INTRODUCTION:
Health promotion refers to the process of empowering and encouraging people for
enhancing their control on their health and wellness determinants through adopting a healthy
life style. It focus on empowering people to increase health literacy efforts as well as
improved multi-sectional action from promoting the healthy behaviours. The report will aim
to describe public health policy process, stakeholders, determinants of national health and
health promotion campaigns as well as its effectiveness.
Task-1
Process for developing a public health policy
According to Van den Broucke (2020), Public health policy refers to the legislation, laws,
decisions and actions which are implemented in the society for promoting the wellness as
well as ensure how those particular gaols are attained. The process of developing a public
health policy involves following stages:
The first step is to describe the problem. It involves understanding the causes, impact,
potential solutions and potential sources to eliminate problems as well.
The next step is to assess readiness for policy development. It involves if the
community is ready for the policy and will support the process.
The next step involves development of policy goals, options and objectives.
The decision makers and influencers i.e. key shareholders are identified.
Then the support for policy is built through channels and vehicles to persuade
decisions makers (World Health Organization, 2017).
The logistics and legal details are defined to draft or revise the policy.
The policy is implemented ensuring all pre-requisites are in place.
In the last step the policy is evaluated and monitored.
Potential groups who can influence public health policy
There are various stakeholders in public health policy. The potential groups who can
influence the public health policy involves following:
National groups- National Institute for health and Care Excellence (NICE), National
Health Services (NHS) (Jones, 2019)

How the government monitors the health of the nation.
Monitoring of health of the public is an ongoing process involving collection,
interpretation and analysis of data which is closely integrated to the timely dissemination to
the people responsible for prevention and control of those diseases (Hubley, Copeman and
Woodall, 2021). For this Public Health Surveillance tool is used estimate the behaviours and
health status of the population directly. So it can be used for measuring needs for intervention
and effect of these interventions by government.
Task-2
The factors affecting health across the nation
There are various factors which affect the health of a nation. Some of the
determinants can directly be under the control such as where people live or grow or go to
work, but some can be uncontrollable. Some of these factors involve housing, financial
security of people, patterns of consumption, the safety of community, employment,
environment and education of the population (US Department of Health and Human Services,
2018). Other factors can involve random events such as plague or COVID-19, the behaviours
of population, quality of relationships between people and heredity factors of individuals. The
everyday decisions made by population also affect the health of nation.
Potential benefits of improving health across the nation
The health of the nation is the most important asset of for the country and its
government. It can provide various benefits to the society, community and government as
well. The major benefit is that it creates value for the society and community (Aung and
et.al., 2020). Another benefit is that it allows the people to participate in their family lives, in
the workplace as well as the community. Improving health across the nation can also help in
creating the thriving communities and economies in a country. It also creates a value for the
country on a global level.

Health promotion focus on life-improving behaviours which might include eating
proper diet, stress management, avoiding risk behaviours, regular exercise and having a goal
in life can influence an individual to adopt healthy lifestyles (Huang, 2018).
Evaluate two models commonly used in health promotion.
Health promotion is the process which enables people to improve their health as well as
enhances their control over their health as well. There are various models which can be used
in health promotion. They are explained as follows:
Behavioural change model: The behavioural change model refers to the preventive
approach which focus on the lifestyle behaviours of individuals to promote health. It
encourages individuals to adopt healthy lifestyle behaviours as well take
responsibility of their own health (Ference and et.al., 2018).
Self-empowerment model: This model focus on developing the individual’s abilities
to control their health status within their environment through enhancement of
personal identity and self-worth.
Approaches commonly used to increase public awareness.
To promote health and wellness on a national level is a tasks which can be done
through various approaches. The commonly used approaches to raise awareness involves
educational approach, medical approach, client centred approach, societal change approach
and behavioural change approach (Schillinger, Chittamuru and Ramírez, 2020). Every
approach is different and uses different kinds of activities to increase public awareness on
health promotion.
Task-4
Health promotion event and analyse its effectiveness.
A health promotion event can be developed for health promotion. The event is “better
heart better health”. The event will focus on promoting the importance of management of
heart disease and stress management (Nutbeam, 2019). The event will be effective as it make
the public aware about the importance of management of heart diseases as well as the
management of stress in life as general.

Health promotion material for a target audience
Some of the materials which can be used for the health promotion event can be as
follows:
Fact sheets: The printable fact sheets related to event of health promotion.
Posters: The printable posters which describe the importance of stress management
and heart diseases
Presentations: Slideshow presentations related to the event.
Social media campaigns: Creating electronic greeting cards, buttons and campaigns.
Videos: Creating videos such as YouTube videos and short videos.
Deliver a small health promotion campaign
A small campaign can be “manage heart, stress and live better life”.
The campaign will be promoted through social media which will target the younger segment
of customers (Corbin and et.al., 2021).
Effects of the campaign
The effects of the campaign can include raising awareness in the public to manage
stress and improve their lifestyles. All these leads to improved health. The campaign will help
in analysing the awareness in public associated with heart related diseases. The campaign will
allow the public to know how they can access the healthcare services.
Real health promotion campaign- The heart truth, 2002
The campaign was created by National heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI). It is a
national health education program which was the first federally sponsored program intended
to raise awareness regarding heart disease as the major reason of death in women (The heart
truth). It have established Healthy Hearts Network which research in local communities
through collaborating with community professionals on heart education initiative. It uses red
color as the symbol for women and heart disease.
