The world observes 4th March as World Obesity Day but World Obesity Awareness
Week is organized in January every year. The goal of this campaign was to promote health by
spreading awareness amongst people regarding the ill effects of obesity within borough of
Hillingdon. This campaign aims at making people conscious about the lifestyle they choose for
themselves and the effects of that lifestyle that they would have to face in the long run for the
people of borough of Hillingdon (McKay,and et.al.,2018).
Various program was conducted throughout the 7 days’ span of the campaign. All the
programs circled round the facts related to obesity. The focus of the campaign was to reach to as
many people as possible within people of borough. All the attendees were told about the facts
regarding the statistics of people suffering from obesity and what all contributed to getting them
into the category of obese. The people were told about the difficulties that the obese people have
to face in their daily lives in borough of Hillingdon.
The approaches used by the campaign for health promotion and protection were walking 1
mile and creating awareness about the campaign through using social media.
The campaign enlightened the people about how 50% of the diseases are directly and
indirectly resulted by the excessive weight that the person has put on pertaining to his unhealthy
lifestyle within borough. The programs focused on making people to start following a healthy
lifestyle by including physical activities in it. People were about the importance of tracking the
calories and nutritive intake every day because weight cannot be lost in a healthy way by just
dropping the number of calories. The campaign also included programs to impart knowledge on
the nutritive value of different foods and its components.
