Different procedures to reduce the
consumption of alcohol
What is health promotion?
The health promotion activity is the activity of
creating awareness among people in order to
take control the health conditions and improve
their health. The health promotion activity is
done by taking into consideration the routine
that the patient is following or the lifestyle that
the patient is leading. There are mainly four
areas which people mostly consider at the
prevention of different diseases, any kind of
injury and illness or any kind of development
of health or the development of parenting
skills and providing of proper support which
develops the confidence of the patient
(Abioye et al. 2015).
Write everything about not to drink – Prepare a list which includes the
reasons for not to smoke any more. The patient is suffering from
mental illness, so she should write down the main reason is her
mental illness. She has left taking medicines because of excessive
drinking.
Taking the medicines properly on time- It must be kept in mind that the
patient is not missing any of her medicines. Skipping of medicines
may also turn the patient far more vulgar and she will behave more
aggressive (Kelly et al. 2016).
Setting a drinking goal- The patient must maintain a routine which
should keep record of the days when the patient use to drink in a week
and the days on which she do not drink.
Never keep alcohol in the house- The patient and the family members
must make sure that no alcohol is present in the house (Murray et al.
2016).
Properly watching the peer pressure- The patient should practice
different ways so that she can say no to friends or the family members
if any of them come and approach for drinking. A person should not
drink as other people are also drinking. I person must drink after
considering the health conditions (Kim, Park and Kang 2015).
Keeping busy with other works- The patient must keep herself busy
with other works so that the thoughts of drinking do not come in her
minds any more. The patient must keep herself in other works like
walking, playing sports, watching a movie. The family members must
also look after this matter that most of the time the patient is busy in
doing other household works (Ekelund et al. 2016).
Asking for proper support- The patient needs proper support in order
to become healthy and lead a happy life. If a patient gets proper
support from the family members, doctors and nurses then, the patient
will no doubt think about drinking any more. The company of the family
members will surely keep the patient busy in other works. If needed
the family members can ask for counselling at least once so that the
patient may not think of the idea of drinking any more.
Guarding against the temptation of drinking- The patient should not be
with the company of those persons who are always in the mood to
drink. When a person is lonely or in a mad mood, there is a tendency
for the person to drink. So the person should never be alone in her
house, at least one other member should be there along with the
patient (Kwan et al. 2016).
