can therefore
can affect the business environment.
Technology- this can be a factor affecting my business because of the high demand on
technology changing each minute and having new resources of technology. Therefore, this factor
can affect my business, for example if my business does not have the latest resources then
therefore no clients will want to join up the Heath Gym and apply elsewhere.
Public opinion- this can be a factor that affect my business as if the public give their perception
of my business in a negative way then this will decrease my sale intake, as no clients will want to
join up with my business because of the negative opinion.
Specific Environment
Customers- Building a close relationship with the customer is important, as you are able to
influence the customer on purchasing a membership in your business. In addition, the market
research can be used on determining the effectiveness of your marketing messages.
Competitors- this can be a factor on affecting the business as there will be competitions between
businesses. In addition, being successful in your business can determine how popular your
business is and if theirs other businesses like yourself then there will be competitions between
the businesses.
Suppliers- this can also be a factor as suppliers can determine of raising the prices of supplying
the products to the businesses. In addition, suppliers order may not arrive on time and this can
affect the business, as they will have no goods to deliver to the customers.
Employee relations- this can influence the success of the business as due to some working
conditions, employees can disagree on working and this can affect the business because
employees will not work and then the business will not be making any sales.
Managerial decision-making

 Strategic decisions-(long-term decision): This involves having long-term implications on
the business enterprise.
 Tactical decisions- (Mid-term planning)- these decisions are taken place in the middle
level of the management
 Operational- (Short term planning) - these decisions are taking place on relating to the
day-to-day operations of the enterprise.
Discussion of your chosen method
One method that has a big impact towards my business is factors affecting the business
environment. This is because all the factors are important for the business as they influence the
operation and the performance of the business. This then helps the business know their key
strengths and weaknesses on how to improve their business. For example, the customers in the
business can give their feedback on how the service was and therefore this helps the business
improve their services/products.

Feasibility Study
Executive Summary
Feasibility study ensures the project is legally, financially and technically feasible or not. It is
very useful to find that whether the project is beneficial or not from all prospective. Feasibility
study ensures us that whether the project should be built or not and whether it will be successful
or not. It is very basic step and should be done first before starting work on the software
development.
The project can be tested feasibly in the following areas-
Technical feasibility
In technical feasibility, we check whether the organization can provide all resources for the
project or not. The resources may be hardware, software, humans etc. The Health Gym is
technically feasible as all resources like exercise machines, trainers etc. all can be easily
available.
Financial feasibility
In financial feasibility, we do the cost benefit analysis of the project. It checks whether the
proposed system will be beneficial for the organization or not. The cost of the resources allotted
to the project should be less than the benefit. The Health Gym will be economically feasible if
the location of the Health Gym is good and number of persons will join the Health Gym.
Managerial feasibility
In managerial feasibility, the viability of the proposed system is measured. The opportunities
along with the threats that may be gained by the environment will be checked in managerial
feasibility. The viability of the Health Gym will be excellent if the location, trainers etc. are good
because these factors are the most important factors for the Health Gym.

Scope
There are so many benefits of the feasibility study to the Health Gym as feasibility study checks
the viability of the proposed project in detail. It checks the cost and benefits of the Health Gym.
It checks all the required resources are available or not. There are so many other more factors
that are measured by the feasibility study like financial condition of the Health Gym etc. It
checks whether the Health Gym is financially beneficial or not after building as if the Health
Gym is not beneficial financially, it is not feasible to open the Health Gym at this location. There
should be some changes before building the Health Gym in case of not good financially.
Background
This is the new proposed system and a new gym will be open. It will not be integrated with any
other project. It is an independent project that will work for the Health Gym. There will be
different modules in the proposed system like management module, training module, customer
service module. All the modules will be connected to each other.

gym. That is why; the Health Gym is providing the best system with easy to access user

Conclusion
Feasibility study is the starting phase of the project development. It is the first step. It gives the
answer of the really important question- “Should we start the project?” after feasibility studies
the organization can move ahead. If the results are not good after feasibility study, the
organization does changes in the project or dropped the idea of creating the project.
It shows the main and important features of the proposed system which helps in developing the

The requirement analysis produces the approved requirement specification document. Following
methods are sued to complete the requirement analysis-
Stakeholder Analysis
Stakeholder analysis is the process to identify the stakeholders and their needs. It describes the
stakeholders, their needs and the relationship between the stakeholders.
Stakeholders are those who directly and indirectly affect the project goal. There may be different
stakeholders like individual, department in the organization, group or individual in or outside the
organization. Stakeholders are categorized into the following category-

Primary stakeholders are the software development department. There will be different groups in
the software development department like software developers, testers, data modelers, data
analysts, business intelligent analysts etc.
The software department analyzes the project and work on the project to achieve the project goal
and the testing team tests the project for good results.

