The strategies that will be employed in a community before starting the health program in
a community:
Identification of the societal issues (access to the quality healthcare) that
potentially contribute to the development of interventions and disparities in
addressing the societal issues.

For this question, the state of South Carolina is considered. The health issue chosen for
this for the policy cycle is the sexually transmitted diseases. It is important to mention that
citizens of South Carolina are largely affected from the sexually transmitted diseases. Thus the
policy that will be framed will greatly impact the sexual health of the residents of South
Carolina. The policy cycle will be consisting of the 5 major steps. The first step will be agenda
setting and in this step, attention will be focussed on a public health problem like sexually
transmitted diseases. Public health program will be undertaken to reduce the incidence of this
health issue. In the second step, policy formation will include the framing of a policy of public
health program. This step will also be including the strategies of designing the public health
program based on sexually transmitted diseases. The policy adoption is the third step and the
policy designed will be adopted so that the policy solution can be framed and applied as a
legislation. The fourth step will be implementation of policy as the policy will be effectively
implemented by the different healthcare organizations and governmental healthcare agencies.
The fifth step is the policy evaluation and the analysis of the policy over a period of time so that
the changes can be brought into the policy and the effectiveness of the policy can be increased.
