INTRODUCTION
Health promotion is the method through which the people are enabled to manage the
health related issues. To maintain the healthy life style, controlling over the issues and improving
them in various ways. It basically considers the social and environmental interventions of the
individual. The scenario here present the health related issues of two people Sarah and Peter.
Now a days the health problems of the people are growing in the increasing rates (Chou and
et.al., 2013). It has become very important for the government of the nation to educate and create
the awareness to every people of the society about the diseases that are spreading all around due
to the carelessness of the people. Therefore various health promotional acts has been carried out
to create the awareness.
TASK1
Essay
Health is the state of being complete fit in terms of mental, physical and in social. The
absence of the diseases is said to be as a health. The health is basically a situation of a person
where whole part of the body is in perfect working stage. A dynamic conditions where body
adjusts and adapt itself according to the external factors. Health promotion is the process which
involves the various things to protect and prevent the individual from the diseases. It provides
many remedies for the problems related to the health. It helps the society to control and improve
over the issues related to the health and promotes to be healthy. There are different strategies that
has been used for the promotion of the health.
It is very necessary for the individuals to take good care of their own self on the regular
basis. The behaviours and the daily routine has to be changed by the people so as to attain the
objective in terms of the good health (Eldredge and et.al., 2016). It is not an action only a single
person or the Peter ans Sarah have to do, it is to be done by every person to be in a healthy state.
The scenario here tells about the bad health condition of both husband and wife Sarah and Peter.
Sarah is facing depression and Peter is recently shifted in a home care due to the two type of
diabetes and also because of his poor condition he had an amputation of his leg. This has made
the living very problematic and he was the only earning source for the family now they are
facing many social and economical issues.

Social economic factors plays a very important role in the health of the people of the
society. The circumstances of poor social and economical conditions of the individual always
affect the life of them. Due to this they get affected by the various diseases and illness which
may result in the loss of the life even. These circumstances can cause the adverse effect on the
health of the people as it may lead to the stress and the state of depression (Golden and Earp.,
2012). Basically the socio economic is the term which defines the several factors of the person's
living such as the income, education and the occupation. With the difference in the socio
economical factors of the person the access of the medical care, physical activity opportunity and
the healthy food are also different. Peter and Sarah both faces the issue of the discrepancies in
the services that were availed due to the poor economical condition of the family. There are
some factors that can be seen as the socio economical factors-
Lack in the physical experiences.
Lack of the knowledge related to the obesity that was suffered by both of them.
High sugar consumption.
Lifestyle
Prices of food.
There are many sources that the government has structured so as to prepare the report
related to the inequalities in the health care services of the organisation to the customers. HALS-
(The health ans lifestyle survey) is the survey that has been conducted by the Nations Health
service in United Kingdom. The survey is conducted as to know the inequalities that the public
faces in the service of the health care home according to their state of economic aspects. The data
are collected on the basis of the health conditions, the physical health, social care, lifestyle
behaviour and the mental health of the population. The inequalities in the services are found in
the NHS. The report had specified all the detailed things related to the services of different health
care homes. The research has also identified the situations that has been faced by many people
similar to Peter and Sarah (Knapp, McDaid and Parsonage., 2011). After all the findings has
been done, 39 policies has been suggested in the different operational aspects of the health care
homes like the taxation agriculture and the health services so that the differences can be reduced.
Peter and Sarah had faces basically the barriers related to the money and the care. The
condition of them were not as good because the only source of the income in the family was
Peter and due to the health problem and amputation he is also not able to earn as much he could

in earlier time and his wife is also not earning because of the depression state therefore the
money was the major problem that they faced the most. This has also impacted on the health care
services that the they were not able to afford the high rates hence according to the paying
capacity both got the services by health care homes.
