INTRODUCTION
The mental health is one of most concerned issue that can make the impact on the proper
function of a human being (Dalgleish and et.al., 2020). There can be various types of trends that
can be seen in the mental health of the adults that falls in the age group of over 65. The adults of
the Hammersmith and Fulham area of London can be seen facing this issue.
The report will explain about the various aspects of the mental health that can make an
impact on the over all health of an adult. The aim of the report is to analyse and understand the
various aspects of the issue of mental health.

The area to which HNA report is based on is Hammersmith and Fulham London Borough
which is highlighting the demographic profile which is described as how the population is being
addressed and this concerns the major aspects of drawing the demographics which is 182,493 at
the time of census of 2011 and the current estimates of Hammersmith and Fulham London
Borough has risen to 185,004 which is an increase of 1.4%. This helps in knowing that it the
third lowest population growth in London. The population has projected to continue to rise faster
between the 2011 till 2022 (GALLO, GKIOULEKA and et.al., 2019). Hammersmith and Fulham
London Borough is unique for its community features which addresses that it is the home to
Hammersmith Apollo, which is London’s best known event venue, as well as two major clubs of
football along with central London venues and the O2 also (Chelsea F.C and Fulham F.C.)
Further, the key socio-economic circumstances in Hammersmith and Fulham London
Borough helps in addressing the aspects as to how the issues regarding the health is taken into
concern and this helps in knowing that there are certain aspects which are being addressed within

that influences life and health of the residents helps in knowing that how the adults over age 65
are living their life and are creating value to their life. The mental health problems are estimated
to be high and its prevalence is also high. The characteristics such as Hammersmith is the safest
residential area in London which helps in providing the people and specifically adults the life to
live (Director and Jolapara, 2018). Hammersmith and Fulham London Borough is one of the
quiet and peaceful area which helps in providing the homing and other health care facilities to
the adults which are in need and are considering the aspects of growth and development at large
scale within the Hammersmith and Fulham London Borough considering the life and health of
the residents.
The Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG) and health commissioners pay attention to in
terms of population health maintenance and improvement in Hammersmith and Fulham London
Borough help in addressing and working with the statutory NHS bodies which is responsible for
commissioning of health care service for the Hammersmith and Fulham London Borough area.
They are the trust cares which help in solving the mental health issues which the adults over the
age of 65 are facing and are suffering from (Coultas, Kieslich and Littlejohns, 2019). Both the
CCG and health commissioners pay attention to the care services which should be provided to
people and specifically in this case to adults over the age 65. Yes, there are certain longstanding
and recent changes that makes the Borough to live in by addressing the fact that this area is safer
and quiet peaceful to live in. As the adults over the age 65 are facing the mental health issues
therefore, the care services are provided and are delivered to their homes in significant manner.
Weaknesses, challenges, strengths and advantages of Hammersmith and Fulham London
Borough are –
Weaknesses – The weakness which the Yee, J. and Dennett, A., 2021Hammersmith and Fulham
London Borough holds is that there are certain mental health issues which the adults over age 65
are suffering from. The mental health problems being faced by Hammersmith and Fulham
London Borough to adults is major (Duncan, Baskin and et.al., 2021). The mental health issues
which the London is facing are – depression, anxiety etc.
Challenges – The challenges which the Hammersmith and Fulham London Borough is facing is
related to the mental health issues which is making the adults over age 65 more isolated and

lonely. This is currently the major challenge which the Hammersmith and Fulham London
Borough is going through.
Strengths – The care services and residents are provided to the adults over age 65 which helps in
providing them the care services at large scale (Ungpakorn, Sehmbi and MacLaine, 2021).
Advantages – The Hammersmith and Fulham London Borough area is positive in its residents
and is framed and build in such manner that there is safety and precaution to the adults over age
65.

which is based on HNA reports is analysed as how specifically the needs and requirements of the
mental health problems are addressed. The determinants of health related states among the adults
over the age of 65 are helps in studying to control the health issues (Pang, Bakhet and et.al.,
2018). It is the detail epidemiology of the determinants which are being addressed to solve the
issues which are related to mental health faced by Hammersmith and Fulham London Borough.
The age group of adults over 65 are suffering from the mental health issues which are
considerably loneliness and isolation. The data from the Borough Councils helps in addressing
the aspects as to how the care services are provided to the adults over age 65 so that they are able
to take care of themselves and are creating valuable life.
Further data can be gathered through the health needs which is collected at large scale. The
public meetings are held within Hammersmith and Fulham London Borough which helps in
supporting the mental health issues in an appropriate manner (Burki, 2019). The health needs are
concerned with the aspects of improving the mental health conditions which are being addressed

are decisions which are undertaken which helps in ensuring that proper care services are

of ethnic groups. 60% of the Borough’s population is white British,20% are white non – British,
8% are Black African with various other ethnicities which are included in the Hammersmith and
Fulham London Borough. The White Irish residents as a percentage which is among the total
population 3.5%. The Hammersmith and Fulham London Borough rank fourth highest in
England which has increased the aspects of growth and development within the Hammersmith
and Fulham London Borough area.
The Standardized Mortality Ratio (SMR) measures whether the population of the area is
high or low which is for Hammersmith and Fulham London Borough. The SMR for deaths from
the cause of mental illness has decreased significantly since 2011. In 2020, the SMR for S&F
was 87 compared to 88 in London (Director and Jolapara, 2018). The disabilities related to
mental health problems are – facing the severe symptoms of not able to communicate effectively
which is observed among the adults over the age 65. The adults are also unable to stay in the
society and among many people as they are habitual of feeling lonely and isolated at all times.
There are certain health needs which are addressed as to how effectively and in appropriate