Secondary stakeholders are the project manager and the administrative team. They manage the
complete project and under their guidance only, it can be accomplished.
The project manager and the administrative team make scenario and give instructions to the
developer team and testing team.

The tertiary stakeholders are client or investors. They are very important in achieving the goal of
the project. They provide the amount to make a successful project.

User Requirement Methods
There are so many user requirement methods that are used to describe the requirements of users
to achieve the project goal. In this project we’ve used the stakeholder analysis that will show all
the stakeholders and their working.
The task analysis is also one of the best ways to describe the requirement of the users. This
analysis models the tasks that show the user’s need directly.
Information can be gathered by many ways like survey, focus group, interviews etc. in survey we
take the surveys from the users and know about their needs. In focus group method, we focus on
groups and obtain their views and analyze them. In interview method, we take interviews from
users and know the user needs.
The Health Gym did a survey by taking 5 users. In survey, the health gym gave some questions
to all users and the users gave answers to those questions in 2 minutes. The users are given very
less time because the there were very simple questions given to all. The questions were same for
all users.

Requirement Elicitation
In this the stakeholders and their needs are discussed. Stakeholders are very important part of the
software development. The needs and requirements of the stakeholders are as follows-
Primary Stakeholder
Primary stakeholders are the software development department. In software development team
there will be developers, data modelers, data analysts, business intelligent analysts and testers.
The developers will require the software and hardware to make the project and the testers will
require the testing tool etc.
The required hardware –
1. Windows operating system – it is the operating system. Without operating system, a
computer cannot work. The operating system may be any other like Linux, Unix, But for
Health Gym, we will use the Windows operating system because it is very user friendly.
2. Minimum RAM – RAM is the Random Access Memory and the 1 GB minimum RAM is
required for the Health Gym software system.
The required software –
1. Microsoft SQL Server – it is the database management system. there are many other
database management system like Oracle, MYSQL etc. but the Microsoft SQL Server is
most suitable for the Health Gym software system.
2. Microsoft Visual Studio .Net – it is the software development tool. It provides the
environment to develop the software. It is very compatible with Microsoft SQL Server.
The testing tools –
1. Agile testing tools – these tools are the testing tools that are very useful in testing the
software system.

Secondary stakeholders are the project manager and the administrative team. They need the
software only to run the project at their end. They give the feedback and check the reports on
regular interval of time.

Tertiary Stakeholder
The tertiary stakeholders are client or investors. They are very important in achieving the goal of
the project. They need the software only to check whether the work is going on right track or not.
If they feel good only, then they will invest into the project. They need the documentation also to

Data flow diagram is used to show the dataflow between the processes. It show the concept of-
Input  Process  Output
Data flow diagram shows the relation between the input and output components. The DFD does
not show the timing of processes.
Operations / Functions Identification
The Health Gym has following operations-
Register
Register is an operation that registers the new customer. It stores the complete detail of the
customer.
Manage Employee
This operation manages the detail of the employees at Health Gym.
Manage Training
This operation adds and manages the detail of the trainings provided at Health Gym and allots
trainings to the customers.
Manage Service
This operation adds and manages the detail of the services provided at Health Gym and allots
services to the customers.
The Health Gym has following functions-
Add New Customer
This function belongs to the Register operation. It adds the detail of the new customer into the
database.
Add Employee
This function belongs to the Manage Employee operation. It adds the detail of employee into the
database.
Edit Employee

This function belongs to the Manage Employee operation. It edits the detail of employee into the
database.
Add Services
This function belongs to the Manage Services operation. It adds the detail of new service into the
database.
Edit Services
This function belongs to the Manage Services operation. It edits the detail of service into the
database.
Add Training
This function belongs to the Manage Trainings operation. It adds the detail of new training into
the database.

DFD Level 0

DFD Level 0 diagram shows the relation between the system and its external entities. It is the
simplest data flow diagram. The health Gym system is showing below and the external entities-
Customer, Training, Employee and Services are being shown in the DFD Level 0 diagram.
DFD Level 1

DFD Level 1 diagram shows the data flow between major processes and data store. It shows only
the major and important processes. There are four major processes are being shown in the DFD
Level 1 diagram – Register, Manage Employee, Manage Training and Manage Services.
DFD Level 2

DFD Level 2 diagram shows the data flow between sub processes. It shows the data flow
between the processes till the process decomposes. Every process is decomposed into the sub
process like manage employee is decomposed into the “add employee” and “edit employee”
process.

