INTRODUCTION
Health and safety are the two main and important aspects that needs to be maintained in the
life of an individual and society. It helps in maintaining the well-being level of the country and
hence reduces the total death ratio. Heath care sectors are working in this field and ensuring that
through their services they can bring development in the well-being condition of the society.
NHS is one of the most leading organisation in the hospitality industry which is known for its
quality health related services (Carayon, 2016). It was incorporated in 1983 and since than the
human resource of this organisation are delivering their services towards development of well-
being. The following report will discuss the system that are followed in the referred organisation
along with the legislations against the same. Contribution of distinct care takers will also be
discussed which will help in understanding this section more.
TASK 1
1.1 Systems, policies and procedures used for communication at health and safety workplace
Well being is indispensable for every individual in order to live their life more
comfortably without facing any health issues. It means, entire society wanted to surrounded with
safe and secure environment for protecting their life from dangerous diseases, accidents and
various other things. For example; a UK family is arranging all the necessary facilities at their
home and head of the family is trying to arrange indispensable services for their children's by
acquiring more or more revenue. It means, family head is liable to facilitate their loved ones as
well as provide secure surrounding in order to prevent them from dangerous attacks (Clougherty,
Souza and Cullen, 2010). Thus, legal bodies of a nation is responsible to design various
necessary laws, norms, policies and strategies to overall society for protecting them from health
hazards. Basically, their main objective is to facilitate overall European people with several
useful laws or norms in order to create a nation free from any dangerous accidents,
discrimination, safety issues and so on. Therefore, few of the necessary policies which must be
followed by various social care organization are describing as follows:- Health and safety at work act 1974:- As per this act it has been assessed that
organization which are engaged in offering social services needs to implement various
protection strategies in order to defend employees performing at workplace. Thus, staff
members needs to cooperate with each other while serving clients.

 Health and safety regulations 1981 :- Legitimate bodies of a nation is worrying about
the safety of employees because all the business activities are managed and regulated by
them only (Cooper and Quick, 2017). Therefore, as per this law, managers of an
organization is liable to provide necessary services to several workers performing at
workplace at the time of need. As a result it aids them in overcoming health barriers
while accomplishing their job role.
1.2 & M3 Responsibilities requires at specific health or social care workplace for management
Employees performing at various health care organization are liable with various roles
and obligation such as; management of essential tools required during serving clients, caring of
patients, encouragement of service users and so on. However, NHS is one of the famous
organization for securing health of various needy people in order to create a environment free
from injury or accidents. Basically, these social service organization are run by government as
well as some are non-governmental association which is not controlled by advisory bodies. But
objective of every health care enterprises is to reduce the problems faced by society and trying to
build a secure community. Hence, it has been analysed that some of the essential responsibilities
of health and safety organization are explained below:- Policies for health and safety:- An association need to implement various useful policies
or strategies to prevent entire staff members as well as consumers whomsoever are
acquiring service. Basically, main reason behind designing strategies to assist employees
with their necessary jobs or duties and helps in motivating them towards their personal or
professional objectives. First aid:- According to this duty, service provider needs to prepare with immediate
facilities for requisite people such as; instant injury, accidents, attacks hence forth.
Moreover, this facility is very much essential in order to provide instant service and
sometime safeguard the life of individuals (Edelman, Mandle and Kudzma, 2013)
 Risk assessment:- NHS or any other organization involved in offering social service
needs to assess the visible or invisible risk in order to take necessary steps or initiative
before it may happen. However, analysis of uncertainty aids in controlling complex
situation in much better way.
Thus, above obligations are necessary to follow by organization involved in serving
clients with health or safety services.

3.3 Contribution of health care worker to promote health and safety
As a employees at social care organization I have many more responsibilities and serve
24*7 because injury or accidents are uncertain. Thus, it is essential to be active in order to
accomplish business activities in much better way by protecting patients from various dangers
which influence their life (Geiger and Lipscomb, 2010). However, as a worker I am responsible
to encourage safety or security at marketplace as well as every member of society. Along with
this liable to conduct several useful or promotional programmes in order to create awareness
across the local and regional areas. Therefore, some of the necessary obligation of social care
employees like my contribution in promoting health or safety is going to described as further:- Awareness sessions:- As a social care employee I need to update every individual with
the health or safety policies and necessity of security measures in protection of their life.
Moreover, it helps in improving the knowledge or learning of overall society or members
living in this community so that they can take immediate action at the time of complex
situation. Taking part in encouragement events:- NHS is an organization whose main objective is
to offer required facilities to overall nation as well as foreign countries by expanding their
promotional programmes in order to facilitate world with useful services. Thus, as a
social care worker I need to take an active part in motivation programmes so that I can
teach other literate or illiterate people about the safety measures by showing benefits of
factors (Glasby, 2017).
 Encouraging patients:- Service users are belong from various backgrounds in which
some are literate and few are illiterate. It means , as a service provider I am responsible to
assist them about the technique of handling complicated situation which is faced by them
at anytime.

Hence, it has been analysed that as a social care employees I have many responsibilities
and need to be very careful while assisting other users.

According to the case study, Mr John has been employed for care home manager in

within the home (Hart, 2010). There are various stages which should be come for required
strength of handicapped people within an association that are as follows:

 Public health act, 1936- This act states that competencies for working in this sector such
as physicians and non compliance implies that the physician can be punished or charge
penalties to the patients for giving untrue treatment for maintaining professional conduct.
 Care standard act, 2000- This will express the standard for care delivery process and non
compliance to survive within an organisation at united kingdom. In this act, company can
help in take care of all patients from any harm and danger disease.