Hammersmith and Fulham London Borough. Development of age friendly services to the 65 age
adults and over that age. The physical environment is also the major determinant of health which
helps in addressing and creating value for knowing that mental illness and health issue can be
solved by taking into concern the major perspectives of improvement in health services at large
scale (Jones, 2018). The risk factors which are studied in HNA are – Status of the patient,
cognitive ability of the adults having the mental health problem, learning disabilities and gender
issues at large scale. These have an impact in the Health assessment process. It is expressed
among the adults for providing them the care services which helps them resolve the mental
health issues and problems. This is addressed among the demographics of how the adults over
the age of 65 are facing the impact of mental health issue which is making them more vulnerable
toward the loneliness and isolated being addressed in the local authority.
The current interventions (current healthcare service provision)
The current healthcare provision in relation to the target health needs and population in the
local authority helps in addressing that how effectively the mental health care provisions are

taken into consideration for improving the health issue. The current healthcare provisions
regarding the health needs are –
Mental Health Act (1983) helps in addressing the assessment and treatment and rights of
people with the mental health disorder. The act recognises right to community living, right to
relevant information regarding the treatment which is being undertaken by the adults over age 65
facing the mental health issue at large scale within Hammersmith and Fulham London Borough
(Bucci, Schwannauer and Berry, 2019). The mental health services provided to adults over the
age 65 are – medication, recreational therapies, individual counselling which helps in providing
proper treatment to the adults and ensuring that effectively care is provided to them. The services
are delivered to adults at the care homes and at their doorsteps whenever they are in need.
The level of service utilization among the adults over age 65 is through treatment and

There are certain issues of equity and health inequalities which are addressed within the
Borough are – poor housing, poverty, poor conditions of working within Borough. There are
racial and economic segregation which is addressed within the equity issues in Borough. Further,
the influence of healthcare system on the delivery and utilization of healthcare services within
the Hammersmith and Fulham London Borough are major concern for the mental health of the
adults over the age of 65 (Sachs, Schmidt-Traub and et.al., 2019). The prevalence of mental
health conditions differs by the sex, age, race, ethnicity and other factors. The influence of
healthcare system on utilization of healthcare services helps in knowing the different measures of
how the care services are provided to adults over the age 65. The six blocks of healthcare system
are analysed and explained as –

Governance and Leadership – With the help of good leadership and governance, the strategic

Future local priorities for service provision and utilization
There are certain needs which are to be done in future in order to meet the population health
needs which are addressed as how the mental health care services are provided to the adults over
the age of 65. It is very important that there should be development of an action plan which is
required to analyse and identify the aspect of mental health issue of Hammersmith and Fulham
London Borough are facing. Certain strategies should be framed regarding the aspects of mental
health issues so that the care is being provided to the people facing this issue (Schleider, Dobias
and et.al., 2020).
There are certain clear priorities for the future service provision and utilization regarding the
mental health issue being faced by adults over the age of 65. There should be optimal
configuration which are carried for the health systems, the role of primary care should be paid
attention and framed within the healthcare system, concentration of specialist services, role of
hospitals and community services should be created and known for keeping the aspects of
improvement in the mental healthcare system and structure for Hammersmith and Fulham
London Borough. The local area priorities which should be considered for the CCG, service

commissioners and Borough Council should agree upon in relation to health needs are that the
services of home care should be made available to the mental health people who are suffering
majorly from being isolated and lonely (Srivatsa and Stewart, 2020).
Implementation and strategy which is in relation to challenges of service provision and
utilization in an effective manner is addressed as – by considering and adjusting the staff
schedules which helps in supporting the healthcare personnel will help in removing the challenge
of staff shortages within the healthcare system. And along with this, there are certain services
which are made available for ensuring the services are delivered in the proper manner.
Specific mental health challenges of the target group are — loneliness, depression and
anxiety faced by 65 age group adults.
Challenges that can be seen in the treatment of the mental health issue which are -
There can be the various types of challenges that can be seen in the treatment of the
mental health issue in the adults of the Hammersmith and Fulham area of London that are over
the age of 65. Funding-This can be one of the main challenge that can be faced by the patients when
there is no funding that can help in having the effectiveness of treatment (Hossain, and
et.al., 2020). Resources- The lack of proper resources that is required for the effective cure of mental
health can be a challenge which can result into making the situation even worse. Service capacity- The capacity of the services that is given to the patients can be a
challenge when the service provider is not able to effective provide the services because
there is lack of capacity.
 Issues in service utilisation- The ineffective utilisation of the services can be a challenge
when the patient is unable to effectively utilize the services provided to them can make
the mental health issue even worse (O’Rourke, Wrigley and Hammond, 2018).
Recommendations -
After looking at the challenges there can be the various recommendations that can be
given for the effective treatment of the mental health issue that can be seen in the adults of
Hammersmith and Fulham area that are over the age of 65. Different sources of funding- The collection of funding from different sources such as
loan and donations can help in overcoming the challenges of ineffective funding.

 Gathering resources- Gathering sources from the surrounding can solve the problem of
lack of resources. Improving the service quality- Improving the service quality and proper supply of
services can provide the effectiveness in the treatment of mental health issue.
 Proper utilisation of services- The proper utilisation of services will be able to provide
the effectiveness and better treatment to the patient of the mental health
issue.
CONCLUSION
Thus, it can be concluded that the public health issue of mental health can be considered
as one of the main issue in the adults of Hammersmith and Fulham area of London that falls in
the age group of over 65. The problem of mental health issue is one of the major problem that
can affect the overall health of an adult. The various intervention such as the medication and the
recreational therapies are available as the current interventions for the issue of mental health. The
various challenges such as the ineffective utilisation of the services and lack of proper resources
are the current challenges that can be faced by the patients of the mental health issue.