The technology to be used in the business information system is web 2.0. This technology has
helped in enhancing the information exchange, collaboration etc. Cloud computing is the great
reason behind the success of web 2.0. It turned the web into application server. Web servers are
used to store applications and data and can be accessed online through web browsers from
anywhere.
There are so many services and applications can be built in Web 2.0 as mentioned below-

A blog is a single webpage that is used to show an opinion or brief explanation on any topic.
Wikis
It is a webpage or a group of WebPages that show the information and can be edited by the
accessed users.
Social Bookmarking
It allows the users to make list of bookmarks and to store them centrally on the remote computer.
Multimedia Sharing
It allows the users to share multimedia content centrally on the remote computer.
Podcasts
It allows the users to record the audio recordings, mostly in mp3 format.
Social Networking
It is a webpage that show the information related to different topics.

These are the most characteristics of web 2.0-

There are so many benefits of the web 2.0. Some of them are as follows-
1. It helps in sharing the knowledge in between the users of social networking sites.

3. It creates the agile and flexible social network.
4. It creates the collaboration and communication channels on reasonable price.
5. It creates the very effective knowledge base.

Web 2.0 Drawbacks
There are so many benefits of Web 2.0 but in spite of so many benefits, there are some
drawbacks of Web 2.0 like below-
1. There is some lacking in the information security.
2. It contains the copyright of the shared content and that is the reason that there is
some lack of information security.
3. The competition between different brands is very open here.
4. Any user have right to write something about any brand or person etc. and this is
very harmful for the reputation of that brand or person.
5. The load of maintenance is very high on the social networking sites because of
number of users. A social networking site contains millions of users. That is why;
it is very difficult and tough job.
Strategy to Use Web 2.0

Web 2.0 is very important and crucial technology. Before using Web 2.0, a good strategy
mentioned below should be followed-
1. First analyze Web 2.0 according to the business case study.
2. Discover the best suitable business area according to the Web 2.0.
3. Discover the capabilities of the organization and available resources in
support of Web 2.0.
4. Specify the target of the Web 2.0 solution.
5. Test the planned solution according to the specified criteria.
6. Evaluate the provided services and proposed deployed project based on Web
2.0.
7. Deploy the project and prepare for the maintenance.
Testing Plan
Testing is very crucial and critical in the software development for the quality point of view. It
absorbs the review of the processes like analysis, design and implementation. In testing we
mainly test the system to find that is the system working according to the specification or not.
That is why, it revolved around analysis phase. By testing we can check whether the system is
achieving the performance criteria or not.
There are some principles that should be followed for the testing phase in the software
development-
1. The testing plan should be planned earlier before the testing phase started.
2. It should be based upon the requirements of the software system. All requirements should
be checked while testing.
3. It I not possible to check all the features, functions etc. during the testing phase. Some
may be left and that is why; some exceptional cases should be considered later.
4. The testing process should follow the bottom-up approach i.e. testing should be started
from small modules to big modules.
5. Testing should not be done by developers only. It should be done by others who don’t
have idea about the system so that they can test the system from other point of views.
Factors that Affect the Testing
There are some factors that affect the testing of software systems like below-

Operability
The operations are defined in this and the tester does the testing according to the specified
operations.
Observations
The tester does the testing by observing the operations and features of the software system.
Decomposability
In this, the tester tests system by decomposing the system into small systems. It is easier than
complete system testing and the bug fixing is also very easy in this method.
Controllability
In this, the person who has in charge of the system designing and coding helps in testing. The
testers test the system under the guidance of the coder.
Simplicity
Simplicity is the most affecting feature. If the software system is very simple, the testing will be
very easy.
Types of Testing
There are different types of testing like below-
1. Black Box Testing
2. White Box Testing
3. Grey Box Testing
Every type of testing has different benefits and drawbacks. Every testing type has different
features and used in different situations like below-
Black Box Testing
In Black Box Testing, the tester has no idea or clue about the system architecture, functionality
etc. the tester only gives the input and observe the output.
Black Box Testing has following advantages-
1. It is very suitable for large systems as it is very difficult to know the complete
functionality of the large system. In this type of situation, Black Box Testing is very
suitable.
2. It can be done by the non technical staff also.