TASK2
Essay
As both Peter and Sarah are involved in the drinking as well as smoking habits the
government has made many strategies to reduce the habits of the people like them. With the help
of the different health models the government had made the strategies to overcome and reduce
the rate of smokers and alcohol drinkers (KoKorda and Itani., 2013). There is one of the strategy
that the government has introduced to ban the smoking of the people in the society that is the
Caplan and Holland health model. This model consist of four aspects, the traditional, humanist,
radical humanistic and radical structure. This is the strategy that is related to the legislation. The
strategies in this are related to identify the radical structural perspectives.
Beattie health model is used for the ban of public smoking of the people in the nation. This also
has four approaches they are- professional, legislative actions, personal counselling and the
community development. According to the Beattie model the strategy can be identified as the
sub part of the law.
There has been organised the smoke free campaign which has been focused on providing the
informations related to the health care to all the members of the society and the nation. The
people get the knowledge about the adverse effect of the smoking. The government has
promoted many strategies that can save the life of the people. The situation is just opposite at
many places that the people is very much aware of the effects of smoking though they as an
entertainment and thrill use to smoke.
The health care professionals has a very important role in the fulfilment and the meeting
of the government targets related to the health promotion act (Lewis., 2015). The dentists,
nutritionists, health advisors, practice nurses, dieticians and the other specialist doctors are the
health care professionals. When the government has introduced many strategies related to the
health cares then the major roles that lies is onto these professionals of the society. They are the
one who have to carry out the strategies in an effective manner to safe guard the life of the

people from many such problems of health. As per the scenario is considered the smoking and
the drinking are the bad habits that Peter and Sarah has. So it is the duty and whole soul
responsible for the creating awareness and to implement the certain medication technologies that
can help both to reduce it.
The doctors and the professionals must guide the customers and suggest them certain
things that can help the people like them to overcome the current circumstance of the bad habit.
The officer of smoking cessation of the particular area is responsible for the implementation and
the execution of the national smoke prevention programs in the area where the officers is posted
(Lupton., 2012). The officer also has to organise the campaign of the health care and they have to
consider that all the regulations and the rules are to be followed and also the people are to be
approached for the organised campaign.
The professionals and the health care surveys are also having the responsibilities to the
designed programs. The survey study will help the NHS to know about the rate of the smokers in
the society. Then according to the reports the corrective and the supportive actions can be taken.
The health care advisors and the doctors have all the related information and the knowledge
which can help them to conduct the education programs related to the health issues. As to attain
the objectives and the aims of the health promotion and the government strategies the role of
these experts and the professional is very important.
The NHS officers also plays a vital role in the attainment of the strategy's introduced by
the government of the nation to reduce the rates of the smokers. They are responsible for making
the designs of the programs related to the prevention of the smoking, as well as they are having
thee role to allocate the funds that are required in the execution of the plans.
The life style of the person also affect them in the health. The routine that one follows has
to be changed if is has the smoking habit in the structured plan. The smoking cessations helps in
the promoting of the healthy lifestyles and a better daily routine activities (.Mhurchu, Aston and
Jebb., 2010). The pattern of sleeping, hours of working, food consumption and the ways of the
spending the leisure time are the daily routine activities of the person, which can the the factors
that impact the living and the health of them. The couple both Peter and Sarah are suffering from
obesity, it is due to the life style and the eating manner which they adopt. As more the high
calorie foods which has the sugar and the salt content in the higher ratio are consumed by the
people, the fat get produced in the body which in result be called as the obesity. It is very
Document Page
necessary for the people like these couples to change the consumption manner of the food. They
should consult with the doctors so that they can get proper guidance as to help them self from
preventing by the health issues. When these people are guided and the proper manner regarding
the schedules that they have to follow to prevent them self from the adverse effect of the
smoking then definitely the health issues can be reduced (Nutbeam, Harris and Wise., 2010).
They should continuously get the awareness of the negative impact of the smoking can help them
to stay away from such things.
TASK3
3.1) Health beliefs relates to the theories of health behaviour.
To describe the health beliefs among the society the health behaviour can be used. The
smoking is the concern that we are focusing according to this scenario of Peter ans Sarah.
Among the people of the society the health belief can be found. Basically it is a model which
defines the explanation and the anticipation of behaviours related to the health in regards of the
health services which have to be taken by the people. As per this model it is been studied and
understand that the health belief of the people are founded on the central influence that exist.
