b. The national statistics published in the report of American Diabetes Association (2019), mentioned that the rate of diabetes
prevalence in African-American population is twice the rate of white Americans. Hence, this promotional program should reach to
them. Another rational for designing a health educational campaign for African American group is that this group suffer from greater
disparities in diabetes outcome because of poor perceptions and knowledge about diabetes. A study by Spears, Guidry and Harvey
(2017) investigating about type 2 diabetes knowledge among middle class African Americans revealed lack of knowledge about all
risk factors of diabetes among African Americans. They had different perception about weight and its impact on health and diabetes.
Hence, high gap in perceived susceptibility about diabetes is the main reason behind developing an educational campaign for the
group. This campaign will provide the opportunity to learn about risk factors of diabetes, get idea about level of diabetes prevalence in
African Americans and learn simple steps to get control over diabetes.
c. This program is the first level of prevention program as it provides the population with a factual idea that they are at risk and they
should implement effective changes in their lifestyle to overcome it. As per Domitrovich et al. (2017), the first level of the prevention
program helps the patient to aware of their critical health complication and they would be able to be influenced about their health
complication and would be prepared to take effective steps about their health care. The campaign gives simple message to make the

target audience aware about possible risk factors present in their life and the preventive measures that they can take to control
progression of diabetes. By giving idea about recommended level of physical activity per day and the diets they must consume, the
risk group is likely to take precautionary steps to improve their overall health. Empowering the group by means of education is the
main goal of the health promotion program.
d. This message would help them to be aware of their risk factor and they would be able to implement the changes mentioned in the
flyer in their lifestyle.
e. The patient would be educated about the risk factors and preventive measures of the diabetes. While educating them , the
knowledge of biology of the disease would help nursing and healthcare professionals to share the details minutely so that effective and
quality care could be provided with health promotional program (Kramer et al., 2015).
