INTRODUCTION
Occupational health and safety management is a type of process which basically concerned
with principles through which entity’s business activities organised in an effective manner.
However, it is true that in today’s world losses to society from work related accidents and
illness are very large and such losses cannot be in a nature to prevent such type of losses.
Thus, entities must have to target carefully because of scarcity of resources and with limited
investment. The purpose of this report is to articulate the economic analysis in occupational
health for facilitating the identification of level of safety investment which is efficient. In this
report, health program will get developed on Health Appraisal and Wellness Assessment
Programs through the help of government of western Australia in Vimy Resources Ltd which
is a mining company.
MAIN BODY
a.) Stating needs assessment for health appraisal and wellness assessment programs
Needs assessment refers to the process of reflecting employee needs or concerns within
organisation’s mission, goals and objectives. In regards with the lifestyle of Employees in
Western Australia it is been found that increasing obesity is a major mental health challenge
among them (The Commission for occupational safety and health, 2019). According to recent
statistics it is found that more than one in five Australian mining industry workers have
experienced mental health conditions such as depression or anxiety. 22.7% of worker’s
having a mental health condition, 12.1% of worker’s are suffering from substance abuse
condition, 16.7% of workers have anxiety problem and 3.0% of workers having an affective
condition such as depression and obesity (Collie and et.al., 2016). Thus, in order to reduce
such worst condition of the employee, employers must needs to consider the process of
Health risk appraisal which include involvement of employees throughout the building
process, offering programs at time and place convenient to employees, rewarding participants
for achieving goals of the programs and employers must need to change workplace
environment in order to support the healthy lifestyle.
In regards with this BMI is an important indicator through which Vimy resources Ltd.
will able to determine where an employees’ health status lies with regards to their weight.
After, than health care provider will explain the connection between BMI and increased risk
for disease. The most two important factors which would be consider in this need assessment

are employee incentives for participation and a solid communication plan. This needs
assessment will be conducted through interview, telephone, paper and pencil tool, online
survey and referring employees to physician conduct so that proper analysis will get
developed on health issues of employees (Coenen and et.al., 2017).
Developing plan for implementing Health Appraisal and Wellness Assessment Programs
In order to develop effective health appraisal and wellness programs at workplace of Vimy
resources, proper evaluation of workers work will get observed through visiting sites, survey
of employee, health benefits and with other data sources. however, such programs will gets
developed with following steps:
Step 1: Identification of a team and employees needs
In order to develop effective health care program, first of all range of personalities and
perspective, skills and talents will get identified. Based upon that, wellness committee will
get developed under which less than 10 people will get selected across the health and fitness
spectrum (Chmiel, Fraccaroli and Sverke, 2017). These are the type of people which have
struggled with weight loss or have recently quit smoking. This people will help other
employees to increase their standard of living.
