Culture
Different group of people have differed moral, custom, belief, values etc. Culture can be
defines as systematic knowledge of particular group which is shared by their society members or
large group of people. It is the cultivated behaviour of persons which is learned by experience or
transmitted society (Senthil, Anandh and Kalpana, 2015).
Importance to develop a strong health and safety culture
It is very important to develop health and safety culture in health and social care
setting. Morale enhancement: By developing good culture in the health care organization,
employer will be able to increase morale of medical professionals . By this way they will
be able to perform well and will serve quality services to patients. If a firm is having
motivated staff members then it will be able to accomplish its objective to great extent. Increase communication: By developing positive culture in the workplace care home
will be able to make effective coordination in the organization. Thus, by this way
practitioners will be able to interest well with each other and with patients which is very
important to provide quality services to service user. It will help to identify the actual
situation of patients thus, medical professionals will be able to deliver such treatment
which can improve their health as soon as possible (Gandhi and Pinzani, 2015).
 Building team work: With the help of optimistic culture, belief, employees will be able
to understand each other. Thus, it will develop team building in the workplace. Team
building is very important by this way innovative ideas will be generated by the all
experienced persons and they will be able to serve better to service users significantly in
the care homes (Chetty, 2014).
 Trust: A healthy environment is very important which can be developed by gaining trust
of patients by creating positive culture among staff members. Service users ill be able to
share their illness and problem openly with doctors and medical professionals will be
able to provide them proper care so that they can recover soon (Smits, Wagner and
Groenewegen, 2012).
Ways of developing positive culture in HSC

There are several ways of developing positive health and safety culture in the health care
organization. HSC firms are non profit entities, their main purpose is to provide quality services
to patients. Various ways of creating optimistic workplace health and safety culture : Risk assessment: Graceland day care will be able to develop health and safety positive

and staff members from being suffered from any disease. Impact of promoting this policy in
HSC practices are as following:
 It helps to develop positive health and safety culture in the workplace. By this way
spreading of infectious diseases can be reduced to great extent. So it impacts positively

Hand hygiene policy come under the legislation of The health and Social care Act 2008.
It is the regulation which works to prevent and control over the associated infection (Smits, M.,
Wagner and Groenewegen, 2012). The health act 2006 is another legislation which is related to
hand hygiene policy.

It describes that health care organization must maintain clean and safe environment in the
workplace. It ensures that medical professionals needs to adopt practice of hand washing before
examine the patients. It should be antibacterial hand rub. Care homes needs to encourage people
and society to adopt habit of proper hand wash so that they can be protected from several
infectious diseases (Gandhi and Pinzani, 2015). Medical staff needs to care properly because
infection spread in the hospitals due to transfer micro organism through injections, patients to
patients, from treating equipment etc. Effective hand hygiene policy give guidelines to
practitioners so that they can remove transient of micro organism. By this way they will be able
to reduce cases of infection in the society (Health and Safety Legislation, 2016). The health and
Social care Act 2008 defines the duties of staff, managers, preventing and controlling team and
give them proper training so that they follow hand washing, using gloves practices in the
workplace. Graceland day care needs to follow this legislation strictly so that it can provide

It is duty of medical staff to follow the legislation strictly in the workplace. It is the

know measures of protecting people from infection. Responsibility of expert or seniors doctors
are that to provide timely training o lower practitioners so that they follow he legislation
effectively. They are responsible to monitor their activities and to control over wrongdoing. Duty
of infection prevention and controlling team (IPCT) is to provide necessary resources to
hospitals so that training program can be successful.
Implication of non compliance of legislation
It is very important to follow this legislation strictly in the workplace of health and social
care organization. Implication of non compliance are as below:
 If Graceland does not follow this legislation then, transmission of infection from one to
another patients will be rapidly occurred. Thus, it may harm the health of medical persons
and patients badly.
 Non compliance of hand hygiene police will increase serious disease in care home. By
this way mortality rate will get increased in the hospital. Non compliance will increase
risk of cross contamination to great extent (Lu and Tseng, 2012).

 False nails, improper hand washing, long hair increase the growth bacteria and micro
organism. Which can increase the chances of fungal infection and also it can spread one
to another rapidly in Graceland day care. It is the major implication of non compliance of

improve services of HSC in hand decontamination. It is very important to impliment polices and

secure services to patients and it will be beneficial in reducing the number of infectious patients
in the workplace (Smits, Wagner and Groenewegen, 2012).
It is essential to review, monitor and update hand hygiene policies timely so that lacking
points can be improved. For continuous improvement is the very important to review and
monitor these effectively. Experience from previous policy and procedures will help to analayse
the weakness of system so that authorities will be able to update these timely.
By following several methods hand hygiene policy can be reviewed and monitor
effectively:
Audit: It is the effective technique, Graceland day care can conduct audit annually for reviewing
the performance of the hospital. In this it can examine the number of cases of infectious patients.
It will help to monitor the activities of the care home workers. By this way employer will be able
to prepare plan to improve lacking points (Agwu, 2012).
Review of practices: It is the important document through which manager of health and social
care organization will be able to analyse the drawback of existing process. With the support of
