After going through the nutrition and old age topic, I would like to give my view on
this matter. At an old age, people will not have enough energy, which can lead to several serious
problems. This is generally due to the lack of nutrition and food. After the age of 65, most people
reduce their diet, which can lead to various chronic diseases. The function of the body parts will
slowly decrease and the mass of the body will reduce. There will be physical changes at old age,
such as Visual function deteriorates in which the people cannot be able to see the long distance.
Heart and kidney function becomes less effective. Sometimes the old people will also face the
problems relating to the hearing, taste, and smell. Old age people will also have the poor immune
system it is due to not having proper nutrition. It is certain that when people grow old then they
are more likely to have psychological problems. Some people will also face the problem of
ageing anorexia, in which they are mentally disturbed about their age, as they do not want to get
old. The major problem faced by the old age group is to change the eating habits, as the digestive
system will also get weak at this age. Reviewing this topic, I came to know the nutritional
requirements for the old age people. They need a variety of nutrients as the physical changes of
the body undergo after the age of 50. It is very difficult to maintain physical health thus it takes
many recommendations and nutrients to stay fit like younger people. After the age of 65, it is
essential to boost the intake of daily protein and the requirements of the vitamin are necessary
after the age of 55. To verify and identify the nutrition of the old age, a new nutrition screening
initiative was developed to check certain nutritional risks. After ageing, several diseases can
develop such as Osteoporosis, Arthritis, Hypertension, Heart disease and Diabetes.

A drug is any substance that is taken to change the functions of the body either physically
and psychologically. It may be legal or illegal. It is also defined as any chemical which is used to
prevent or treat disease. There are various stages of drug action; it is the Pharmaceutical stage,
Pharmacokinetic stage, and Pharmacodynamic stage. The drug-nutrient interaction is the result
of taking the drugs and nutrients together. This interaction also affects the medication of the
people. There are several situations in which the interaction between the drug and nutrients takes
place. The risk which can occur by consuming the drugs and nutrients together are the multiple
medications, eating disorder, alcoholism, and addiction to drugs. This can be harmful to the

human body and can cause several other diseases. People with an addiction to drugs have to face
health issues, and they will be psychologically disturbed. Absorption of the drug and nutrients
together can decrease the appetite and it also increases the habits of consuming drugs. It can
cause alters gastric acidity as consumption of drug-nutrient can affect the digestive system. It
increases the urinary loss of nutrients and the intake of low sodium causes the kidney to retain
lithium. Consumption of drugs causes induce nausea and make their body lethargic if they do not

By studying the following topic, I have come to know that water is a very important
chemical that is required in the human body. It helps the body in the biochemical reactions that
keep the organs running efficiently. It is very important as it delivers the necessary nutrients to
form the tissues. It is very important to maintain body temperature and also maintains blood
pressure and helps tissue perfusion.
I have come to learn that there are two forms of hydration that is hypohydration and
hyperhydration. The body should be in the state of hydration to become normal. Hypohydration
can cause the disorder in the clinically and physiological order. Hypohydration can cause an
increase in GI distress, heart rate and glycogen, which can cause the death of the victim.
Hyperhydration will also cause disorder in the clinically and physiological order but this is rare.
It will cause the victim a low plasma electrolyte and can create confusion and delirium, which
will ultimately lead to death.
I also have come to know about the different types of changes that can happen in the
body in case of water loss. Change in the visual, change in body mass, the concentration of
plasma components, urine production and colour, salivary flow rate and thirst rate are the
changes that can be seen in the person suffering from dehydration.
This topic also shows how the body maintains water balance in the body during exercise.
By producing water metabolic and producing sweat to balance electrolyte. Blood flow decrease
to kidneys decreases to avoid dehydration. So there it is important to replace the fluid lost during
any exercise. By drinking water frequently but should not exceed the limit, which can cause
confusion, disorientation, and seizures. Alcohol must be avoided during the hydration and
human body and can cause several other diseases. People with an addiction to drugs have to face

caffeine can be taken but depending on the dosage. I came to know about the importance of
water in the survival of human beings. I also came to learn about the various indications and
precautions that are needed to be taken during the dehydration process.
3551426_1755138305_FoodProduction31.ppt
Under this top, I came to learn about the world population and the availability of food.
There are around 1billion people who are malnourished due to poverty. Each year around 6
million children die due to malnutrition and around $ 30 billion are required to eradicate the
poverty and malnutrition from the world. The population increases in the geometrical ratio while
the resources increase at arithmetical ration, which causes the deficit of resources in the world.
I also came to know about the Malthusian theory whereas the time passes on the
population exceed the resources available. Due to technological advancement, there will be an
increase in the output of the resource but cannot meet actual demand. The population has to
remain constant to remain the balance between the resource and population.
Another is the demographic theory, which shows the different stages the country has to
pass. The first stage shows the high date and birth rate, the second rate shows high birth rate and
low death rate, the third stage is the rate where death and birth rate meets its point of equilibrium
and the last stage is marked by the high death rate and low birth rate. To cope with the growing
population the available resources have to be doubled.
The green revolution brought dramatic changes in the resource output. Norman Borlaug
was known as the “Father of Green Revolution”. It helped the Mexican and South Asia to
overcome depression. Wheat production increased in India dramatically in the late 70s of the
twentieth century. It also led to the creation of agriculture research centres in different parts of
the world. The productivity of the region can decrease due to various factors such as soil
exhaustion and erosion. The use of pesticides and insecticides can decrease soil productivity
along with climate changes. The poor yield of the crops can also lead to the under nutrition foods
which can cause the different diseases in the human body especially in the children’s which can
cause diarrhoea and pneumonia ultimately leading to deaths.

