1HEALTHCARE ASSIGNMENT
There are multiple Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs) of a Health Information
Manager which would be the priority of Fred, if he accepts the position I his organisation.
These KRAs include determination of availability, maintaining security and integrity of
patient data and developing collaboration among the professionals to spread the awareness
about the importance of integrity of these aspects (Sittig & Singh, 2015).
As mentioned in the case situation that the healthcare facility was unable to maintain
the healthcare information security and all the patient’s records were not properly organized
due to which, it would be his responsibility as Health Information Manager. Hence, in this
condition, Fred need to understand the implementation of Electronic Health Record system
for the management and storage of patient data and spread awareness and education about the
usage of it in the care professionals of the acute care center (Sittig & Singh, 2015). As per
Hopia et al. (2015), as a Health Information Manager, one of the major challenges Fred
would be suffering from the lack of compliance of the care professional to the electronic care
environment. Hence he should arrange Electronic Health Record audits in the healthcare
facility to understand the compliance level of professionals in the process (Green et al.,
2015). Further, it would help him as a Health Information Manager to control the unnecessary
access to patient data so that the privacy and security related changes of the process could be
prevented (Sittig & Singh, 2015). Further, it would be his responsibilities to determine the
aspects depending upon which the breaching would be addressed or managed.
