INTRODUCTION
As per World Health Organisation (2019), it
is important for the nursing professionals to
understand their roles and responsibilities
towards the healthcare system, institutes
and patients as their broad participation is
important for development of effective and
quality healthcare. This brochure has been
developed to outline the role of nursing
professionals and their understanding about
the healthcare policy and patient advocacy
that would help to shape the future of
healthcare process (Buchan et al., 2015).
Health Policy and Advocacy should
be considered their professional
and moral obligation.
As per American Nursing Association (2019),
while working in healthcare orgnaisations,
nursing professionals can influence the
policy development and modify standards so
that effective and quality healthcare could
be provided to the patients. Further, they
could influence the allocation of resources
and through their unique and specific care,
patients and their rights are protected.
Health policy are action plans and
decisions that has been
implemented to help the healthcare
system to achieve a specific goal.

be said that majority of the patient that are
unable to understand the healthcare process