3. The working of tester and coder is different in this testing technique.
Black Box Testing has following disadvantages-
1. It is based upon the fixed scenario. It is not flexible according to the software system.
2. It focuses upon the small part of the system only.
3. Because of less system knowledge, it is not so much efficient.
White Box Testing
In White Box Testing, the tester should have complete knowledge about the system architecture,
functionality etc. the tested have to access the code in case of malfunctioning.
White Box Testing has following advantages-
1. It is very effective because it is based upon the knowledge.
2. It tests the system by testing the specific parts of the whole system.
White Box Testing has following disadvantages-
1. It is not suitable for the unskilled testers. It needs the technical tester who knows the
coding very well.
2. It is very time consuming because of finding error in code.
Grey Box Testing
In Grey Box Testing, the tester should know about the system partially. The tester can access the
design document and database to know about the system but cannot access the code.
Grey Box Testing has following advantages-
1. The testing can be done from the end user’s prospective.
2. The testing is easy in this and good testing scenario can be built.
Grey Box Testing has following disadvantages-
1. The testing does not cover the entire system because the code is not accessible to the
tester in this.
2. The tester has to done testing on the basis of design document. Sometimes It is not good
from the testing point of view.
Evaluation Plan

Evaluation shows the efficiency of the information system. By system evaluation we get the
answers of so many questions regarding information system like below–
1. How the system achieved the project goal.
2. Whether all resources being used properly.
3. Whether the project is delivered on time or not.
4. Which activities helped the system to achieve the system goal?
There are so many features for which we can evaluate the system. We can evaluate the efficiency
of the system in terms of performance, data, software, hardware, networks, human resources etc.
There are so many evaluation plans that will be considered to evaluate the system. Some of them
are as follows-
Interviews
Interview is an evaluation plan that evaluates the information system by taking interviews from
different users. It is the best way to evaluate the information system from the user’s prospective.
Survey
Survey is also one of the best evaluation plans that evaluate the information system by taking
surveys from different users. It is the best way to evaluate the information system from the user’s
prospective. In survey, the users give answers to the specific questions. It is a fixed format. All
users give the answers of same questions unlike interview.
Observations
Observation is an evaluation plan that evaluates the information system by observing the
functionality of the information system. For this the complete information system will be
observed and the final result will be based upon the functionality of all modules of the
information system.
Record Reviews
Record Reviews is also one of the best evaluation plans that evaluate the information system by
studying the reviews of different users about the specified information system. It is the best way
to evaluate the information system from the user’s prospective because it is very accurate
method. Users give review naturally without any pressure. That is why; it gives very accurate
results.
Checklist

Checklist is also one of the best evaluation plans that evaluate the information system by
checklist. The checklist is given to the users to fill. After reviewing the checklists, the evaluation
result is extracted.
Discussion Guides
Discussion Guides is the evaluation plan that evaluates the information system by reviewing the
discussions of different users about the specified information system. It helps in getting the real
data. Users give real reviews on discussion forums. That is why; the evaluation by discussion
guides is very real.
Necessary Steps for Evaluation Plan
These are the necessary steps for the evaluation plan-
1. First assess the aim and objective of the evaluation plan. It is the main point that should
be found accurately because the evaluation is based upon it only.
3. Define the scope of the evaluation. After knowing about the objective, the scope of the

Deployment is the process in which the information system gets released for user access. There
are so many factors that affect the deployment process and that should be in mind before
deployment. It is the last phase of the software development life cycle. It is the most important
part of the software development life cycle that helps the users

There are some deployments techniques like below-
1. Plan the deployment earlier to give the better outcomes.
2. Recognize the deployment audience because the deployment is going to be done for the
users only.
3. Recognize the strategy on which the deployment is to be done.
4. Test the installation software’s.
5. Release the versions of the software on regular basis.

Controlled Deployment
In controlled deployment plan, the deployment of the software is done under the guidance of the
person who is in charge of the software development and design. In this plan, the testing is done
after the deployment.
This deployment plan is very useful and generally used in all organizations because this is very
reliable and error free.
Highly Controlled Deployment
In highly controlled deployment plan, the deployment of the software is done under the guidance
of the support team. Entire team takes care of the deployment process and checks all the
conditions carefully.
In this plan, the testing of all resources and environment is done before deployment. This is very
secure deployment plan. It is the highest costly plan and that is why not all organizations take
this plan.
Demonstration Plan
The demonstration of the project is very important and necessary. It is required for the
management level employees and there are so many techniques and tools to demonstrate the
project.
Some of the tools to demonstrate the project are as follows-
Microsoft Power Point
The Microsoft Power Point is a very powerful tool. It creates the slides and the user can show the
slideshow to the audience. It is very easy to use and very understandable to the audience.
Microsoft Project
The Microsoft Project is also very powerful tool. It is used to show the project planning etc.
The above mentioned tools are sufficient to demonstrate the Health Gym project.
