Understanding Health, Illness and Wellbeing, Level 4, 20 credits
By the end of this module you will be able to:
Appreciate a wide variety of ways in which health and illness are conceptualised in
individual and group behaviours, including reflection upon your own experience.

perspectives, particularly for topics that may be controversial in healthcare.
I have determined that there are wide variety of ways that will health and illness are
conceptualises in individual and group behaviour. I have experience that due to health
issues or illness individual is not able to effectively conduct required set of actions. This
impact over capabilities and strength of a person to attain goals. Illness reduces capability
of person to behave correct and appropriately in group and it impact over relationship of
individuals.
It has been determined that health and illness will lead to have major impact on diverse
social, cultural ideas as well as belief of a person behaviour (Yanek and et.al., 2016). Stress
can be consider as the important factor related to reflection upon health and illness. Due to
this a person is not able to participate in social and cultural ideas and their beliefs on
individual behaviour also influences.
There are different models related to health such as biomedical and bio psychosocial
perspectives. I have determined that there is difference between both these model and they
are important for enhancing health of an individual. Biomedical model is considered to be
significant for elimination of symptoms and it has more focus on treatment. Whereas bio-
psychosocial model has more focus on individual perception of their symptoms and it
includes the response of their families on the symptoms and experiencing.
There are different influence on health form different perspectives it has been identified
that health issues and problems will lead to have different impact on different individual.

Year 2
Delivering Health Promotion Interventions, Level 5, 20 credits
By the end of this module you will be able to:
Identify and address prevalent health promotion and public issues in the UK and across the
world
Articulate the importance of assessing and evaluating client knowledge and understanding of
behaviour modification when planning health promotion interventions
Demonstrate the appropriate application of screening tools and counselling approaches related
to modification of health behaviours in individuals and groups, including strategies to
empower self-management of health.
Public health issues can affect the overall wellbeing of an individual and it is important to identify the
early signs and symptoms of any illness. This can help in treating the same through appropriate
treatment at the initial stage. Public health issues that are prevalent within the United Kingdom as well
as across the world include smoking and mental health, cervical screening, obesity and the food
environment. It is also important to assess and evaluate client knowledge as well as their behaviour
when planning health promotion interventions because it helps in understanding their health condition
and providing effective services. By completing this module, I also learnt that appropriate screening
tools should be used in order to detect any early signs of an illness. I developed an understanding that
a screening tool is basically a questionnaire that is used by health care professionals in order to
identify patients early enough to provide them treatment. Apart from this, the module also helped me
in understanding that various counselling approaches can contribute in modifying the health
behaviours among individuals as well as groups. Individuals who suffers from a chronic illness are
provided with self-management so that they can manage their health on a daily basis. The module
helped me in learning about the various strategies that can be adopted to empower self-management
of health. These can include developing action plans in order to achieve goals and objectives, tracking
health outcomes of the individuals, assisting patients with setting health goals for a speedy recovery
etc.

Educating for Health, Level 5, 20 credits
By the end of this module you will be able to:
Understand the nature of learning and communication and the evidence supporting effective
teaching methods for use across the lifespan and in a variety of settings
Describe the use of, and apply, selected teaching methods and communication strategies to
promote health to individuals, groups and populations.
Select and evaluate education approaches appropriately to meet the needs of different clients
and populations
The module has helped me that communication is an important component when it comes to teaching
methods that are used across the lifespan. Communication allows a person to clearly understand what
is being spoken about. There are various communication channels that can be used to make sure that
the audience understands the message that is being delivered by a health care professional. I am now
able to understand that both communication as well as learning are two-way processes that require
good listening as well as speaking skills. Although communication can also be referred to as being
symbolic in nature wherein a person shares their ideas, perceptions and attitudes. People get to learn
about their health across the lifespan and in various settings like a healthcare institution. The module
has also helped me in understanding that various selected methods like providing information about
the importance of active living and healthy eating. Not only this, I also got an opportunity to learn that
other teaching methods like posters, leaflets, role play, discussions, charts etc. can also be used. On
the other hand, communication strategies include radio, newspaper, flyers, brochures, social media
etc. Education approaches include humanist approach, behaviourist approach and cognitive approach
that can assist in meeting the needs of the different populations and clients. This is because different
clients have different needs that can be fulfilled with the help of these various approaches. As a result,
the individual will get an understanding of the importance as well as benefits of health.