By studying the given topic I have come to understand that eating too much of non-
nutrition food is very bad for human health, which will lead to many diseases in the near future.
If we take non-nutritive foods, in limit than it will be harmless and provides some sort of energy
that the human body needs. There are many non-nutritive substances, which are intentionally
added in the foods and many non-nutritive substances are present in the food unintentionally.
Some of the companies and factories intentionally add non-nutritive substances in the
food like preservatives to preserve their products for a longer period. It contains sweeteners,
colors and flavors, and processing acids, which can be harmful to those who eat that food on a
regular basis. Some non-nutritive substances, which are added, can be very harmless and are
approved by the government. Those non-nutritive substances are mostly found in packaged food
products.
There are some of the non-nutritive substances in foods, which are unintentionally
present in the food. Some of the non-nutritive substance are very harmful to the human body, is
heavy metals chemicals like mercury, cadmium, and leads which occurs naturally in soil and
water due to the pollution from farming industries using pesticides and other chemicals to grow
their crops.
There are some substances, which are present in the food naturally and could harm
human health seriously if consumed by the human though it is rear to occur those substances it
not impossible mostly those substances are present in the vegetables. Many underdeveloped
countries eat cassava as their regular food, which is harmful as it contains cyanide, which is one
of the most dangerous chemicals for human health consuming cyanide-containing food that
could stop the heart from functioning. The people who consume cabbage, sprouts, radish on a
regular basis it could affect their thyroid function as those vegetables contain glycosides not only
the thyroid will be affected but glycosides poisoning could also lead to blurry vision, vomiting,
and Cardiac attack.
I would like to conclude by informing that people should try to avoid consuming the
foods, which contains non-nutritive substances, as it could be very harmful to their health and
people should start to eat as much as organic foods so that they all can live a healthy life.

By studying the given following topic, it shows that a balanced diet is primarily for the
CNS (Central Nervous System) to function properly. The CNS controls most of the functions of
body and mind and it is the most essential part of the human body. The CNS cannot recover
itself after injuring it they cannot new cells so it is very important for humans to protect their
CNS. If the CNS is damaged then, the human cannot function their own body and mind properly.
It is very important for the CNS to get proper nutrients, which are required for them to function
in a normal way.
Carbohydrate is essential for every human diet because it gives us the energy to work. It
is the most common form of energy that every human consumes it is very important to consume
carbohydrates in a diet. Carbohydrates can be stored as fat in the human body which helps them
work for a longer period giving them energy. It is very important to consume balanced
carbohydrate for the CNS to function properly as it provides glucose to the human body and it is
very important for CNS to have glucose because it defends the blood vessels from getting
damaged as it carries all the information from one part to another part of the human body.
Consuming too many carbohydrates as it means that you are also consuming a high amount of
calories and a high rate of glucose may affect the CNS from functioning properly.
It is also very important to consume fats in a balanced diet, as it is first to provide energy
to the human body if fats are taken in a right amount than the human body will be much healthier
DHA or Docosahexaenoic acid is a fatty acid, which plays a very vital role in the human brain.
The human body cannot produce enough of DHA acid so it is essential to obtain that fatty acid
from your diet. Fish, which contain a high amount of fats, are the best source to obtain DHA
eggs also contains a small amount of DHA.
People should also consume right amount of proteins, caffeine, and serotonin in their diet
for the CNS to function properly and live a healthy life.

meat, poultry, and fish. Different people can define vegetarians in various ways. There are
different types of vegetarian such as Demi the one who consumes the meat occasionally.
Pescatarian is the one who consumes fish and kinds of seafood. Lacto-Ovo is the one who does
not eat eggs but consumes dairy products. Lastly, the vegan does not consume any meat or
animal products. I came to know that the vegetarian society was founded in 1847 and it grew
stronger and stronger as time passed by. In 1991, they introduce national vegetarian week from
19th may until May 25. The vegan society provides information and guidance about a
nutritionally balanced diet. The world Vegan day is on 1 November. People are motivated to
becoming a vegetarian due to various reasons, such as religion and culture, moral and ethical,
health and other environmental concerns. In religion and culture, different religions have
different believes, just as in Jainism, it is mandatory to practice vegetarianism. In moral and

advantages for having a vegan diet because they have high carbohydrates, low in saturated fat
and there are vitamins in fruits and vegetables. Being a vegetarian has many health benefits just
like low blood pressure, low chances of having heart disease, it avoids constipation and
gallstones and some diet-related cancers. There are two types of nutrients consumed by the