In the health and safety policy, risk assessment is one of the leading aspects which bears
intense affect on clients and an organisation in proper manner. Risk assessment mainly deal with
gaining information related to involvement of risk in delivery care of patient and it can be based
on age, compromising situation, illness level. Such information and data assist in managing and
reducing harm and gaining opportunity to service users, community people and care conveyance
employees increment the major resources and methods that are used in the procedures of work
delivery (Jeffreys, 2015). It will assist in creating safe and secure working environment for an
employee which involved in process by doing proper installation of safety and support different
systems which required at some time period while doing care delivery. It help an enterprise for
make arrangements to deal with eventuality condition which can create for future period of time
frame. As per the case study, there are various activities which help in keep safe their clients by

staff members, visitors and agency employees. Care home was also neglect in keeping the steps,
paths and escape from fire (King and et.al., 2010)
For the customers, it will deal with patient involvement during risk assessment and also
conduct care planning process. By this patient feel confident and motivated towards system of
care. It assist in improving quality of care which make sure their health and well being through
making decision in appropriate manner. As per the requirement of patient care period can be
extended for providing proper services to their demands and illness.

Risk in care environment is very important determination and it is based on age of
patient, illness level, mental health, nature and risk assessment has majorly impact on care
quality services of an enterprise which will impact for developing and formulating process and
policies within health and care environment. There are different stages which are discussed as
under:
 Identify risks and danger- Care planning need to assess the risk which assist an
organisation for reducing the chances of danger and injuries to stakeholders by doing
proper observation of the hazardous to the customers (Marmot and et.al., 2012).
 Deciding what is major risk- An organisation should plan for care provision so this will
assist in involvement of patients in risk assessment and on the other side, care planning
help company in generating better satisfaction among service users and maintain good
image in the large market place.
 Ensure effectiveness of current measures- For promoting good and effective practices
which is based on code of conduct and it allow for taking correct decision within care
organisation. Also care employees can be equipped along with required arrangements that
will manage and handle risks within the case of mental disorder patients. Risk assessment
also assist an organisation in installing of the required position such as fire extinguisher
where mitigate risk help in developing and formulating policies in such direction
(McCaughey and et.al., 2013).

2.3 Dilemma in implementing system and policies for heath and safety issues
According to given case study it has been analysed that MR. Sam is a very moody person
as he is suffering from Mania in which a person always try to something itself without acquiring
help from others. Thus, in this situation care taker is facing number of issues or problems in
managing entire situation. Hence, state of dilemma creates while designing an effective policies
or system for taking care of MR. Sam health safety or security due to complication in entire
situation. Basically, above scenario entitles that care taker of MR. Sam needs to consider
necessary factors while designing safety measures which is highlighted as follows:- Usage of technology:- Modern technology act as a very useful or appropriate strategy for
handling patient because it aids in engaging them in new or innovative things which may
attract minds of millions of clients. Basically, Mr. Sam might get involved in high tech
equipments which resulted in avoidance of unused work like selection of newspaper. Third party involvement:- Need to appoint other members to interact with patient so that
patient get circulated with maximum number of members. As a result chances of mistake
get minimized (Reeves and et.al., 2011).
 Time management:- As a social care worker of MR. Sam it is indispensable to manage
overall duration with patient in order to offer them best or appropriate service at the time
of need or requirement.
Thus, it has been assessed that, as a care taker of patient it is essential to make an
effective plan or schemes in order to fulfils the need or requirement of specific person.
3.2 Examples of two health and safety policies and its effectiveness in promoting positivity
In a given scenario MR. Sam is facing a major problem of Mania in which a person
become moody and not aware about their safety measures. In fact, they are living in a state of
unconsciousness without knowing the consequences of any action. Thus, two major example of
health or safety policies which used by social care employees for encouraging positive
surrounding are describing as follows:-

 Fire safety or training events:- An association needs to make plans conduct various
development sessions to improve the learning of employees in order to protect patients
from various accidents. Along with this, needs to implement several necessary
arrangements at workplace for encouraging effective environment by preventing overall
staff members.
 Appropriate procedures:- Need to design an effective process in order to assist
employees while performing their assigned job by fulfilling the needs of consumers in a
best way.

In the health care sector hygiene and safety is of great importance. In the given case study,
proper inspection is done through which it was recognised that the management of respite care
home failed to maintain the basic requirements. No hygiene was maintained as all the things
were kept together in the same room which leads to contamination. There were different laws
against the violation of each act which further helped in improving the conditions of respite care
home. When strict legislations are made it puts pressure on the administration to follow the same
as violation of any one of them leads to great loss (Reeves and et.al., 2011).

CONCLUSION
From the above report this has been summarised that in health and care sector
maintenance of different legislations is of very much importance as violation of any one of them
will lead to strict action by the present governing authority. There are a number of strict laws that
are made for this sector so that security and safety of different individuals are maintained. It was
found that as a member of this sector an individual’s plays a number of roles in marinating the
standards of services. Thereafter ways of reducing total risk at hospitals were discussed which
shows that through marinating policies and carrying out certain practices the risk of accidents
can be reduced to a great extent. Lastly, from this study this can also be concluded that by
communicating the importance of safety at hospitals accidents can be minimised to a great extent
and overall level of well-being can be raised.