The people are aware of the smoking as well as the impact of it on the health but their aims are
not lined up with the reference to the smoking. Hence the smoking is the act that has become the
routine activity in the life and which has a negative impact on the health if the people.
There is a theory called reasoned theory which can be understand as the health model. On
the basis of this model the people use to follow some of the practices with or without the consent
and intention as well as with or with out knowing its impact of the situation. Such as the person
start avoiding the habit of smoking as because he saw the impact of it. He has experienced the
affect that it causes. Therefore due to the result the seen by the person the decisions and the
habits get changed (Richard, Gauvin and Raine., 2011).
There is a change model which help one to understand the fact that the individual can not
change their routine habits as they if want to change will take time. The change can be adopted
slowly. The instant change is not at all possible for the person to carry out. As because the
behaviour patterns are very different according to the life style and the culture. Hence the person
has to do and perform series of the actions to inculcate the change within himself. It is also
understood that if any one tries to adopt the changes then the belief of the particular aspects are

also get changed accordingly. Peter ans Sarah, both does not think that the act of smoking is not
bad for the health but when the changes are implemented then their belief to the smoking will
change as they come to know the impact and the required medications (Weare and Nind., 2011).
3.2)Possible effects of the potential conflicts with the local industry on the health promotion.
There are many situations where the conflict can get arise when the health promotional
act is been carried out in the society. The organisations and the local industries dealing in these
products that are harming the health of the people get affected by these campaigns. The actions
that the government has implemented like ban of the smoking, drinking the alcohols and using
the products of the tobacco can be very helpful for the one who smokes and also for those who
will go for such activities.
Thinking and taking this action in a positive manner the life of many people can be
saved. At the same time the local industries who are producing these products and are dealing
and running the business on its basis definitely will get affected. They generate the income from
these sources but due to the ban and the laws that are defending the people to use such products
are hampering the operations of the firms (Knapp, McDaid and Parsonage., 2011). The
organisation's revenue generation also get reduced in the large ratio.
According to the survey it is been found that the the organisations dealing in tobacco and
alcohols are paying huge amounts to the government as tax. 8-10 billion pounds are the amount
that is paid by the industries. The government uses those amount on the development of the
Document Page
nation and the health care services for the patients. So there is the problem of the revenue
generation that can affect the government as well. The government will not be able to get this
huge amount if these industries get banned and locked out. The development that the government
does with these money will get reduced and the infrastructures can also not be improved (Golden
and Earp., 2012).
The interrelationship between the industry, government and the health care sectors are
the major issue which create a situation of the conflict. As due to the whole chain is run by each
other's support. If the whole system get changed then the operations of each three get hampered
and it will directly affect the health and the economy of the society and the nation.
3.3)Importance of providing the health related information to the public.
As we know now a days the health is not a concern to the people as all are indulged in a
busy living style. The people are more focused on the earning and income generation rather than
their health. It is very important for the public to know all the related information of the health
and the benefits that one should avail. The information that is to be conveyed to the people plays
a vital role in the reduction of the risk of the levels of the diseases. It will also promote the
healthy living of the people of the society (Kobau and et.al., 2011). With the shared information
of the health issues to the public the benefit that can be seen as result is that the people will start
sparing the time for themselves and will take care. The responsibility will get increased for their
own self and the several diseases can be prevented by this.
Document Page
The more benefit that the people of the society will be able to get is the control over the
infectious diseases. There are many disease about which the people are not even aware of like
the Ebola and the Influenza. These are the diseases which can be spread through the contact of
the air. As the health promotion will inform about these things then the people will start taking
care of themselves in the better way. The information are also given to them in related to how to
be prevented from these communicable diseases. With the help of the conveyed messages and
the information related to such circumstances can be helpful for the people (Eldredge and et.al.,
2016). It will also help them to be save their life and the expenses that is incurred in the health
care services. It will help to reduce the large number of diseases impacts on the life of the people.
